Artist statement published yesterday by the official Star Wars website: "My work for the 2025 Celebration is inspired by The Book of Boba Fett and by Fett's first appearance in Marvel Comics. Boba debuted in Star Wars issue #42. 77¥ is the approximate conversion of the original cover price, 50¢. I wanted to include Japanese characters, and I moved the traditional corner box to the right as an homage to Japanese manga. I also used a halftone coloring system to further connect to manga aesthetics and to make a nostalgic reference to early comic printing processes."

The ship was a re-paint of an earlier "The Clone Wars" Slave I from 2010 and the Han Solo in Carbonite was a re-paint of the "The Saga Collection" version from 2006. A #BobaFett figure was not included in the box. "The Vintage Collection" intentionally had packaging to resemble the original look from 1980 with some slight changes.

View on InstagramIN CASE YOU MISSED IT: This limited edition Black Series Prototype #BobaFett lithograph had a limited edition of 1,500 and were given away as part of Hasbro Mexico's Star Wars Black Series launch event on October 17th.
The announcement included the news that Walmart would be the exclusive distributor in Mexico of the Black Series toys, presumably including the Walgreens exclusive (U.S. only) Black Series version of Prototype Boba Fett. (Helmet nod to MercadoLibre for the great photo of this and to Yakface.com for contributing to the reportage.)

#BobaFett's first public appearance was at the San Anselmo Community Fair and Parade on September 24, 1978. The costume was worn by Duwayne Dunham, who also wore the all-white prototype armor. This photo was recently shared by the official #StarWars website in an exclusive interview with Dunham. Note the "eye" marks on the helmet above the visor, which were part of the pre-production look, but eventually removed for the final character.
