"Star Wars 1313" #BobaFett concept art by Gustavo H. Mendonca

Boba Fett was revealed to be the lead, playable character in a game (per George Lucas), based on official concept art like this and eventually gameplay excerpts – some of which we've featured here before

The game was shelved on April 3, 2013 as a result of Disney's purchase of Lucasfilm, in which several projects were put on hold or cancelled

While it's a Lucasfilm-endorsed exclusive issue, and had Lucasfilm providing assets according to the magazine editor, this cover was done for the magazine by Jacey (see https://jacey.com for an incredible portfolio) and it may or may not be a confirmation that Fett has a moment or two in Season 3, beginning March 1st

This official "pitch" painting by Lucasfilm concept designer Brian Matyas helped seal the deal with Disney to green-light "#TheMandalorian."

Earlier this month, the artist shared that Dave Filoni needed a "sketch of a small Yoda creature being presented to a group of Mandalorians."

Due to the quick turn-around, Brian used Daz 3D for composition and then his Hot Toys 1/4 scale #BobaFett as a base to paint on top. Doug Chiang was also involved early in the process.

Helmet nod to Temuera Morrison returning to #StarWars, as seen here in Chapter 9 (Season 2 Episode 1) of #TheMandalorian

While technically a nomad with no name, the character is just shy of earning an end credit name check as #BobaFett, which also means he finally survived the Sarlacc in the current canon – no more "he's neither dead nor alive until a story pulls him out"

We can't share if/when the "I am Boba Fett" reveal will happen, but what a great way to start the season; episode 2 drops at midnight Pacific tonight

Footnote: this time we won't be so excited that we post a still when the episode first drops; instead, we'll keep our excitement behind a link to choose your own adventure – until the following Monday, in step with the Disney/Lucasfilm standard

"It's about a bounty hunter, after Return of the Jedi... It's all new characters... I'm actually writing part of the second season now."

Jon Favreau spoke about his Disney+ series, #TheMandalorian, with Jimmy Kimmel Live on July 11th.

Bonus: Before Jon showed his "Boba Feet" Stance socks, which was awesome, Jimmy said Boba Fett was a Mandalorian -- but in the current canon this is not correct, as he just wears Mandalorian armor. Jimmy also says "may he rest in peace," but also in the current canon he's neither dead nor alive.

Season 2 for the show was already confirmed by Fantha Tracks, who spoke with Lucasfilm's Doug Chiang who first let the news out on day one of Celebration Chicago (April 12th).

#TriviaTuesday: Did you know Mark Austin wrote his own #BobaFett story? Read part of "The Accursed One Lives," exclusively on BFFC, at http://bit.ly/TheAccursedOneLives.

Pictured here is Mark, who portrayed Fett in 1997's "Star Wars: Special Edition," is wearing one of the actual actual costumes. This shot is from a #StarWars Summit for #Lucasfilm. His caption for this shot: "Heaven.... Star Wars 'heaven'!"

Happy Birthday Steve Sansweet!

Steve, the world's largest #StarWars collector and head of fan relations for Lucasfilm, is the proud owner of these original L-slot and J-slot prototype #BobaFett action figures.

According to Chris Georgoulias of TheSWCA.com, there are approximately 65 L-slots and 15 J-slots out there, which can fetch upwards of $20,000 each.

#ThisDayInHistory: #BobaFett made his animated debut in the #StarWars Holiday Special, which aired on this day in 1978 on CBS.

Normally seen on bootleg VHS copies, Lucasfilm included the cartoon segment of the television special as a bonus feature for the "Star Wars: The Complete Saga" Blu-ray release in 2011. Don Francks is uncredited but believed to be the voice of Boba Fett.

For more trivia and transcripts, see our Fettpedia entry at http://bobafett.com/fettpedia/Star_Wars_Holiday_Special

(Correction: We originally said the 2005 Blu-ray release, which is incorrect and doesn't exist. It's the 2011 Blu-ray release that has this bonus footage.)

Before the #StarWars sequel was renamed "Return of the Jedi" instead of "Revenge," Lucasfilm knew here with this 35mm slide that they had a great shot of the infamous bounty hunter.

Unlike Han Solo, Fett Always Shoots First.

In case you missed it, yesterday marked the official confirmation -- by Lucasfilm, not just some blog -- that the second #StarWars anthology film will be all about #HanSolo. But does this mean the still-rumored #BobaFett anthology film is now the third of the bunch? Or will Fett perhaps make a cameo in this one?

Fun fact about the new game: Electronic Art's Digital Illusions CE (DICE) scanned an actual prop Boba Fett helmet available to them at Lucasfilm Archive, giving the game's promo photos and gameplay craftsmanship even more authenticity. Fett sports his "Jedi" Special Edition costume look for the game. #BobaFett appeared in "Underworld: The Yavin Vassilika," a mini-series published by Dark Horse Comics in 2000. The #StarWars comic spurned interest at one point circa 2012 in an official, live-action Star Wars TV show that would have followed the same storyline. Those scripts, despite quotes from Lucasfilm (read: Rick McCallum) about their existence, must have been shelved.

Before unmasking #BobaFett was a thing, illustrator Daniel Brereton asked Topps and Lucasfilm if he could try something for this #StarWars Galaxy 2 (card #213) back in 1993. They approved. "[D]espite the fact that Topps, Lucasfilm and myself didn't really care that it wasn't the 'true' reveal of Fett, rather than the idea of a young fan's vision of what was under the mask," notes Brereton in a statement.

#ThrowbackThursday: Sarlacc Food No More. In case you missed it, yesterday J.W. Rinzler (Lucasfilm's historian) confirmed that George Lucas does indeed believe #BobaFett survived the Sarlacc.

While we've had no less than five Sarlacc "survivor" storylines, after Disney bought Lucasfilm, all of these Expanded Universe ideas were officially tossed aside. Yesterday's public declaration on Rinzler's Reddit AMA is only the second time Lucas has said Fett lives, after many times saying Fett dies. And this time it wasn't just a hot mic picking up Lucas like at the 2012 Star Wars Celebration VI convention.

See http://www.bobafettfanclub.com/news/fettpedia/j-w-rinzler-confirms-george-lucas-boba-fett-survived-the-sarlacc/ for more.

If the #ExpandedUniverse is out, we could still see #BobaFett escape the Sarlacc. The official storyline just won't mirror the variety of versions already: #Jawas, #Dengar, and/or being "simply indigestible." If the official word on the street is that the jetpack-clad bounty hunter is still officially down in the pit after this #ReturnOfTheJedi moment -- pictured here in a painting by Dave Dorman -- it could also mean that 1) he's not necessarily dead and 2) he could escape in one of the new Disney/Lucasfilm films. What do you think?
