How it started vs. how it's going

On the left is a Mythosaur by Brian Rood published in "The Bounty Hunter Code: From the Files of Boba Fett" (2013) and on the right is a Mythosaur in the latest canon Star Wars encyclopedia (2024)

Going further back, Mythosaurs were first (retroactively) depicted as far back as Marvel Star Wars #69 (1982) with the skull symbol originally being uniquely on Boba Fett's shoulder armor

Specifically, he'll be in the "Tatooine Rhapsody" episode made by Studio Colorido (Twin Engine), possibly sporting this look which is a mix-and-match of "Empire" and "Jedi" accessories

According to the official Star Wars site, "'Visions' storytelling didn't have to fit in the timeline," suggesting non-canon

Temuera Morrison as #BobaFett: alive post-Sarlacc in the current canon, given plenty of lines with substance, shown as an excellent warrior, and finally named in the end credits in new live-action #StarWars content

Plus he's got the receipts to prove he's pretty much just as #Mandalorian as Din, which gives joy to a generation of fans that felt departed from a legacy of legends

Helmet nod to Temuera Morrison returning to #StarWars, as seen here in Chapter 9 (Season 2 Episode 1) of #TheMandalorian

While technically a nomad with no name, the character is just shy of earning an end credit name check as #BobaFett, which also means he finally survived the Sarlacc in the current canon – no more "he's neither dead nor alive until a story pulls him out"

We can't share if/when the "I am Boba Fett" reveal will happen, but what a great way to start the season; episode 2 drops at midnight Pacific tonight

Footnote: this time we won't be so excited that we post a still when the episode first drops; instead, we'll keep our excitement behind a link to choose your own adventure – until the following Monday, in step with the Disney/Lucasfilm standard

Two versions for how it started vs. how it's going

We'll have to wait and see if the first one ends up canon, as rumored for Season 2 of #TheMandalorian after such heavy hinting in Episode 5 of Season 1

Is that #BobaFett's damaged "ROTJ" jetpack on The Mandalorian's speeder?

Fett's more colorful jetpack would also have to be damaged, consistent with the events of "Return of the Jedi." In the current canon, Boba Fett only fell into the Sarlacc and is neither dead nor alive. He's rumored to return in Season 2, but at this point it's not officially confirmed.

As media, we have access to a 2.2gb ProRes master of the trailer, versus the 24mb YouTube file, allowing us less compressed frames to put this together. The still frames are also sharpened, to compete with all the motion blur in the actual shot.

Helmet nod to bhower1138 (Twitter) for sharing this observation and BestOfFett (Twitter) for its signal boost.

The anthology, "Star Wars The Clone Wars: Stories of Light and Dark," comes out August 25. The story with Boba Fett is written by Zoraida Córdova and is called "The Lost Nightsister." It mainly follows #AsajjVentress in her point of view which includes Boba Fett, building upon but not just adapting the "Bounty" story from Season 4 of The Clone Wars.

#ThrowbackThursday: Remember when George Lucas said #BobaFett was dead? Much has changed since 1997. Get up-to-date, from the "legends" to the new canon: http://j.mp/BobaFettDeadOrAlive

Helmet nod to pithrai for uploading this to YouTube -- an nice upgrade from the file we've hosted on bobafett.com since it first aired.

"A Practical Man" was a short #BobaFett story by #KarenTraviss. It's a $1.99 download on Penguin Random House: http://j.mp/1MYhgul

First out in 2006, it is now re-covered under the "Legends" banner like all non-canon things "Expanded Universe." Find other books that Traviss wrote about Fett and Mando'a at http://bobafett.com/bounty/search/?q=traviss

#TriviaTuesday: according to "legends" (read: expanded universe), #BobaFett didn't always work for the bad guys. Some of his allure was boosted by this extra depth to his character, which we sure hope finds its way into the new canon.

This panel comes from Dark Empire II, which Dark Horse Comics originally published in 1995. The artwork is by Cam Kennedy and the writing is by Tom Veitch.

"Fett's Not Dead" is a new #BobaFett-inspired design, now available on apparel via TeePublic: http://j.mp/1XVRvms

The design comes from BluGhost aka Ryan Spencer, who makes the "Mini-Wars" #StarWars figurines, and has a design giving a nod to Image Comics' The Walking Dead #48. (Footnote: Is Boba Fett dead or alive? In the new canon, it's neither. See http://j.mp/BobaFettDeadOrAlive for the Fett facts since 1983.) #StarWars #BobaFettFanClub

#BobaFett escapes the Sarlacc (non-canon!) in last night's series finale of #StarWars #DroidTales, only to have this happen to him!

#MandalorianMonday: Is that Boba Fett's armor post-Sarlacc in "Star Wars: Aftermath?" http://j.mp/1NcTDSU

Most of us imagine (or remember reading) #BobaFett escaping the Sarlacc. This is not confirmed yet in the new #StarWars canon. The brand-new book "Aftermath" drops a hint with "picked and pocked" #Mandalorian armor that's "been through hell" being found at the right place and right time -- just missing its owner.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Here's the #BobaFett reference in the latest post-Sarlacc #StarWars canon, "#StarWarsAftermath." #

This clue suggests Boba Fett's armor was salvaged and is up for sale at a Jawa flea market on Tatooine among other wreckage from Jabba's Sail Barge. Fett himself is not mentioned.

# "Aftermath," written by Chuck Wendig, comes out on #ForceFriday. You can also get it on Amazon: http://j.mp/1hUPzeG

ICYMI: Fett Confirmed for New #StarWars: Battlefront Game!

Also, could that crashed Star Destroyer in the background -- which looks identical to same moment in the new "The Force Awakens" trailer -- mean that #BobaFett is alive and out of the Sarlacc in the new canon?
