While a new picture isn't used, the post from Thursday on the verified page – when translated to English – says "The original cast is back … The Mandalorian #DinDjarin and [Baby] Yoda are about to start a new adventure! Plus legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett along with other old allies and new foes!"
This official "pitch" painting by Lucasfilm concept designer Brian Matyas helped seal the deal with Disney to green-light "#TheMandalorian."
Earlier this month, the artist shared that Dave Filoni needed a "sketch of a small Yoda creature being presented to a group of Mandalorians."
Due to the quick turn-around, Brian used Daz 3D for composition and then his Hot Toys 1/4 scale #BobaFett as a base to paint on top. Doug Chiang was also involved early in the process.
The specialty series includes Mad Manga (#BobaFett), Twinduction (Han Solo), Fandango (Chewbacca), Bully Goat (Luke Skywalker), Barbaric (Yoda), Quick N' Sik (Princess Leia), Nitro Doorslammer (Darth Vader), and Deora II (Jabba the Hutt)
#ThrowbackThursday: Back in 2011, we saw #BobaFett on the cover of the re-released novelization for "The Empire Strikes Back" by Donald F. Glut.
If this artwork looks familiar, you may recognize it from the first DVD release of "Empire" in 2004. That release was bittersweet for some fans because it came with the late Jason Wingreen's original voice of Fett being dubbed over by Temuera Morrison.
Hasbro Mission Series 2-Packs, including this #BobaFett and Stormtrooper with "Rebels" packaging, carefully notes that the figures are from #StarWars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. Other 2-packs with characters from "Rebels" have a sticker that says they're "from the show," whereas this conveniently says "watch the show." Helmet nod to YodasNews.com for the image and details.
