View on Instagram | TwitterJason Wingreen was the original voice of #BobaFett. We just learned he passed away on December 25, 2015. This is our tribute to him.
Anyone who saw "The Empire Strikes Back" in theaters or on VHS/laserdisc between 1980 and 2003 would have heard his lines. After 2004, DVD and Blu-ray releases were re-dubbed to conform to the prequels and used Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett.
Jason was born October 9, 1920. He was interviewed for Star Wars Insider #49 (May/June 2000) in which he shared this story of the role: "My agent called me and said to go over to the recording studio, where I met Gary Kurtz and Irvin Kershner. Normally, you see the face of an actor you're dubbing, so you have to lip-synch. But that was no problem here -- I could say the lines at any time. I got in position, they ran the film a few times, and I said the lines. Kershner came out and made a suggestion or two and went back in the control room, I did it again, and I was finished."

View on Instagram | Facebook | TwitterOne of the many times #BobaFett has been represented after being unmasked in the prequels. Who do you think should play Fett in a still-rumored #StarWars "story" film?

This panel comes from the "Being Boba Fett" panel in "Star Wars Tales #18," which was first published in 2003 and later bundled for "Star Wars Tales Volume 5" in 2005. It was written by Jason Hall with pencils by Stewart McKenny, ink by John Wycough, colors by Dave Nestelle, and letters by Steve Dutro.

View on Instagram | Facebook | Twitter#TriviaTuesday: Remember the surprise of seeing #JodoKast unmasked by #BobaFett?
This panel comes from the game-changing comic "Twin Engines of Destruction," which originally was published in four issues of a now-defunct #StarWars Galaxy Magazine from Topps. As you may know, Jodo Kast was a competing bounty hunter who pretended to be Boba Fett -- to whomever was paying the bounty. The comic was written by Andy Mangels, who also coined the name Jaster Mereel, which was since change up after the prequels, and even since has been coined a "legend." #

View on Instagram#BobaFett's backstory began in this 1995 guidebook, "#StarWars: The Essential Guide to Characters." Few official stories had elaborated on Fett's past, but author Andy Mangels did a great job at the time, writing about his then alter ego as Jaster Mereel, a journeyman protector from Concord Dawn. Only after the prequels did all of this get re-written, re-defined, and then thrown out for the time being.
