And for the love of anything you hold dear, at least try to use proper grammar. Other infractions have led to...unfortunate occurrences, for us violent types.

If anyone here has ever been on the Kingdom of Loathing, they make you pass a grammar test before you can use the chat system. One of the best ideas I've ever heard.

i think that's a little picky if ya ask me... it doesn't really matter as long as you get your point out, ya know.....whatever.

Well, I don't know about that.  Personally, when I see posts without capital letters and lots of strange spacing or extra symbols, I tend to skip them under the assumption that there's nothing valuable contained in the post.  Also, interpreting them is often more trouble than it's worth.

everyone is defferent...it's not cool if ya skip their post just because of sentances without capital letters.(example). i think that is a little picky....but i can see the strange spacing thing just 'cause it is weird.

The purpose of capital letters is to help distinguish between sentences, since periods are so small and difficult to see.  Without them the post looks like a long stream of words, difficult to interpret without reading very slowly and therefore using up the little time I have.  It seems much less effort to hit the "shift" button every once in a while than it is to slowly read a post over and over again.  I'm just suggesting that properly written posts are more likely to be read than lazy ones.  In addition, they make a person seem more intelligent, and people tend to take intelligent people more seriously.

Im not unintelligent, but the whole "Seeing where sentances start/end" is justifiable. I'll give ya that. :)

Maybe, but Chrys' point is that you can prove it by writing properly.  Which I must agree with.

I used to be a fairly big member there, almost everyone knew me. And then at some point in 2004 (when the new green boards came up) I quit going cause it hurt my head and eyes to go there anymore. Why do sites think it's cool to mess up the coloring and to add the stupid little dropdown menus? All it does is mess up my internet to click and unclick and to see the weird colors. That's why I can't go to TFN cause they have multicolored pages. (whyyy must every page be a different color? It makes me dizzy) And, so, I go to the only not messed up real boards there is. This one. Thank you, Aaron, for keeping with the grey coloring, my eyes and head thank you very much for this! And thank you for no stupid click to drop down menus! :)

Miba, thanks for noticing those small benefits around here. You're right on target about a usable experience. It's certainly a priority around here, but I'm always looking for help and feedback.

On TF.NET. I have to wear shades when viewing. It's like someone barfed in technicolor.  Just because you have access to every color in the wheel doesn't mean you need to use them all at once.  I like the boards here, very sleek!

LMAO! I love that line "barfed in technicolor". But anyway, I agree about not using every color at once. It's not a contest where you have to show off how many colors you can use.

I third this whole thing...too bright of colors make me get dizzy and I trash the whole idea of the site...

Good spelling, rare. Siren, I think we'll get along just fine. Syntax genocide is very strongly denounced by my comrade Yautja and I, as ARC and bobadude can testify to. You however, should have no problem at all. I don't think that's ever happened before, congratulations.

Hello--I posted in a couple of other threads before this one, but I'll give a short intro here too!

I love Star Wars, specifically Mandalorians (of course).  I also scrapbook, draw/art projects, read mostly Star Wars books, and love online rpg's and fan forums!  I would also like to get back into model-building.  I have also made a habit of biking--no less than 3 miles a week on average.  I like to try new things, like this disc golf I was recently informed of.

It's a check box at the bottom, underneath the message box, where it asks if you want to use smiley's and icons and such.

It's a moderator only thing, I believe. ;)
