personally i think that jango is the better fighter. Obvioulsy they are the same person however i think jango learned more about fighting from jaster and his time with the manalorians. Also jango had better competition in the old republic, harder bounties too.

jango's kill list includes 5 jedi including komari vosa and jedi council member coleman trebor. Bobba's doesn't even begin to compare to this.

"Stand aside I will kill you if I have to" (Bobba Fett to darth vedar in enemy of the empire)
"I should shoot you just for asking about that" (Jango Fett to count dooku for mentioning Galidraan)

Boba (and I do mean Boba) is infinitely better than Jango. Boba has A LOT of Jedi heads hanging on the walls of the Slave I .

i never read that boba killed any jedi

My vote undoubtedly goes to Boba Fett.

And if killing Jedi was all that could make you a good hunter, Aurra Sing would be far greater than Jango. But think about this. Fett lived in the time when the Jedi were extinct, while Jango when Jedi were abundant. So of course Jango killed more Jedi than Boba. (I don't really beleive in Boba hanging Padawan heads in Slave 1. It would just add extra weight to the ship.)

I do not think that having a bunch of Jedi heads (and I am pretty sure thate they were not Padawan's) would not add much weight.

Well, he stripped the slave 1 of basically everything that would weigh it down, such as modern comforts like a sofa or such. I would rather have a comfy sofa than a bunch of heads.

I would asume he had the heads as momentos of his revenging of Jango.

I think I'm the first to say this, but I'm not sure. Anyway, Jango didn't kill Komari Vosa, Dooku did.

Boba hands down, simply because he out-lived Jango in far harsher conditions. Remember Boba took on Vader and survived, that's pretty good considering Vader killed far more Jedi than Jango ever did.

I will not spoil it either, but both of them won and lost depending on what you consider winning by the circumstances of that particular battle.

I on the other hand, really don't care about spoiling. Lightsaber fight between Vader and Boba, ends in a draw. At least, I hope that's the one you guys were referring to.

Boba is better because he's still alive even through that sarlacc pit, and Boba has a huge record of killing jedi. Just because you haven't haered of Boba killing jedi is that they don't have to tell you you should aready know. I say this because the jedi killed Boba's father. Boba wants revenge. Boba kills more jedi than you can possibly imagine.

That was in SW Tales #7, I think. It was the yellow one with Han on the cover. I was talking about Enemy of the Empire. But you're right about that too. :) So, that's two fights between Boba and Vader, not just the one. I'd forgotten about the one in Tales.

And, btw, I really don't think giving spoilers is a good idea. I had someone spoil me a lot for ROTS and I didn't feel the movie nearly as much as I could have. And I've had all sorts of people spoil me for the NJO when I begged them not to and now I have almost no interest in reading the books because I'm so depressed about having been spoiled. I think for one of the spoilers I got so upset over it I actually hit the person who told me. What you said wasn't really a spoiler for that particular fight, but it is a good thing to care about whether or not you give spoilers. :) Not trying to start a fight with you or anything, just saying my own POV.

Jango is one of my fav characters(as is Boba), but Boba would win

the only jedi that I have ever heard boba encountering was ferus and he says that the padawan is too difficult a bounty to take in. apart from this i have heard nothing. as for jango he fought the jedi when they were at the height of their powers he was the only survibor of the galidran massacre and killed 3 jedi by hand.

also don't say jango didn't kill vosa he left her for dead and practically gift wrapped her for dooku in a nice little bowshe was at deaths door anyway.

boba is amazing and his fight with vader was great although he did not win vader could have killed him but chose to let him escape.

"I should shoot you just for asking about that" (Jango Fett to count dooku for mentioning Galidraan)
March 12, 2006 5:19 pm #

But he didn't outright kill her. Remember, the bounty was dead or alive, same pay either way. Jango had her down, but not dead, and he lowered his blasters (I think? I was sure he did anyway...) and THEN Dooku choked her, and Jango's probably seen enough people die to know that she was indeed dead then, and the way Dooku sorta forgot about her after that would probably tell Jango that she was dead, so I guess he didn't "leave her for dead".

Speaking of gift wrapping Vosa, you know how you use the whipcord to get bounties alive in the game? I thought you had to do that for Vosa too since she's a bounty..... I ended up dying numberous times before I gave up and checked OL to see how you do it. hehe...

Boba, No contest.  Personally, I'm rather annoyed by Jango, who technically came after Boba, and stole alot of the spotlight.  Kids who had probably never seen the original Star Wars, saw Ep. II and were all: "Jango, Jango!"  It sickens me.
Jango's armor is all pristine and shiny, like he polishes it every night or something.  (Shows you what kind of 'man' Jango is)  Boba could care less about such trivial things, and all the pits and mars on his armor just show what a bada** he is.
Jangos pistols would look better on my coffee table as a centerpeice than in a cool bounty hunter's thigh-holster.  Boba has the EE3 carbine.  'Nuff said.
Boba also has a cape.  I mean, come on.  Jango can't touch that.
Boba didn't get killed by some jedi with a purple lightsaber.
Boba gets a robotic leg.  Once again.  More awsome than Jango could ever possibly dream of being.

  Green is cool.

  Carbines are cool.

  Boba is cool.

  Jango sucks.

I hope I have made my point.  If I didn't, read it again.  Maybe five more times.

Boba Fett went through more difficult trials than Jango, I think. When Jango lost his parents, Jaster Mareel was there to show him the ropes and mentor him. When Jango was killed, Boba Fett had to be self-reliant for the most part. The fact that from there he met and exceeded his father's legacy must mean he is 'better'.

Boba's armour was wrecked because it belonged to a man who died about 30 years before he got to wear it.

Have you ever seen the incredibles that shows you what happens to people who have capes.

Jango's pistols allowed him to shoot much faster than Boba allowing him to kill multiple opponents.

Yeah Boba was much better accidently being hit by a blind smuggler. I know he didn't die but I would rather have Jango's death than boba's embarrasment.

I love Boba but i just think jango was better. and as for the credits thing Jango made a hell of a lot more money than boba ever did.

The armor may have been slightly damaged when he got it, but it certainly picked up most of the 'scars' from when Boba used it.

I pretty sure the thing about the capes in Incredibles was ment to be a joke.

It is unpractical and imposible to use two pistols accurately.  Boba's Carbine has more range.

Boba may have been ;accidentaly hit by Han, but he didn't die and Jango did.  Point made.

There is no proof whatsoever how many credits either of them got.

I love the stuff I've heard about Jango (I'm dying to get my hands on Open Seasons, and I love the awesome cowboy pistol spins!) but as cool as he was...He didn't have Boba Fett's sense of honor, or style. Boba has that air of creepy intimidation that Jango never really captured.

In the Bounty Hunter game, Jango Fett gets 5 million credits for Komari Vosa, and "a lot more" for being cloned. Of course, we'll probably never know what Dooku meant by "a lot more" nor will we know about the other jobs of Jango or Boba :/

Impossible? I think not. With enough practice, you can shoot two pistols accurately while hollding them with your teeth and pulling the trigger with your tongue. Impractical? Possibly. It can make your opponet run around a little more and you can fire consecutively a whole lot faster.

If Jango Fett was ambidexterous, perhaps using two guns would be easier than it is for those who are not? Perhaps he found a way to fire both guns at the same target, much like how a starfighter links two cannons together to fire at one target? Or, like in Bounty Hunter, he could fire at 2 targets at once, but perhaps in a non game situation, the 2nd target was not as accurately hit, but served as an intimidation/crowd control tactic.

This is early morning, pre-Earl Grey speculation of mine :P

Actually, there are a book or two that say how much Boba made on his hunts. I'm a bit rushed right now cause I'm eating breakfast before going to work, but I can look it up later for the exact amounts he made.

Boba's made 5 million credits in a single bounty; can't remember exactly which one it was, but I know he did.

This argument, has got to end. More specifically, it has to end with Boba being the victor. I will do my best to list Boba's most prominent qualities and accomplishments, and you see if his idiotic old man can match up:

1) Boba is the most legendary bounty hunter of his time. The vey sight of his armor inspires fear. Jango on the other hand, was nowhere close to as well known. If he was, then Obi Wan would have recognized him as he flew away after killing Zam (who he used to do the dirty work...coward).

2)Boba has taken on an entire Imperial Garrison just to get at a single man inside. He succeeded, in the process killing two ATATs, several ATSTs, the base's commander, and a good amount of stormtroopers.

3) The Slave I, under Boba's ownership, received a cloaking device, ion cannon, proton torpedo launcher, and even a voice-activated self-healing system. Under Jango, it had a pair of low power repeaters (seems to be a theme of his, fill the air with enough weak shots and maybe you'll hit something.), some seeker rockets, and some seismic mines. Jango couldn't kill a Jedi starfighter (far from conditioned for combat), while Boba was able to kill the IG-2000 despite the fact that he was ambushed as he reached Tatooine's atmo. The better pilot is clear.

4) Boba wields an EE-3 blaster carbine, wrist lasers, kneepad rocket-darts, boot spikes, a whipcord, a flamethrower, and a high-power sonic weapon built into his armor. Jango uses two skeletal, short range, and weak Westar 34s, wrist blades, a wrist flechette launcher, and a flamethrower. Both have rockets mounted on their jetpacks, but those never really come into play. Boba's armaments are more accurate, more powerful, and more useful. Jango's did nothing to save his life at the hands of Mace (whom I thank), while Boba's killed more than his fair share of Jedi without losing his head, if you'll forgive the pun.

5) Boba succeeded in breaking the entire Bounty Hunter's guild apart, just to get the job done.

6) Boba has a clear sense of honor, as he shows when he tracks down Han Solo - and lets him go again. He caught up with Solo because Han's old girlfriend had told Boba to let her father know when she died. She did, and because Boba didn't know how to contact her parents, he found Solo and gave the message to him to relay to her parents. Then he let his most elusive piece of prey to date go without a second thought, all because he was bound by honor to do so. Concerning Jango's sense of honor, he pays a changling to do his jobs for him, so we can see how that ends.

7) Boba survived a fall into the Sarlacc, something never accomplished by anyone. And more than that, he crippled the thing, and could've killed it had he seen it necessary. When Jango was in a pit, with at least one Jedi present and blaster bolts flying, he lost the part of his body which he never really used anyway (which would be his head, to silence any perverts out there).

8) Boba has t3h h4xx0r green armor, scored by wounds from countless battles. Jango, on the other hand, keeps his unmarked armor clean and shiny, proudly bearing the marks of the battles that he...hasn't had. It can be likened to how a gay person keeps their nails clean (Jango has been pwn3d).

9) Boba is awesome. Jango is not.

10) Boba wins. Period.

El Fin.

The reasons for these two are mainly becaus Boba ived 20 years after Jango. That is like comparing a driver in the 80's  with a driver in the 21st century based on what car they used. (But I do agree with you on the other points)

It's from Tales from the New Republic, "No disintagrations, please" I think is the name of the actual story. I think the book's out of print, so I'd try ebay or amazon marketplace.

And about the credits: Boba made 5 million from the hunt for the Butcher of Montellian Serat. a 250,000 for delivering Han to Jabba, 100,000 for getting Han for Vader, 150,000 for capturing Feldrall Okor, 500,000 for capturing Nivek'Yppiks, and 50,000 in No Disintagrations, Please.
My sources are: Tales of the Bounty Hunters, Tales from Jabba's Palace, and the old Essential Guide to Characters. I know there's a few in Bounty Hunter Wars but that would take too long to dig through.

Jango didn't know where he was but it seemed to be the future. He stared at a man in a battered suit of Mandalorian Armor. A chill ran down his spine as the man turned the full weight of his stare on Jango. There was something familiar yet chillingly disturbing.

It is a very close call i give it that.

however there is one thing that i can't seem to fathom why jango fett was criticised which is being killed by mace windu.

mace is said to be the most powerful jedi of this time and if anyone says that boba would have killed mace in a one to one combat is having a laugh.

also when jango fought mace he was greatly disadvantaged, he had a broken jet pack and only one blaster after he lost if fighting obi-wan.

also open seasons is a great series i would recommend it to anyone.

"Stand aside I will kill you if I have to" (Bobba Fett to darth vedar in enemy of the empire)
"I should shoot you just for asking about that" (Jango Fett to count dooku for mentioning Galidraan)

I like Jango better, ONLY because Jango has a full set of Mandalorian armor (armor on legs). but Boba would never look right with full armor so I guess its a draw.

Boba has that air of creepy intimidation that Jango never really captured.

Exactly. I'd actually like to see what Jango's first response would be at meeting his adult son without knowing it's him. I think he'd wet himself. Boba just oozes intimidation. Hmm, I'm getting an idea for a story...

Jango didn't know where he was but it seemed to be the future. He stared at a man in a battered suit of Mandalorian Armor. A chill ran down his spine as the man turned the full weight of his stare on Jango. There was something familiar yet chillingly disturbing.

Boba Fett lifted his blaster rifle. "Hello, father."

I wrote a story like that once. It had Jango traveling through time, without knowing it, and he met up with Boba, and at first they didn't know who each other was, and they started fighting, then they gave a truce and started talking. At the time I loved the fic, I thought it was brilliant. But now, I'm not so sure. I don't know if I even still have that one, it was a long time ago. I'll have to dig around and see if I can find it....

But you can write one like that too, not saying you stole my idea, cause even your little bit right there is probably better than my whole fic put together. :P

I vote Boba, firstly because he looks cooler, all battered and with a cape.  More importantly, however, I prefer him for the personality.  I don't remember Jango ever talking about his moral code/honor in the comics (though to his credit, there's not much material on him that we have to read.)  Boba, on the other hand, is heartless on the surface, but actually donates to orphans ("Twin Engines of Destruction") and spares the lives of people who deserve it, such as those who care for children (i.e. "No Disintegrations Please" and Star Wars Tales #18).  But don't get me wrong, Jango's cool too.  Just not the same.  Jango doesn't have the mystery (and yes, I still think Boba's mystery is there) and intrigue that Boba does.
