Jedi Master who killed Jango Fett
A legend among his peers, Windu was a respected senior member of the Jedi Council. Although he mostly provided leadership from the Jedi Temple, Mace was also known for confronting threats to the Republic when needed to. It was Mace, who with a legion of Jedi at his side went on a rescue mission to Geonosis to help save Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and Padme' Amadala after they were captured by the Separtists. During the ferocious battle that insued inside the Geonosian Arena, Mace was confronted by the Mandalorian bounty hunter, Jango Fett.
It was in this brief encounter that Mace struck the fatal blow, beheading Jango and ending his infamous career. However in doing so, Mace made a new enemy-Boba Fett-the "son" of the older Fett.
It was this deathblow that helped create Boba's deep rooted hatred toward the Jedi. It became Boba's mission in life to avenge his father's death and kill Mace Windu. It wouldn't be until several years later that Boba would get this opportunity after a chance encounter with Anakin Skywalker. Under the disguise of providing the Republic with vital information regarding the identity of Darth Tyrannus and the mystery behind the creation of the Clone Soldiers for the Republic, Boba was able to gain access inside the Jedi Temple as a guest. After arriving at the Temple, Boba prepared to exact his punishment on Mace.
With the help of both Hat Lo, an underworld representative for Jabba the Hutt on Coruscant, and Elan Sleazebaggano, an escort and drug dealer in the seedy districts of Coruscant, Boba was able to acquire an assortment of weapons to help take down Mace. Weapons in tow, Boba returned to the Jedi Temple and began sneaking his way to Mace's quarters. However, Mace wasn't in his room when Boba finally burst in, leaving Fett to recall where else the jedi master could be. Then Boba remembered the meeting that he was supposed to have with Palpatine that evening and figured that Mace would be there himself at the Supreme Chancellor's office giving him an update on the Jedi's status on the field.
Breaking into the Chancellor's office, Boba finally confronted the man that had made him into an orphan all those years ago. Mace was caught off guard by the sudden attack from this stranger, but nonetheless managed to dodge the onslaught before eventually gaining the upper hand. Several times, Mace tried to make Boba stop his attack because he didn't want to be forced to kill him but the young Fett would not quit despite being overpowered. With no other choice, Mace prepared to strike down Boba, before he was interrupted by the sudden appearance of Palpatine and his entourage of red royal guards. Palpatine sent Mace away despite the jedi's unwillingness of leaving the young bounty hunter unpunished.
Although Boba was unable to exact his vengance upon Mace, he decided to let it go after he realized that Palpatine was secretly planning something to get back at Mace and the other Jedi. Even though Mace would not perish at the hands of Boba Fett, he would die shortly afterwards at the hands of Palpatine himself, aided by the "Chosen One", Anakin Skywalker. Palpatine's plan to destroy to Jedi would follow afterwards, when Order 66 was enacted.
Trivia
"Revenge of the Sith" almost featured Boba Fett killing Mace Windu, but George Lucas scrapped the idea, as seen in this official concept art by Warren Fu, noting that Boba would be just 16 years old and therefore too young.
