Before the beginning of the Clone Wars, little attention was paid by the people of the Republic to the barren world of Geonosis. The discovery of a Separatist stronghold by Obi-Wan Kenobi, however, and his subsequent capture, led the Jedi to dispatch reinforcements to the desert world. There, on the vast alkali plains of this blasted and rocky world, the first battle of the Clone Wars was fought, and the name Geonosis was forever seared into the pages of galactic history.
