Topic: General Grievous' Origins got screwed up by the CW

I was browsing the updated version of the Cartoon Network/ Clone Wars when i came across this little piece of information in the Character Guide:

"A warlord from planet Kalee, General Grievous always wanted to be a Jedi, but lacked force sesitivity. Furious that his powers would never equal a Jedi's, Grievous vowed to destory the Order. He replaced his body parts with robotic limbs that give him super human strength and a agility. Now Grievous has the power to rival any Jedi."

What a load of Crap! THIS is the real reason he had to have robotic parts welded on to him:

"Grievous' war record had attracted the attention of San Hill, Chairman of the InterGalactic Banking Clan. His contacts within Count Dooku's growing Separatist movement had caught the scent of profound galactic change in the air, and Hill began looking for leverage and advantage in the inevitable civil war that was brewing. He saw in Grievous a valuable asset. In exchange for supporting Kalee's staggering debts incurred in the planet's war with the Huks, the Banking Clan bought Grievous' eternal services as an intimidator and warrior.

It was this strong warrior spirit that transformed into profound anger, embarrassment and outrage that he should be crippled by so mundane a fate. General Grievous -- decorated champion of the Kaleesh, vanquisher of so many Huk warlords, grinder of the enemy's bones -- was fatally injured in a shuttle crash.

With his ally Poggle the Lesser, San Hill had targeted Grievous' shuttle for sabotage resulting in a terrible accident. Suspended in bacta, Grievous' shattered form was kept alive. He had not met an ignoble end; he was not cheated of a warrior's death. The technological wizards of the Banking Clan and the Geonosian foundries rebuilt him. They then presented their cyborg killer to Count Dooku as a gift."

Is this the reason why General Grivious sucks so much in the series?
Is this what David Filoni considers the General to be? A whiny alien from a backwater planet who wanted to be a jedi? but couldent?

wow what crap, everyone knows that Grievous' death/transformation aboard that shuttle was planned by Dooku, who was instructed by Sidious.

You see? Didn't I say this would happen? So long ago, didn't I say? I said so. And now I'm right. I told you so, I told you so, I told you so! Did anyone listen to me? Nooooo. "Give us a SW tv show," you all said. "We want a SW tv show." Well now you got it and look what it's doing. Exactly what I said it would. In five years no one will remember Grevious' TRUE origins, oh no. Newbie kids who watch it on tv and don't bother reading anything will spread the word about this non-canonity and pretty soon it'll be common knowledge and no one will remember some obscure reference in a comic to Grevious' origins. I hope you're all happy.

They could both be right. Also I believe Dooku told Grievous that the jedi shot down the shuttle so Grievous could gain a hate for them.

They could both work together and both be parts of the whole story, just TCW doesn't tell it all and onloy a bit to make kids understand.

Clone Wars would not change any Star Wars facts that are already there so I suspect both work,

I hate it when they mess stuff up like this. What a lame Grevious backstory. Btw, did Grevious ever find out he was set up to crash?
Anyway, I'm fighting on Halopedia right now because they say the average elite height is 8' 6", because it was written in a Prima guide. But in the bestarium book written by BUNGIE packaged with Halo 3 LE, not sold separately, says it is 2.2 meters, or 7' 2.6". There are just too many n00bs in the world.

They can not work together because Grevious did NOT cut off his arms and legs. In fact he hates being half-robotic.

At least there not screwing up the entire history of a character. Like saying Master Chief is in reality a really talktive guy who actually volenteered for the army and is against alien killing.

That was because during his surgery they (the banking clan) had several 'mind controling' devices implanted inside his brain, I bet if they hadent screwed with his mind, he would seen/discovered the plot against him and end up fighting/killing Dooku on his own.

I don't remember myself shouting and clamoring for a Star Wars TV show. I knew the moment it was going to be this cartoon that those creating would find more than ample ways to make a mess of things. And lo and behold they have.

This Dave Filoni is pitiful. He claims to be a fan. He proves with every word that he does not actually care because he has so many contradictions and fallacies. If he took TWO seconds to just have his assistant even check stuff in the simplest of ways, such as consulting Starwars.com, then pathetic things like this with Grevious.

Grievous is one of the most under-used and yet promising villains of the saga. He and Maul just get the crappy short end of the stick when it comes to screen time and character development, because they have NONE. All we know is they are bad and we're not supposed to like them. You know what makes Darth Vader one of the greatest villains of all time? Character development lol

welcome to star wars continuity. its what happens when lucas just lets people write his characters in novels and so on- for money grabbing, only to totally ignore all of it. for example anybody remember who "jaster mereel"...case rested.

and i echo "therealmccoy" maul should have been around longer, IMO the most menacing villain of the prequels.

The Jaster Mareel thing was fixed up. People thought they might be the same person cause of the armor, and the New Essential Guide to Characters I believe it is, says that Boba does not discourage this rumor and might have even started it himself to help surround himself with mystery.

I'd like to see how they fix this one. They probably won't. No one bothered to fix what the original Clone Wars cartoons messed up.

I think The 17th Arbiter ie, the one from Halo Wars, is 8'6, but is unusually tall for an elite. You see him compared to others, and he dwarfs them.

Jeez... It could just be Cartoon Network screw up... There was no mention of this in the series whatsoever.

You are right Mandal The grievous history is false. The way you told it was how I had heard it back when Grevious was first introduced. They should retract the histroy that is on cartoon network and apologize for the misrepresentation
