Topic: Christmas 2008

Well it's drawing near to December and I'm going to start this off.  This will be a general Christmas thread.  Wishlists, and other stuff.  And songs or anything.

To kick it off I will post this video.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V33tgez-Hug

If you know of August Burns Red, yes they are a metalcore band (a good one I think), but if you don't like metalcore/ screamo, I can assure you there is no screaming.  I love Carol of the Bells in the first place.  This is just Carol of the Bells but metalfied.  I now have a new take on Christmas songs.  Double basses are a must.

So yah general Christmas thread, have fun!

Re: Christmas 2008

I love Carol of the Bells, it's one my most favorite songs ever. But I don't really like that one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0IwpRzWL_4 This one's so much better. wink Without a doubt one of my favorite version of the song. I have, I think 73 versions of the song on my computer.

In other Christmas stuff, we have the tree up and some lights and decorations. We might be putting up the outside lights today. I have window stickies up. And we have a few wrapped presents under the tree.

And Christmas music is in almost all the stores now, which isn't as annoying as I'd thought. Though work hasn't got it yet. They probably will when I go back tomorrow. Which isn't so bad now that we're mixing it with regular music. A few years ago when we weren't I went insane.

Christmas is better than Thanksgiving. A holiday for food is not a time to work in a grocery store. Christmas, however, is easy in comparison.

Re: Christmas 2008

I cannot be bothered with Christmas this year. I will like it when it arrives but it is the present aspect that I cannot get enthusiastic about. I do not want to buy anything for anyone and I do not want anything in return.

I have got some books and I am going to make some decorations with the younglings soon. I will get the decorations out in the next few days.

Re: Christmas 2008

That is fantastic Draco big_smile

I have got my festive avatar on now big_smile I think I will have to sort through the decorations soon. Though I have to start making Christmas presents soon. In fact I will have to start tonight as I will have to post some of them. If I get them done now I can send them by slow and inexpensive post (after spending a lot on my step daughter I have to make the rest of our Christmas as inexpensive as possible)

Re: Christmas 2008

I survived working Black Friday. This year Christmas will be a quiet affair at home with my father and possibly uncle.

Re: Christmas 2008

Not even November and you guys ALREADY had the tree up and the lights out? For crying out, loud, thats too EARLY. And what for what, to throw it out December 26th and have all the presents put away as well? Time off is for you to enjoy it the most, not get it all thrown up as quick as humanly possible! =/

Re: Christmas 2008

Winter break starts in two more weeks for me. Just....two.....more.....

And the only thing standing between me and home sweet home is an army of final examinations and essay due dates. Damn.

I haven't really thought about christmas, sadly enough. Maybe it's because they keep us busy, but that's only part of it. Frankly I'm starting to think I've become a little disenchanted with it. I'd have to say the part I'm most looking forward to is the reunion of The Herd, the amazing and stunningly attractive band of heroes that are my friends. College scattered our little fellowship literally across the country, from California, to Florida, to frigid Vermont, and I haven't seen some of them since we parted ways this past summer. This reuniting will be nothing short of legendary.

Something I've noticed over the past few years, as far as presents and wish-lists are concerned: I don't really know what I want anymore. I'm not sure if this is a common trend as people graduate from begging for video games and expensive name-brand clothes, or if I became self-actualized or something overnight, but I've come up clueless every year when my mom says "All your aunts and uncles are asking me, what do you want for christmas?"

I just want to mail them a plain white envelope with an enclosed "IDK N00BZ0R!!!"

But really, it's kind of sad. I asked for a Mossberg now that I've thankfully reached the golden age of legal firearm ownership, but both of my parents are in the medical profession, and pretty much despise guns and anything to do with them. I tell anyone that asks that I'm the adopted child of Lara Croft and Sam Fisher.

But I mean really, what horrible luck. My philosophy major friend gets a shotgun thrown at him by his uncle as a gift for no real reason, and the Criminal Justice major at a military college gets the anti-gun family. 53R10U5LY, 17'5  R3411Y  64Y. 50 64Y I'V3 R350R73D 2 1337 5P34K.

Umm ya.....Merry Christmas!

((I would like to blame any randomness/1337-speak on the daunting prospect of aforementioned exams starting TOMORROW. Feliz Navidad.))

Re: Christmas 2008

Whats everyones favorite TV special? I rather like the newcomer Shrek the Halls. Charlie Brown Christmas is an old family favorite also. I don't exactly have a favorite, I guess. But I don't like a lot of the RakinBass ones (Go figure when you make a crapload of specials, not all of them are gonna be great). Some are good (Rudoplh, Frosty), some aren't bad, but not super great either, just there (Santa Claus is Comin to Town), and some are just plain "What where they THINGKING?!" (Rudoplh and Frostys Christmas in July come to mind, as well as Shining New Year and Little Drummer Boy [both yes there are two]). Grandma got Run Over by a Reindeer is always the wrost special in the history of ever though, hands down.

Re: Christmas 2008

A Muppet Christmas Carol, it's a great adaptation and very entertaining. Rudolph, The Year Without A Santa Claus...

I have to do some shopping this weekend. Shoud be simple.

Just a simple man trying to make his way in the universe.

Re: Christmas 2008

I like Charlie Brown, Grinch, Rodolph, and South Park's Woodland Critter Christmas the best. I have Shrek the Halls but haven't seen it yet, keep meaning to do that.

And who could forget the Holiday Special? wink

I prefer the Star Wars Holiday Special, personally.

Re: Christmas 2008

I had never been able to track down a copy for years, then a physics teacher/robotics advisor/ friend of mine informed me that he owned one. After a robotics team get together one night, he agreed to put it in, but only on the condition that he could  leave the room. The rest of us came rather close to gouging out our eyes with alan wrenches.

Re: Christmas 2008

http://www.starwars.com/video/view/000594.html#rss Course there's always that Fett Holiday Special. lol

The Holiday Special is awful. Everyone must see it at least once, but never any more, it's almost even worse the second time round, cause you know what's going to happen. It's like watching a train wreck in slow motion. You know what's going to happen and that somehow makes it that much worse.

In the music video for "White & Nerdy," Weird Al buys a copy of the SWHS off the street.

Re: Christmas 2008

No way I'm ever watching the Holiday Special! Reading about it is bad enough. The closest I'll ever come is with the cartoon, which by no means is some great thing either. The horrible, cheap animation style makes me want to cry as well. I can forgive Fett for not being accuratly coloured since he was still in the developing stage at the time. But there is NO excuse for everyone else! >_<
