Topic: Jango's Legacy

Do you think that Jango really wanted Boba to be a bounty hunter like him? or was he simply teaching Boba the only thing he knew?

I think it was likely that Jango was teaching Boba what he was good at and since Boba was his clone, Jango knew Boba would excel at it.

Re: Jango's Legacy

I think Jango had a large enough sized ego to want Boba to follow in his footsteps. I believe that was the reason behind having Boba created in the first place. Jango even went through the trouble of creating a holo book of sorts, for the training and guidance of Boba in the event of his death. Had he not seriously wanted Boba to be a bounty hunter, or rather wanted Boba to choose I do not think that he would have done that.  It was more than just "well I'll teach him the only thing I know" because Jango left enough credits for Boba so that he really could have persued any career he really wanted. But he guided and worked him to want to be a bounty hunter.

Re: Jango's Legacy

Same here, from what I read Jango made up his mind a long time ago that Boba would be his legacy. The way Boba was raised seemed to confirm that even furtther. If he had wanted Boba to choose for himself he would havwe had him do tihngs like go to school and associate more with children his own age.

I've heard of this book but have no idea what was in it.  Is there anywhere that some or all of what is in it is writen?  If there is, I'd love to see it to confirm/scrap my own opinion on the subject

And my opinion remains until proven otherwise that Jango was STILL Mando at heart, that he never let go of his role as 'Last of the True Mandalorians,' and weather or not he had a scheme in mind to bring the Mandalorians back, he was passing along his Mando heritage to Boba

It's in The Fight to Survive. Maybe tomorrow I'll see if I can find what it says and post it here. But not right now, right now it's very early morning and I'm only awake for a bit before I go back to bed. But it says things like, "Jabba will help you, but don't trust him" or something, pretty much instructions on where he would learn things like self reliance and stuff.

From what I remember, it was just a bunch of short tips.

Jango definatially wanted Boba to me a bounty hunter.

Re: Jango's Legacy

Ok, it's a day late but here it is:

It starts with Jango saying that Boba's seeing this because he's dead and that he loves Boba, but now Boba needs to find three things on his own. "The first is self-sufficiency. For this you must find Tryanus to access the credits I've put aside for you. The second is knowledge. For knowledge you must find Jabba. He will not give it; you must take it. The third and the most important is power. But beware, sometimes it is dangerous. And one last thing, Boba... Hold onto the book. Keep it close to you. Open it when you need it. It will guide you when you read it. It is not a story but a Way. Follow this Way and you will be a great bounty hunter someday. I was sure of it when I was alive, and I am sure of it still."

And, actually, I'd forgotten, I have all his tips on my site here: [ADMIN: Defunct link to starwarsdotcom dot com removed.]

Some of them are things the book tells Boba, others are things Jango said early on in Fight to Survive, others are things Boba remembers Jango has having said. It's not a very up-to-date list, it's missing the last two or three books of the series. But it has the first three or four.

Re: Jango's Legacy

Yes. That would be what I was referring to. Its like the Jedi Code, but for Bounty Hunters. That must have took some time/ energy to put together Miba. Good job, it looks nice.

Re: Jango's Legacy

yeah I remember reading that too, I had forgotten until you mentioned it

it would have been interesting if Boba had rebelled and said "Dad I don't want to be a bounty hunter, I like my head on my shoulders" tongue

If Boba were to do anything else I get the feeling he might be a pilot instead. He seemed to love flying.

Re: Jango's Legacy

I don't know what Jango wanted Boba to do,but I certainly can't imagine Boba working in a cantina serving juma juice....:P

No he wouldn't have the personality for that and it would also be a waste of his intelligence.

Re: Jango's Legacy

Its just like being a bounty hunter for people, except there less danger. Instead of people you go after drinks.

Re: Jango's Legacy

I don't think he'd be wearing Mando armor. Not unless he messed up Jabba's order, that is.

Well at any rate he'd have to wear a nice black bowtie.
