D walked through the town to the outskirts with an elegant pace, paying no attention to the children running around him or the farmers and merchants staring at him as he passes by. An hour later, he reached what appeared to be a run-down castle. There was a small entrance on the far right side, D was told by the Expedition Team that had gone to the castle.
'But none of them have gone inside it. How can they be called an expedition team?' The dhampir stood confused.
'Who knows? Clearly, something bad went inside. From what I can tell, Vampyric experimenting.' Came a voice from what almost seemed nowhere, but was in fact, D's left hand.
'Well, there's only one way in, so it looks like we're taking a journey. I should probably set up camp, as I don't feel I'll be returning before nightfall.'
'I figured you'd say that.'
D walked until he was about 4-5 yards from the castle entrance. He set up a little tent, got some wood for making a fire later, and went head-on into the castle remains.
Eventually having sight in the darkness, maneuvering the castle became much easier. The first thing D noticed were the paintings aligned on the walls.
'Well, I'll be damned.' Left Hand spat out.
'Technically you are, since you're stuck with me.' D replied witty with a smirk on his face.
'Ha ha. Keep looking around, pretty boy.'
D continued to walk about the castle, and more portraits appeared. Some were profiles, others depicting battles and experiments. Most of the portraits were people who looked too good to be human. Others were scientists, whom most likely conducted experiments in the castle. Eventually, D made his way into a larger room, and after what seemed like hours of walking, found a chair and sat down. The first thing he noticed, as he made his way into the chamber, was the huge portrait of a very handsome man on the other side of the room.
'Is that-' a very puzzled Left Hand quizzed.
'Yeah, it's him.' D replied softly.
