Lizzie had to stop herself from smiling. For some reason the men seemed to think she was harmless in her current predicament. Her only real threat at the moment was the werewolf standing over her.
"Sorry," she said briefly before kicking him in the groin and rolling away. She ducked and wove her way through the trees almost certain that she would eventually be followed. When she was at a safe distance she drew her small crossbow and decided to cover the werewolf, he deserved some compensation for the kick she'd just dealt him.
It seemed that the three strangers now turned on each other. Obviously they thought the werewolf was incapacitated for the moment. They should be so lucky.
The werewolf was on his feet started to head toward the three already locked in battle. It was then that he pivoted to look in Lizzie's direction. She suddenly wished she'd kept running. He headed straight towards her. Deciding that it was pointless in running, Lizzie holstered the small crossbow and stepped out from her cover raising her hands in surrender.
The werewolf was clearly surprised. "Now if you want a conversation with me, I'd prefer it without the stake."
This actually induced a small smile from the wolf, "You've got some nerve."
Lizzie shrugged and smiled, "As I said I've got nothing against werewolves."
"The kick to my privates would suggest otherwise." The werewolf pointed out.
Again Lizzie shrugged, "A means to an end. Our friends are happy enough trying to kill each other rather than having a multiple Mexican Standoff."
The wolf nodded, "Point taken. So my question remains, why are you not tainted like the other vampires?"
"That is a long story and I don't believe we have the luxury of time." Lizzie looked at the sky that was already starting to turn a navy blue.
"You might not, but I do." The werewolf told.
Lizzie shook her head, "You forget the dueling trio over there."
"Good point. You will come with me, I shall not enter your den." The wolf stated.
Lizzie wasn't particularly comfortable with that idea. "How about I meet you back here at sunset, I don't mean you harm but it doesn't mean I trust you."
