Carth made his way to the barricade. The Lieutenant in charge was a quiet, jittery fellow, he had just gotten out of ROTC and was on his first assignment. He was pared with an old friend of Carth's, Lance Odem.
He served as his squad leader during the Mandolorain Wars, and refuse a battle field commission saying, "If I wanted to sit in behind everybody while they fought I wouldn't have signed up." Lance had a gruff voice that was scary and caring at the same time. He had a long scar down his face that cost him almost all his vision in this right eye.
Carth scuttled over to the lieutenant, crouching to avoid blaster fire. "Lieutenant, your doing a fine job here, a lesser man would have retreated by now." "S-sir, um, I-I, er-" the Lieutenant stuttered. "I have a couple of heavy machine guns brought down here for ya, keep up the good work, I believe in you, son." The Lieutenant's chest swelled and he replied,"Yes, Sir"
Carth scuttled over to the other side of the hall, where Odem was. "Status report, 1st sergeant," Carth said cracking a smile.
"Skipper, we've gotta find somebody to take that dude's place, he so green...anyway, the barricade's at 70%, but we've gotta get more stuff that made of steel. The troops are at about 60% combat efficiency. He are scraping bottom on food...the list goes on, but you need to find a new commander for this barricade."
"Why, your the best guy I have," replied Carth over the blaster fire. "These men listen to you, not to him, got it? Your their leader, not that bookworm."
A soldier fell dead beside them.
"You should have more guys comin' in soon," said Carth to Odem.
"Send us some food and water!" Odem said and Carth scuttled around the hallways farthest corner.
