Re: Seventh Generation console match up

I have both a Wii & 360, both are worth buying. the PS3 is a total ripoff at the moment (i live in the UK so won't be getting any price drop, just a bundle deal sad  ) I spend most of my time on my 360, just waiting for some more killer
aps to come out on the Wii. big_smile   I'm sorry Draco but you do have to pay to get the old games.

Re: Seventh Generation console match up

I thought that you used "Wii points" to get them. About how much do they cost?

Re: Seventh Generation console match up

Bah. I've tried to play the Wii, but it's to weird. (Nunchuck controller? So stupid.) I personally love the 360, but I started off with a PS2, then got an Xbox. Thusly, I used to be a Sony person, but I've been converted to Microsoft. The only thing I don't like is the fact that it is free to play online with any Sony PS system, but you have to pay a monthly fee for Xbox live. Oh well, I guess every great thing has it's drawbacks. And as for the PS3, well, my best friend has one, and the graphics are the same on the 360. I don't care what anyone says, we had them side-by-side playing the exact same game, on the exact same brand TV. (We were playing Oblivion, at went to the exact same place on the map and could not tell the difference.) So there, that is my point of view.

And draco, I'm not sure about that one...I have something called "Microsoft points" and I use them to download stuff from Xbox live, but that's Microsoft for ya. (I bet Nintendo copied Microsoft.) *insert snickering laugh here*

I have never been bothered about getting a console but Devil Boy would like to get a PS3 at some point

Though the WII does look fun and I am beginning to warm to the idea of getting one of those big_smile

Re: Seventh Generation console match up

I can't believe I got a Wii this year!

So far I only have two games...not surprising at 50 dollars U.S.
Prince of Persia: Rival Swords (it's just a Wi version of The Two Thrones though, still fun)
Mortal Kombat Armageddon: The Wii version has one extra character, Khameleon putting it at 63 playable characters once you've unlocked them all. The create a fighter option is terribly fun, I've bought all the appearance options for the male fighter so far.

And the Wii does have the Wii points, you either buy a card with points on it or use a credit card to buy a set number of points. I used ten dollars to buy 1,000 points and get a digitally updated Star Fox 64 (It has a different name outside of the U.S. Lylat Wars I believe)

The control set-up could not be easier, it's fun and gets you away from the standard button mashing.

As for the PS3, no point in getting one now, since the one game I did want to play on it sucks. Yeah, Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire.

By the way, Nintendo is leading the console race with Microsoft taking up the rear. Aren't they supposed to lose quite a bit of money from fixing all those broken systems for free now?

Re: Seventh Generation console match up

yep, microsoft had to eat over a billion with the busted xbox360s.
mine has died twice...very annoying. but im an online gamer and this is the system for that.
by the way GT- "the last CUJO" i can be found playing gears and f.e.a.r. currently.
i played with "fetterthanyou"- a bit, he is nasty with the sniper.

ps3 just has no games right now...and not many exclusives outside of MSG and FF.
but could prove to be the winner in time. lagging badly right now

as far as wii leading the console race...i would have to see the numbers to believe it.
i think nintendo aims for the kiddie market(not a knock), it sort of reminds me of apple computers,
innovative and appeals to a more niche audience but not to the hardcore gamers.
i have many friends that work in retail and all the wii's that sell r to kids or girls.
the availability of old titles sound cool in theory, but if you try playing older games much you get sort of bored.
unless its a fave title. ie- shadows of the empire.

Re: Seventh Generation console match up

I'm not the biggest gamer, and I like old platformers, so the Wii would be good for me.

Re: Seventh Generation console match up

Let me pull up the numbers see if it wasn't...my imagination, or number of console sales. I apologize for jumping the gun.

wikipedia article wrote:

By April 2007, the Wall Street Journal declared Nintendo had "become the company to beat in the games business" with the Wii outselling its home system rivals and overshadowing the better selling Nintendo DS portable, also by Nintendo.[49] Nintendo's profits were up 77% on the fiscal year due to Wii and Nintendo DS sales.[50]

On June 4, 2007, it was announced that the Wii was outselling the PlayStation 3 by a five-to-one margin in Japan.[51]. As of July 3 2007, this has increased to a margin of six to one

Yea, console sales, not profit. I'm afraid the best I could do was find this article and look through the references. Not the best source of information
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/6265368.stm

Either way, Naruto Clash of Ninja: Revolution this fall. American exclusive.

And someone please explain to me what the hell a kiddie game is? I get something like, "Barney's Happy Fun Time Adventure" but it sounds like a generic arguement with vague background tackled to it. I mean, I haven't noticed anything as bad as all that in my video game collection. Not that I'm that into them though.

Re: Seventh Generation console match up

i looked as well, the wordage gets a shade confusing when they introduce demographics and domestic sales etc...
As homer simpson once said "people can use statistics to prove anything 45% of all people know that."

but i wouldnt be surprised if nintendo was ahead.

kiddie games=anything that could be played in front of all ages ie- mario,
super smash melee...well alot of nintendo titles. im not saying that they cant be enjoyed by all but are geared for that demographic.

obviously games of heavier content-man hunt, gears..., resident evil. r not advised for smaller kids. i perfer games that push the envelope content wise. probably cause of the law of diminishing returns, who knows.

Re: Seventh Generation console match up

I must say the one that is coming for the PS3 that looks promising is Lair.  That looks pretty cool.  But for now I'm enjoying playing Oblivion for the 360.  In my opinion one of the best RPGs ever.

I agree 100% Man!

Re: Seventh Generation console match up

I was going through the VG Cats archive (great online comic by the way) and stumbled on this again and was suddenly filled with the desire to share it.
http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=212
I would have just used the IMG tag but the picture is a little large.

I was never too into horror at large, and first person shooters give me a headache. Mario bores me mostly because there are way too many generic titles(golf, baseball, tennis, etc), and to be honest the real reason I got a gamecube was because of Sonic Adventure DX and Adventure 2 battle.

While I'm on the subject, I need to go look up DOA.

Re: Seventh Generation console match up

That comic is brilliant Maltese, i'm SO jealous about Naruto : Clash Of Ninja  being an american exclusive sad. (BIG NARUTO FAN!!!)

Sonic Adventure 2 was a brilliant game on the cube, let's hope Sega bring out some good sonic games on the Wii, i know they've done Sonic and the Secret Rings which is supposed to be good. i'm looking for something more in the vein of SA2.

Thanks for agreeing Karson. My GT on my 360 is the same as my name here "ninjaX008" if anyone wants to play at all big_smile
