Re: Old or New Trilogy?
I definitely prefer the Originals to the Special Edition, because on my videotapes there is no Rystall, and Han shoots first. But I do like the scene in ANH where Boba is with Jabba talking to Han.

I don't have the original VHS tapes... I used to have them when I was younger, but the might have belonged to my mom's boyfriend... I can't remember.

Miss Chrys, tonight at Taco Hell my husband and I were having this exact discussion and came to the same conclusion: Originals have more to offer: Han shoots first, Boba doesn't behave like a bucket headed frat boy, and Rystall the drag queen of Tatooine never ever ever existed.
I did like the special effects in the special edition though: a guilty pleasure. At first I didn't mind them, taking individually, but when you add all the changes up together, UUGGHH!
But the Emporer is fixed. That is definately the best addition to the new Special Edition.
The Old trilogy, you can't beat the classics.
I don't particullarly like either.
Expanded Universe for this one.
But the Emperor is fixed.
I think they should have left the Emperor alone, just because it's movie history. Even when you have bloopers in your movie, I think they should be left alone once the film's in the theater. It takes away from the fun of the movie if you can't see all the oddities. And also, replacing the Emperor was a terrible insult to the chimp-eyed old lady who played him.
I have only a few problems with the Emperor change. And that is that the new holo should be mixed with the old too. Like, the new one is way too bright and I don't think he blinks even once. One of my biggest memories (no idea why) is of the Emperor blinking while he's talking. I cringed so badly during the new one when I first saw it I had to turn it off. Why doesn't he blink???
The original trilogy, with no doubt in my mind, is the better of the two. The new trilogy is a vast disappointment, and I think the Star Wars universe would actually be better without them. They killed Fett's mysterious past. KILLED IT! And on top of that, they gave him a father who's not a third as good as he is. I don't watch any of the new trilogy when I cna help it. Once each is enough for me. The OT however, I could watch for hours on end...wait, I did.
Me, The Yautja, The Gunslinger, and a few of my other friends had a 'Star Wars Day' where we watched through the entire original trilogy hyped up on sugar and caffeine. Few bottles of Coca Cola, few bags of Tostitos (mild salsa for The Yautja), the original Star Wars Trilogy, and you've got one insane/awesome day.

I can't help it! I have a sensitive stomach.
LOL, that sounds like fun. I think I would have lost it come Ewok time, though.
I have to go with the Classic Trilogy........mostly because that is where i find my favorite char.......and he isnt just a little boy.......Boba Fett ROCKS ya'll.
