Well something that i still ask myself is-why did Boba Fett rocket off the sailbarge next to Luke? isnt that really dangerous? i mean Lukes got a lightsaber, and Boba saw what happened to Jango when Mace got close. So why did Fett do that? What was he attempting, do you think?

im not sure what your saying here because he doesnt rocket off the sailbarge next to luke but lands on it next to Luke and i believe he did it because he learned from his father and believed he could defeat jedi ( which he has done before many times i believe...i mean he almost beat Vader and luke isn't exactly the chosen 1 ) and to answer your last question...he was attempting to kill Luke hence why he got so close. hope this helped

Actually, at my school a friend pointed out, right after Episode III, that Luke and Leia are th chosen ones. I don't really feel like saying it though.... Just remember what Yoda said, about the prophecy being read wrong possibly.

Um, yeah, ANYWAYS I don't think Boba felt very threatend of Luke, considering he didn't really have the proper training most Jedi's have, and since Boba was more battle-hardened then Luke. Besides, Luke wasnt the one who set off the Emergancy start on his jetpack, sent him flying into the side of th Sail Barge, and into the Sarlacc, was he? XD

lol you got a point there a blind han solo turned out to be more dangerous then a seeing jedi luke skywalker.

Your god won't be there to save you, or maybe I will
December 6, 2006 9:01 pm #

luke and leia arent the chosen ones, anakin is Lucas said so himself. and no it was Solo while he was still blind

You know maybe Luke was wearing fabulous aftershave and Fett wanted to know where he got it from :P

Seriously, I think he was trying to ensure his "merchandise" (Han) was not allowed to escape. Would have put a blip on his resume.

Yeah he rockets off Jabbas "Sailbarge" which is the huge thing, onto the "skiff" next to Luke. And it did kinda help but what i think is that Fett should've seen that Luke could easily cut his gun in half with his lightsaber, so either Fett didn't think Luke could or he didn't mind losing his rifle.....i don't know. I wouldn't have done that until after shooting a few shots at Luke.

Ah yes if Solo escaped Fett would've looked bad. Good point.

I think Boba underestimated Luke because Luke was so young. Luke didn't even have a beard.

You don't have to be old to have a beard. Plenty of guys at my old HS had beards, and none of them were old..... Well, older then ME anyways! XD

Luke didn't have a beard on the front of Dark Nest.....

He was pretty old by then....

Not all people grow facial hair, that's a fact.

Back on topic.
Why Fett did that.. Honestly no idea, there wasn't really sense in making that move.
I think he underestimated Luke's abilities, since he was able to defeat Jedi who have
been trained their whole life using the Force, Luke was still learning.

December 8, 2006 12:42 pm #

Well I was on topic, cos I was trying to say that Boba seeing him having no beard would not have been the reason as to why he stood so close.

Could it have been that Fett's arrogance clouded his judgement...

Maybe he was in control of his arrogance before and after that incident, but having done what he's done, it wouldn't be surprising that he lost control....

A similar question, is why did Jango try to take on Mace Windu....

Maybe he fell on his head and then in a dazed state he went too close to Luke... Or maybe.....Ok...There's no reason to be any more facetious than I'm already being...

Sorry, but I'm not agreeing on this mentally challenged thing.  Then again I could be taking this too seriously (even though I love to use sarcasm, at times I am not good at recognizing it).  Jango isn't on my top ten list, but I still have the utmost respect for him.  I'll go even further when I find out why (on an appropriate board of course).

Considering he outwitted, outsmarted, and/or outmatched all the criminals, montross, and komari vosa, i'd say he's a litte smarter than "mentally challenged", DON'T YOU THINK???

Just because Boba is smarter than Jango doesn't mean Jango is retarded.

I didn't say playing the game proved he wasn't retarded, i mean his actions proved he was not "mentally challenged".

Problem Solved: As it wasn't bad enough George Lucas was going to kill Fett off but the reason he didn't have himshoot first before going to the skiff was becasue boba was well fought against Jedi and realized to take one down you have to be close, froma distance Luke just would have sent his shots back at him, up close less of a chance.

Jango is smarter than the average bear, but since Boba is a super-genius, that makes Jango a moron in comparison.  It's all relative.

That's pretty correct but can you give some examples of Boba Fett's genius to back it up?

There are plenty of examples of his genios including out smarting one of the smartest and quickest driods in the universe, and tricking Bossk into giving  away his ship.

Bossk is a goofy dinosaur but he's no idiot, and neither was Kast, or Dr. Evazan, or any of the other people Boba took out.  And in general, just the way he finds people and tracks them down is sort of Sherlockian.  Think of how smart Han is (in my opinion, at least) and how many times Boba has managed to find him.  Plus there are several times in the Bounty Hunter wars (i.e. the many space battles) in which he demonstrates his intellectuality.  (Sorry I can't offer more specific examples, but it's too early in the morning for me.)

Jango could outsmart Kast and maybe Evazan I don't know much about him all i know is half his face is messed up and he's wanted on 12 systems. And Bossk may not have been THAT stupid but let's say he has average intelligence. Outsmarting an average person isn't such a great accomplishment......Jango could outsmart Bossk easy.

Draco I will only agree if your toe-nail can operate a jetpack. Not saying it can't, just setting a standard. In my mind Jango isn't really a genius but he is definately not stupid. And if your only calling Jango stupid because he is not as smart as Boba, then 98% of the Star Wars population are now officially brain-dead.

ps. This has definately veered off topic, maybe this should be a new thread.

Back to an earlier topic, there was no reason for Boba to want to stop Han from escaping. If I am not mistaken he was already paid (twice) for Han before they went out on the sail barge. Meaning he could have played it a little safer since his job was technically to portect Jabba. I remember him only staying because Jabba offered him a body guard type job while Luke was still a threat.

Good... Bad... I'm the one with the gun.

Actually, my toe-nail can operate a jetpack. One of the main reasons that I find Jango idiotic is because he used two wrist-rockets on two guards who were right next to each other. They were also running away, and therefor not a threat. He could have used one wrist rocket, or two blaster bolts.
