I was wondering if your perception of Boba changed when you learnt he was a clone? I personally didn't like the idea of him being "one of many" I kinda felt that he wasn't his own person in some respects. I liked the idea of Boba being unique.

I strongly dislike his being a clone, but I do like that thety actually had a Jaster Mereel character.

I always thought of Boba as a Ruthless Soldier....And I'd heard a rumor that he was an Ex-Stormtrooper...

So I wasn't really affected...

I did think it was interesting that there was a rumor that he was a stormtrooper and then it turned out he was genetically the same as some of them...

Maybe a SW rumor created by someone who for soem reason or another had seen Boba under the helmet and had alo seen Clone Stormtroopers helmetless...

So... No my perception did not change....

I gotta agree with Humorbot5... the rumor that Boba Fett was a rogue Stormtrooper was pretty prevalent for quite some time, and I like that Lucas decided to tie those ends together for his origin.
Myself, I think Lucas' backstory was much more interesting than the original Jaster Mereel storyline. I'm glad that he ditched that idea in favor of the Jango Clone origin for the movie... plus, they depicted Jango as such a badass. Now we know where Boba gets it from.

Jango, a bad@$$, HA! Good joke!

Yeah. Badass. That's right.
What? He wasn't?

He hired an assassin to kill someone that he was hired to kill.

Yeah, that was annoying, I admit. Why did he subcontract that job, anyway? Killing a Senator would seem like a pretty tall order. Why trust it to someone else? I'm sure the EU expounds on this topic somewhere... I'll have to try and find out.
But back to the subject at hand:
~He did punk out Obi Wan.
~He wasted Coleman Trebor.
~He had Mace on the ropes (so to speak) until his jetpack failed.
~And most importantly, who was chosen by the Sith to be the template for the destruction of the Jedi? I'll give you a hint... He's enough of a badass to take on Jedi Councilmembers.

When you've got kids, you tend to start thinking about personal safety and taking care of yourself so you can take care of your little one.. I think that's why Jango hired Zam Wesell.

As for the Boba clone thing, I've got no trouble with it since I think the concept of the clones is pretty cool - I've always been fond of faceless cannon fodder, supersoldiers, bioweapons and so on.

Yeah, Ciepher's right on that point on Jango hiring Zam. Another reason he did it is cause I read (where... on a trading card? Insider? Action figure box? something like that) is cause he doesn't like to do assasinations but knew Zam did, and since he and Zam are partners pretty much I don't think it was that a big a deal to walk up to your best friend and go, "Hey, wanna help me out on a job?"

Anyway, at first I was upset over Boba being a clone, cause I thought clones were like 100% copies of the original. But Boba did turn out a bit different than Jango, even in looks. And he's also very unique, not "one of millions". The clonetroopers are far different from Boba, anyone who's read the young Boba books can easily see that much, Boba even points out differences. And Boba's unique enough to be like a real kid so anyone seeing Jango and Boba wouldn't think Boba's a clone. In fact, Zam didn't think so, she was even going on like, "No, really, where's his mom?" Anyway, I like this so much better than the old story that he was some cop who killed a prisoner and got kicked off planet like a criminal. It totally destroys the whole mystery "who's behind the mask" thing. If everyone on Concord Dawn knew of him, saw his face on tv, then...... there is no mystery. Even if Concord Dawn was beyond the outer rim, obviously if Boba can get offplanet other people can too and would go spread the rumors, go give out pictures of his face. You know, you could just go to the SW-version of ebay and pick up a picture of his face along with a life biography. No mystery at all. But with the clone, he's alone all the time on a planet of aliens that don't care about other planets and would therefore not be inclined to go selling his pictures, and it gives his life more of a tragicness to it. Now he's not some down-kickedoffthejob-cop who "did what his sense of justice says is right" and went, "Hmmm..... now what, now what.... back to a cop job? Nah, hmm... oh bounty hunting sounds like fun, ok but what shall I wear!!!" Now he's got a very good reason for what he wears, for what he does, how he acts, for everything. It gives him more character and more depth.

In the "Zam Wesell" comic, they both work on an assassination mission.

Just cause someone doesn't like doing something doesn't mean they won't do it at all.

Also maybe that was like a wake up call... I mean he almost got a planet destroyed in that one... He coulda been killed... He probably thought about the harsh reality of it all and what might happen to Boba if that happened...

I agree with Miba. I like the clone story better.

i think the whole thing wouldve been cooler if we couldve seen more of boba and jangos relationship as father and son..... then things wouldve made a little more sense.... but once more it was up to the EU to save the day....

I personally like the idea of Boba being a clone, merely for the fact that he is gentically like all the other clones, but he was raised by his 'father.'  Thus making him unique from all the other clones.  If you've read my post in the appeal of Republic Commandos thread, I like the idea of even though all these men are the same, individual personalities still shine through, and make them more human to me.

I couldn't stand the fact that Boba was an unaltered clone of Jango Fett but it grew on me evetually.

I liked the idea of Boba being an unaltered clone. It was fascinating seeing Boba as a kid and getting some background on what his life was like. I prefer it over the original story of him being an ex-journeyman protector. I was even more pleased to find out from the books he differs from Jango in some ways.

well Jango requested him to be diffrent from the other.

Not physically....

Just in the way that he doesn't age as fast (which I suppose is physically) and that he isn't as obedient.

I wanna know if the clones continue to grow old quickly or if their growth was only sped up while going through their training - but they age normally? No idea.

They age rapidly throughtout their lives.
Lucas made a mistake by changing the Stormtroopers voices to make them all sound like Jango as all the Jango of clones would've been dead by then.
Unless the Kaminoan's were still using Jango's dna.
They used other clone templates as well such as the son's Imperial governers ect and they recruited people like a real life army.
Although there weren't many volunteers in the Empire.
Mostly people that were forced to join or clones.

They never changed the stormtrooper voices. They're the same voices they've always been. Watch the movies again, you'll see.

And they wouldn't have been dead, not all of them anyway. They'd just be really old, like in their 60s. Cause their age is double whatever Boba's is. He was 10 in AOTC, and the clones were 20. In ANH he was about 30, so the clones would be about 60. At least I would assume.

I menat they would all be dead or retired.
If they lived long enough to reach retirement age.
I heard on the latest DVD release he had changed all the Stormtroopers voices.

I think that all of the Stormtroopers were either recruits.
                                                         or
                                                         Clones....

But not necessarily Jango Clones...

I definitely  heard somewhere that they got some Imperial officer bloke to be the new template....
And I think they got more than one....
