Yes, it's ironic that he was the one who called for Palpatine to be given more power. I always laugh hysterically at that part...that and, "I love Democracy. I love the Republic." But sadly, I don't think George meant us to laugh there.

Apparently noone has read the aforementioned (a few weeks ago) Star wars Tales classic: Failing Up With Jar-Jar Binks.
It reveals Jar-Jar as the secret puppet master behind Palpatine.

I read that, it was great. It's in Issue 20, the one with the Gungans and Ewoks on the cover.

Don't exactly blame you. He really didn't add that much to the Star Wars saga.
