Topic: Friending

We're putting the final touches on a new extension for this message board that allows you to friend other users.

The intention is to help build community.

We would like to beta test this feature with a few users, so please drop a comment here if you'd like us to enable the functionality for you.

There's nothing yet that it does "more" than a tag, which we may show as a count or as a list on your profile. It does not notify the other user and it doesn't show you when they posted or did something else on BFFC, but we may expand to that kind of functionality down the road.

There is the ability to unfriend, too, which is also "quiet." This is likely going to stay that way.

We can add it to some of the mods, so we can play around and test it out.

Maybe when some one who you follow posts or saves a collectible etc. anything that you think should be shown, In messages, you get a notification.

Bobafett2020, excellent idea. Already working on a "friend" feed first and then can build in notifications from that.

If this is still going on, I'd love to try it out for you. :)

Just to follow up to this older topic, this feature rolled out and has been a success.

352 profile follows and counting so far.

When logged in, visit someone's profile and you can follow (or unfollow if already following) them.

There's no "newsfeed" yet but things will highlight around the site if you're following that user.

More to come, but give it a try if you'd like.

"Newsfeed" of friends' updates has rolled out now on the home page. More to come but it now is filtering properly and quickly.
