Topic: Spin-Off Feature (About Boba Fett, Han Solo, Yoda...?)

Let this be a thread on all things preliminary for the spin-off film, which is not considered Star Wars Episode 7, but is a live-action feature film for theaters nonetheless.

In the 2/9/2013 Los Angeles Times, ESB/ROTJ writer Lawrence Kasdan, who's also an accomplished writer/director for other films, has an article by Noelene Clark (@NoeleneClark):

Personally, I'd prefer it if the spinoffs weren't about Fett.  I prefer a mysterious Boba that we know nothing about.  It makes him that much more intimidating.  Han Solo though, that'd be interesting.

I'm ecstatic about the Boba Fett film. Boba has been ridiculed for the Sarlacc incident in ROTJ long enough. His redemption is at hand. Also, I wanted a Boba Fett vs Cad Bane film, because I feel it would be an epic rite of passage for Boba. However, it seems the film will take place during the OT.

I would love to see a spin-off on Fett. Perhaps one about Han Solo and Fett. All of that animosity would make it awesome.

Great point. That's how things are looking, but it seems Episode 7 will come first.

I feel a spin off is inevitable but I have absolutely no idea how they will go about it. As long as they don't turn it into a sappy love story or whiny orphan thing I could be happy. I just want more bounty hunters, and like...space pirates.

I prefer the stories on obscure characters that were in the background of the films. I'd rather they leave Boba out of it as I felt they ruined the mystery of his character with the prequels.

Excellent point. It would be nice if he's just a supporting character, as ESB and ROTJ created the mystery after all.

I think that if they were to make a solo Boba Fett movie, set it in between A New Hope and Empire, and don't make Boba talk to much, keep his character strong and silent, but still have depth to him. The film should also revolve around his crew, maybe have Bossk and IG-88 as the main supporting characters, and save the rest of the crew for later. A western style would feel right (as mentioned by most people) and to have Tatoonie as the main planet, it would only add to this. The plot shouldn't be over complicated or concerning the whole galaxy, it would be nice to see the movie only take place on a couple of planets, and not have an over blown story. Boba is good at his job, so make him good at killing people. He should be known, feared, and hated by his enemies. The ending should possibly be him getting contacted by the Galactic Empire for a mission concerning Han Solo. If all of the elements are right, a Boba Fett would be a refreshing take on the character and the Star Wars universe. It SHOULD NOT be there for fan service to Boba, but instead shine light on his fascinating character.

There's a 30 year period between ROTJ and TFA. Let's see what Boba was doing post-Sarlacc. That's a lot of history to fill.

they're working on a movie about boba fett. and possibly a han solo and boba fett movie. i know they are working on a han solo movie.

I think that people are going to get burned out on Star Wars if they do any spin-off movies about any particular Star Wars characters. I don't mind them doing Rogue One but that's it. Maybe Boba Fett will play a small part in that movie. Who knows.

I retract my previous anti-Star Wars spinoff movies statement. Now that we're getting the Han Solo movie they need to just make Boba Fett be the main antagonist in it. I really wish that Christian Bale would've gotten the part as Han's mentor and not Woody Harrelson. But with Boba in it I'd go watch it about 60 times or more. :D

There will be a Boba movie. Then there won't be a Boba movie. Back and forth and back and forth. It's so frustrating! I think they'd be fools to not make it. He's too popular. There's much money to be made off of it.  lol

Maybe there should be a Dengar movie, they could do anything they please and have a Fett cameo :P

I would love if they made a Boba Fett Film. In my mind, I have the entirety of a Fett film already planned out. If I was the director of a Boba Fett Film it wouldn’t be an origin story it would be multiple story about Missions Fett had to do all in chronological order. And To keep Boba Fett “mysterous” I would make him say as little to nothing in the film, only speaking when absolutely nessasary. Here, I already have the first scene planned out: I imagine the location to be Tatooine before “A New Hope”. Boba Fett would walk in the Catina only to see that his target most likely saw his ship and ran away as the door to the other side of the Catina was wide open. Greedo approaches Fett knowing that he’s trying to get the big bucks and threatens him Boba Fett wipes out a blade from his wrist holder and practically scars Greedo. Boba goes outside to see his target who is (get this) CAD BANE! I would go into more detail but I feel like I’ve written too much
