Topic: Advice needed: Which is better - PS2 or XBox

The old man's birthday is fast approaching.  I want to get him something I know he'll enjoy (as opposed to some sucky, grown up gift.  We just got done buying two cars this year, that's enough adult stuff for me for the next decade)  I want to get him a good video game system.  Only I don't know squat about them.  I know the leads are PS2 and Xbox.  So, guys, you've never steered me wrong before:  which one is better?  Which one should I get for the very patient, very funny man I married? I'm assuming they have different games, so here's a list of what he's into and not: Likes: Sci Fi, Comics, GI Joe, Star Trek, Anamae, TV and movies, Shooting sports, Pro Wrestling, RPG'ing (old school - D&D, Savage Worlds).   Hates professional / organized sports.
So help a fellow Fett fan out:  which one should I get?

if was up to me i would say the ps2 it has all of the sme games as the xbox plus a beter wesling game. and i think its cheper.

We have a PS2 and love it, and so far we haven't had any trouble getting the games we want.  There's a very large selection out there.

In this case I'd say PS2, Xbox has few and far between when it comes to Anime. Although I'd be careful not to play too many Dvds on it, they have a tendency to malfunction and stop playing Video Games. Is it a drive processor glitch or something like that? I can't remember.

Wow, are you serious?  Because our PS2 is our primary DVD player, and the sound has suddenly gotten messed up whenever we play movies.

I'm a Nintendo fanboy (Darn you), but anywho, If I had to choose competition I'd say... PS2.

Dead serious, happen to quite a few of my friends, i believe it was also mentioned in a few articles or so.

Well, this is a good thing, because it might finally convince my parents to buy a real DVD player.

i see that most like PS2...the only thing is, PS3 is right around the corner...so i'd rather wait for that one.   But i am an Xbox fan...i advise XBOX but...i see i'm the only one, so don't listen to me...lol

Damn, and I've been using the PS2 to play DVD's since my dad disconnected the real one for the PS2. I really have to harass him to hook it back up again now.

I vote PS2 'cause theres more games for everyone on that one, and rather silly games on that one. But if he's a more serious guy, the XBox is for him.
