Obama Health care
good or bad
Well, first, it's not called that. It's called Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).
You can find out the basics here:
http://www.healthcare.gov/
http://www.whitehouse.gov/healthreform
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affordable_Care_Act
I think it's important for people to have more options with their healthcare (an improvement c/o PPACA), plus that everyone should be going to the doctor for preventative care (a real win-win for the country).
Just my two cents...

Its unconstitutional.

I believe that 30 Attorney Generals have filed suit against PPACA saying its unconstitutional, so I am not the only one in this boat.

There is an interactive map at the bottom of this artical but it is a little out of date.
Here is a list of the Top 10 states:
Florida
South Carolina
Nebraska
Texas
Michigan
Utah
Pennsylvania
Alabama
South Dakota
Virginia
It's fairly common for Presidents -- including Richard Nixon and George W. Bush -- to do this.
See http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=1665161 for an abstract that elaborates on "Signing Unconstitutional Laws."
"...there is nothing wrong with signing unconstitutional laws"
I was taught that the Constitution was the law of the land. If this holds true, then if something is unconstitutional it is breaking the law.
Judicial Review would and should over turn the health care bill.
Thats what needs to be done and it needs to be done the way John Marshall did it.
Thomas Jefferson has probably turned over in his grave about this.
I was taught that the Constitution was the law of the land.
To each their own. Are you a member of the Tea Party movement?
Here's one more resource to check out that's non-partisan:

No, the Tea Party has been taken over by Republicans. The Tea Party has rejected Democrats and blindly accepted the Republicans, both parties are not any good. I am against anything that is unconstitutional.
oh how weary I grow of seeing one user's misguided political and religious views all over a science fiction character fan forum...
heh, don't try and justify what you're doing, when you're doing is taking advantage of the forum to spread your nonsense
I do believe you are attacking me personally, sir. Attack the belief not the person.
You have your beliefs I have mine. Calling mine nonsense when you disagree isn't very productive in swaying my views or even discouraging me from continuing to spread my "nonsense".
And this bit of "nonsense" has the United States Constitution backing it.
I'm not attacking your beliefs, nor do i want to sway them. I just want you to stop bringing them up here. I'm asking you not with the BFFC tag here, but as a fellow member of this community, take the religion and political talk to a religious or politics forum and leave this forum for discussing Star Wars and science fiction. This is stupid that we're even having this conversation. I'm not telling you to censor yourself, or to leave, I'm just saying please take this discussion and your views to a medium and forum more appropriate. I have no idea why you thought this would be a good place for it.
As the overall moderator here, I'm not only well aware of this topic because I've been posting on it, but I think it's interesting to discuss constitutionality, especially regarding healthcare for everyone, in a country that's pretty unhealthy and obese.
Yes, this is the Boba Fett Fan Club. It's also the fans forum. And I like considering the site I've built over the years to be a welcoming, friendly place ... as much as can be, in fact.
Karson, you bring up a good point.
McCoy, so do you.
If anyone wants to continue, the topic of this thread is at the top of the page. I'm still working on my rebuttal for you, Karson.
;-)
Just because it's friendly doesn't mean that fans and long term members of the community seeking an escape from reality in their favorite form of escape (Star Wars) should be forced to subject themselves right back into the same bs we see everywhere else in the world.
Can we just go back to talking about crap that doesn't matter. I realize the importance of a lot of the brought up here, but this is supposed to be fun for crying out loud.
It's just one topic in one forum that isn't just about science fiction.
There's way more than one. I can see I'm going to just have to avoid the Fans section from now on. Damn shame.

Oh, come on, buddy. It's one headline right now.
I can't wait to see it, Sir.
You got it, Karson. Happy to know you're open to hearing another opinion.

My count is three. "Wiki Leaks" "Do you go to Church?" and "Obama Health care"
You got it, Karson. Happy to know you're open to hearing another opinion.
I am not as tunnel visioned as people think.
It seems that I might have won...
How is that? We didn't set a time limit. It takes free time to banter with you, Karson. ;-)
