I got hurt at work and now I have an abrasion in my right eye. It's sort of light sensitive and they put some eye drops in that made my pupil huge. Seeing is... interesting. I won't be driving anytime soon. And I shouldn't really be on the computer for long. I did bring the brightness of my screen down a lot so that should help.

I am mildly disappointed that I didn't get an eye patch. I could have put on my pirate costume and taken some awesome pictures. Oh, well. I'm just glad it's going to get better. I was super nauseous and threw up twice. (in the last ten years that would make about 3 times I've thrown up) And I had a bad headache. They prescribed me a pain killer. And I have some antibiotics.

What I was doing was throwing cardboard in our baler and I suppose something fell out of one of them or something. The doctor said it was probably either dust or a small piece of cardboard. Whatever it was he said it had come out but that it had scratched my eye. Skinned it, if you will, gouged it. Whichever word you want to use. And, yes, it's going under workmans comp. First time I've ever had to do that.

Life sucks

I do a lot of manual labor myself and I have severe eye allergies. When I was smaller I used to rub my eye(s) to the point that my membrane would swell up and be really messed up. This is probably why I have to wear glasses now.

A year ago I discovered orange tented shooting glasses were excellent at keeping out pollen and fesque. (that southern for grass particles that can really irritate your eyes) Sense then I have avoided any eye problems. So you might want to look for a pair of safety glasses, they work wonders

That sucks. That really, really, sucks. I hope your eye gets better soon! And cool of you to be dissapointed about not getting a eye patch. I'd probably be dissapointed too, lol!

Hey, if it makes you feel better, my mom once had a yucca leaf gouge her eye. And she recovered perfectly (which is amazing considering she refused to see a doctor).

Sorry about that Miba, I hope you get better soon. Sore eyes tend to give headaches. You'll have to be careful of not staying up too late playing games for a while, and get all the rest you need.
:)

Sorry about your eyes getting bad Karson, I hope they are better now, despite having to wear the glasses. Better that than to be blind.

Glad that your mom recovered well Cecilia

Cast iron and treadmills? Oh yes. Still sculpting me to what I really want to be, and I love it. :)

Oh, heck yeah, I much rather wear those glasses than have my eyes swell shut.

Karson, I'll have to remember that about the glasses! I don't usually have eye problems at work, but that is good to know for if I'm ever going to be somewhere I'd want to protect myself at.

Cecilia, glad your mom got better. I hate going to doctors, but I would hate losing my eye even more. This is the first time since I was, like, 12 that I've been to the emergency room for myself, that's just how much I hate it.

Terra, thanks, I haven't really been playing games or reading or anything. And minimal time on the computer. Reading is what really gets my dizziness going. Otherwise one eye being blurry and the other not doesn't really have a big affect, it just looks like a smudge on my glasses. But when reading I'm getting kinda dizzy.

The dilation has gone down a lot, and it's not red and squinty anymore. The antibiotics made me so tired yesterday. But I'm making a really fast recovery. Still achy and sore, still somewhat dilated, still blurry, but noticeably better.

Argh, I hate doctors as well. In my family, most of us hate them and hospitals. They make you feel so powerless, in that humiliating little pj-crap they force you to wear, it is unbearable.

Sorry I was just joking, I just wanna make sure you get the rest you need. I tend to neglect my sleep since forever myself and.. well.. it can send your mood in the 36th bottom, lol.

Have you tried making yourself an eyepatch with band-aid? It might help for the dizziness if your sore eye is completely at rest.

I am glad that it is starting to get better. Don't forget that you have to take your medication entirely, even if after half of it you feel right, else the virus will still be in you. You need the whole medication to really kill it.

Glad you're getting better, anyway. :)

Fett_II, I was thinking that same thing when I saw your picture. Here I am babying about my eye and you have that nasty wound on your head. I'm glad you're still alive!

The dizziness is completely gone now and the hardest thing is remembering to take the medicine and be careful of my eye! I started rubbing it yesterday in the shower to get some water off it and suddenly remembered which eye that was and had to make myself be gentle. And speaking of medicine I should have taken it at 7, I should go do that after this.
