i just want to know everyones opinion about the mando's going from the best warriors in the galaxy to a race of pacifists... honestly this is kills me a lot on the inside because 21 years of star wars fandom has bread mando's as warriors into my mentality... but like i said i just want to know what others think

Firmly, and utterly against it. Pacifists Mando'ade is crap.

I HATE it. It's total bs. Why do they want to change so much of the story? I have been brooding over this for weeks, and if I wasn't so tired this evening, I would rant for hours about this. :(

Boba as he was in the film is still canon. Since he's part of George Lucas' films, whatever he does, who he is, what his background is, is canon.

"canon"

a cannon is a gun =P

and not all mando's are pacifists
it's just a group of them

Jaster's "true mandalorians" still exist, they just got wiped out on galidraan, just like Jango wiped out the death watch later on, and now death watch is back. That said, true mandalorians take a while to come back into the picture, thanks to Boba Fett taking up his dad's legacy

Um yeah they're not changing the canon of the movies. I don't think that will ever change.

I'm more concerned with the canon in the Republic Commando series. I couldn't care less about the canon in the movies.

i apologize for my misunderstanding, the way that things were explained from everything i read that anything that connected to the mando's from the point on when in the cartoon they were stated to become peace lovers, was erased because it never would have happend

Actually, "canon" is a word.

can·on
1   /ˈkænən/ Show Spelled[kan-uhn] Show IPA
–noun
1.
an ecclesiastical rule or law enacted by a council or other competent authority and, in the Roman Catholic Church, approved by the pope.
2.
the body of ecclesiastical law.
3.
the body of rules, principles, or standards accepted as axiomatic and universally binding in a field of study or art: the neoclassical canon.
4.
a fundamental principle or general rule: the canons of good behavior.
5.
a standard; criterion: the canons of taste.

And I like Fett's story from Bounty Hunter Wars and Tales of the Bounty hunters best.

notice how he said a cannon is a gun.

lol thanks for that

I already edited the title of the thread, even though its premise is false hehe

The whole thing is BS.  George has ruined the RC stories.  He needs to go away already.  I will miss the real Mandos.

lets just hope that some true mando's show up in the cartoon and return them to what they should be, because i am fearful of what may become of our most beloved group.... based around a character with like 5 lines and 15minutes of air time :p

lol we've said a few times in this thread that all of the "true" mandos are basically wiped out during this time period, which is the only reason why the death watch is rebuilt and the pacifists rule Mandalore

young Boba Fett *should* make an appearance by the end of this season though, dunno about armor

"Those with the ability to lead, have the responsibility to do so."
March 10, 2010 9:38 pm #

well it shows the guards in something close to mando armor.... if the helmets are a little odd and unshapely. but i still hope we see more from the mandos than pacifists and the deathwatch if thats batter than saying ture mandos

Look at it this way, it's far better to watch the Death Watch get beat up by Jedi than our true Mandos lol

yes yes it is :P but id still like to see obi-wan kick one of the fan helmets in the face... just because those buckets are ugly as heck

Well  hopefully some one will see the mistake that the mandos have become and try to fix it.

Once again, Mandos have not become anything...
they're still all wiped out from Galidraan and then scattered from Jango's death.

Yeah I only just started reading RC and then I heard that a lot of the canon was changed so the books don't work or something which I hope is not true. Are the changes really that huge?

July 9, 2010 7:13 pm #

Keep reading them man, they are awesome.

July 10, 2010 3:07 am #

Hopefully McCoy or one of the more studied fans will see this and will be able to answer better then I can.  From my view, it seems that the cannon has been changed considerably IF the cartoons are taken seriously, as Lucas seems to be taking them.  Some say that it all can be ironed out and work together, but I'm not seeing it.  Too much of the Mandalorian cutlure, which the RC books focus and elaborate on, is getting rewritten in each of the new cartoons that focus on the Mandos.  Royalty, pacivism, Death Watch dominating the few militaristic Mandos that are left; all of this flys in the face of KT's and other's established works.  And I believe that Traviss will no longer be writing any more RC books because all her work has been trashed by this newer material.  If she thinks everything has changed to that degree, then that says a lot.

You might notice from some of the other threads that I'm not one of KT's biggest fans for supporters.  But these cartoons are a blight on everything the real Mandalorian fans love and support, and I cring at the thought that kid shows are now taking priority over serious written work in the Star Wars universe

I my opinion all the tv shows are a load of garbage George Lucas is just trying to make a quick buck

October 31, 2011 2:27 pm #

As far as I'm concerned, I will believe in the true Mandos. No cartoon is going to change my mind about them. I HATE that Lucas has chosen them to make a buck, mostly because those who have not read the RC books or the other KT books will not know how Mandos really are.
My point is that these characters can be whoever we want them to be. We don't have to subscribe to the new pacifist Mandos. They are passionate about two things: their families, and their wars :) Oya Manda!

I strongly dislike even the thought of what they did to the Mandalorian culture. They are warriors, not pacifists!

I have and always will reference back to the two original KotOR games when asked to define the true Mandalorian culture - They are the Star Wars equivalent of the Spartan culture from 300.  They live for glory gained in war.  It's as simple as that.  All these damn cartoons and prequels that blatantly trash that foundation I will continue to ignore

Agreed Ralin, I tend to ignore a lot of the new perspectives of Star Wars in a lot of things. It really ticked me off that a number of books written between the old and new trilogies were ruined (eg Jedi not marrying and having kids - the novel Children of the Jedi is sudden nil and void etc).

Plus the changes to Jaster Mereel - so damn confusing he was originally Boba Fett pre-bounty hunter days, then he's a totally separate Mando - grr! It may as well be random fan fiction.

KOTOR was the one thing that was awesome! :D

I agree so much! It's like random authors and creators have been given permission to write licensed fanfiction's branching off in whatever directions they please.  It's frustrating to say the least to anyone who's a true fan of certain bodies of work; rather it be original novel series that are destroyed by the prequels, videogame or comic canon that gets ignored by the kids cartoon. It's just completely out of hand.  To say that I can't reference back to an old game or an early novel series as my preferred canon because it "doesn't count anymore," I'll argue that everything new that is supposedly Canon now will just be replaced by something else in the  future.  If all of LucasArts can ignore their own material why can't I ignore those parts that destroy the stories that made me love Star Wars?
