I was in a group chat last night when I said I had to go because my Dad was in hospital. Turns out he had a seizure Wednesday night. He had a CT scan yesterday and they found he has a 4cm lesion on his brain - I only found out yesterday afternoon because Mum didn't want me to get upset until they knew what was going on.

Today Dad goes in for an MIR and then he'll be going for brain surgery. So if I'm not around you'll know why. I'm keeping my fingers crosssed that it all goes well...

Oh no, how scary for you all (hugs)

I have got my fingers crossed that everything goes funkily for him and that he makes a speedy recovery.

Yeah, I'm really sorry--I'll pray for him, if you don't mind.

Oh God...  Really tough break Mel

Our thoughts and prayers are with him and the family; here's to a successful surgery and speedy recovery

That is awful. I wish your father a speedy recovery and hope all goes well.

Thanks everyone, it's really appreciated.

Well gotta love the health care system. Dad was supposed to go in for his MIR on Friday but he didn't get a bed in the John Hunter hospital until 2pm and they couldn't transport him there until 7.30pm as it had been a rainy day and the ambulances were busy with accidents. By the time he got to the John Hunter it was too late for an MIR and they don't do them of a weekend.

So on Saturday we had to go pick him up because the only operating theatre able to do the surgery is booked until Wednesday week. Thankfully Dad is stable and to be honest and I think he's happier to be home. I'll let you know more as it comes.

Once again, thank you to everyone for the well wishes and prayers.

I'm relieved that he seems to be doing better at home. I hope that everything remains placid, and that the surgery goes smoothly when it happens. I'll continue to pray for him.

I'll pray, also, let God's will be done. I hope he can be home for Christmas....and I'll hope and pray the he's a Christian.

Dad had the surgery this arvo, he's in recovery now. Apparently he's awake, knows who he is and where he lives so that's a good start. I'll see him tomorrow since it's rather late. As you can imagine he's got a bit of a headache :P

He should get his full results from pathology within 5 days, he'll have some of them by tomorrow.

Thanks again for everyone's warm wishes.

Glad to hear he finally got the surgery, and very good sign that he seems alert and remembers everything!

Fingers crossed that he's back 100% soon   :)

J. Death, especially within the family happens when you least expect it. And being thirteen is one of the most important years of your life--you're maturing from childhood into adulthood, your beginning high school, and it is also when you realise how important those around you suddenly become. While I was in highschool, I lost friends, family members and teachers. You realise how fragile we are and how much we take for granted--all that you think is important changes when it matters between life and death. However, this is the time when you can grow and learn from these things. It is easy to allow negativity and depression set in, but in time you will become a much stronger individual. This is a hard step to climb, but know that there are those who understand and share the grief you feel. I know you are young, but read Seneca's Letters From a Stoic, or even C.S. Lewis' writings such as Mere Christianity, the Screwtape Letters, or The Great Divorce.

It was the denial of God, the denial of man, and the destruction of the world in miniature form.

don't say things like that...you tell us these things because you want to, and that you need to as well. There is nothing wrong with letting emotions out--especially in the culture we live in, we need to cry, laugh and share ourselves with others more.

I'm so sorry J. *hugs* It always hurts to loose a loved one. Dont fear to express what just happens to be part of life right now. I won't speak for everyone, just in case, but i don't mind if you vent to your hearts content. Let it out, and you might feel a little better.

I agree with Si. Sometimes it feels good to just say everything there is to say about it. I do that. I keep a notebook and whenever I feel really bad I write whatever I want, no matter how dark, how depressing, how poor the spelling and grammar. Just telling someone, anyone, even a notebook, about everything is something everyone needs to do. You might cry, and it might hurt, but once you're done you take a deep breath, and as you breath out imagine all the bad leaving on that breath. And then you realize you feel better, emptier of everything that was bringing you pain. I am sorry for you, about your sister. I know it's hard to be strong right now, but we're all here to help you. We'll support you and hold you up, and in time, you'll realize you're able to walk on your own again.

Reality doesn't care if you believe in it.

My Mom fell and hit her head and got a concussion, and I was the only one home. It was like 6 or 7 in the morning. That's why I havn't been on for so long. she's better now though. I know how you feel when you lose a sibling friend, I had a sister die several years ago, and a brother two years later. I never got to meet them either. It still makes me stop...

Some may run a short while, but none of them would bide.
