Topic: Geocaching

Are there any Geocachers on the boards? My fiancee and I enjoy Geocaching (for those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, check out the site: http://www.geocaching.com/ ) :D

No, I don't have a GPS...but I like orienteering.  So I suppose you could say, I let the geocachers do the work, then I go out and reap the benefits.  ;)

it sounds realy fun i will try some day but i dought there few who play in alaska

ya never know,   but whenever i think of alaska, i think cooooold. But maybe that's just me, it's probably real nice in the summer. By the way, What is this whole Geocaching thing anywayz....i'm lost b/c i've never heard of it....any help here?

Yeah, I could do that! I'll have to try it someday.

It's really fun, it's basically treasure hunting with a GPS. You log your find in the cache then on the internet. You can also place your own caches for other people to find. So Bobathekid, you could place some caches in Alaska to get the ball rolling if there's very few around. :D

Oh, I was thinking it was when people work together to get the entire world mapped on GPS.  Like the spelunkers that came to my house wanting to map our caves.  BUT treasure hunting sounds like a ton of fun.  I wonder if we have any groups around here?  It would certainly be a good reason to buy a GPS.

do you have to have a GPS to begin "treasure hunting"....i assume you do, and i don't.  But wow, it sounds like a ton of fun.
