Topic: Star Wars: The Clone Wars

yeah, that's on the Chase Through Coruscant track (don't remember exact title, but it's Track 3). You hear an electric guitar... TWICE. Star Wars clearly is not meant for that stuff, although when it was used it fit in just fine. and i forgot Warner Bros was doing it. Reviews said it was good, so I guess Fox just missed out on a couple more bucks.

Thanks Miba!  All the images and such that I've seen until this point really only made her look like she has two and that was bothering my geek mind.

I think John Williams should have been involved, since from what i've read this Kevin guy didn't do a superb job. Maybe they could have gotten Jeremy Soule who did the KotOR music, which I happen to think did a nice job blending themes and such into his new compositions.

Im a little peeved that I had made plans to see it tonight with my sister, but then today when I was at work she made plans to go baby sit. So now its go alone... or wait. I'm disappointed in her.

That's tough to have to go alone. :( I did that with ROTS a lot. It was fun anyway.

And, yeah, Soule would have been a better choice.

You are wrong. Read the Republic Commando series, and then you would see that the clones are just like normal men, except with accelerated aging and no rights. You say they never question their existence? It's a very big deal for them. Several ARC troopers ran away, like Alpha 02, because they didn't trust the Republic. RC Darman said that he thinks about his existence (what will happen after the war, etc) a lot, as much as he thinks about his GIRLFRIEND Etain. Which proves that they DO question their existence, and proves that they do "need women"

Darman's fellow squadmate Atin also has a girlfriend, and so does ARC Captain Ordo. Darman and Atin's other squadmate, Fi, wishes he had one. So clones do like women, as they are just like real men.

Back on topic, I hate Anakin's apprentice. She looks puny and weak, and if she faced a tough situation she would probably fall apart and start crying. I think she will ruin the series for me. At least they have one tough woman in it (Assaj Ventress) Also, Yoda looks stupid, and the SBD's look too different then the movie ones.

Overall, I don't think this movie will be very good.

I know how horribly fans on this board take spoilers so...

Without telling you too much, the Padawan they gave Anakin is perfect FOR Anakin; and nobody else could possibly have trained her correctly.  You'll see.

And as for the rest.. yeah, the graphics are ugly.  You actually get over it pretty quick.  It's a pretty good light movie, it's fun.  Expect no deep revelations.  Just expect Star Wars-themed fun.  If the series they make is anything like this, we'll see a resurgence of Star Wars fandom amongst children.  And you know what?  I hope they make a full TV series like this.  They don;t even have to change the graphics.

You know why?  Because children need a show to watch.  When I was a kid, we had GI Joe, Transformers, My Little Pony, Ghostbusters, Smurfs, Bravestarr, Silverhawks, Jem, GoBots.. and so on.  What do children have to watch today?  Spongebob?  That show is idiotic; it insults the intelligence of all ages.  Hannah Montana?  Please, they might as well call it "The Vacuous Bimbo Show".

I'd like to see Star Wars go ahead and step up and fill the void.  Perhaps if they don't screw this up, it can spearhead a resurgence of "fun" children's programming.  If the writing continues on the level that movie was... I think it might pull that off.  Give this movie a chance, go into it with an open mind.

I agree that Anakins padawan is is a perfect match for him. And trust me, she isn't as weak as she looks. I don't wanna give anything away but she carries her own just fine. Also I too had to go see it alone, my GF didn't wanna go see it with me. Funny story: A little kid there(about 6 or so) was dressed as Vader and this other kid goes thats dumb, Alex Skywalker doesn't even turn into Dark Vader in this one. And the kid dressed as Vader goes "I find your lack of faith disturbing". I almost died laughing.

I think I'll go see just to learn more about the various Jedi and clones. Sometimes I feel a little "out of the loop".

The wife and I got to see this, this afternoon.  Not too bad.  I thought the animation looked kind of forced.  Not very fluid when they're doing slow movements, like walking.  I thought the fact the Jet Troopers looked like the ones from the Battlefront game, with the same type of jetpack Jango used in the Geonosis arena.  The nose art on the Gunships was a very nice touch.  I found out that the translation of the guship with the blue Twi'lek in trooper armor on the front, means "Lucky Lekku."  Nice touch.  I never did see the gunship with the Kowokian Monkey on the side, that's on all the toys now.  I must have missed that one. 

Did anyone else notice the cameo of R2-KT (the pink astromech droid)?  I thought that was very considerate to put that in there. 

They finally showed some Commando Scouts (not to be confused with the Clone Commandos).  Very nice.  I believe these are the intelligence units that were trained by the Null ARC's, yes? 

The music was a little different, however, I kind of liked the "desert" type theme music, after they took control of the monastery.  Kind of had that "Blackhawk Down" feeling to it.  Like you know they're about to get jacked up.

Miba, I hear you about Ziro the Hutt talking in Basic.  That was just weird. 

Ventress was really cool.  Too bad they didn't have Durge in there.  Although, since when did Ventress have tattoos on the sides of her mouth?

And by far, my favorite line in the whole movie: 

REX: "Surrender, when we outnumber you?"

Droid: "Outnumber?  Wait a minute....1...2...3...4...5.....KA-BOOM!!!!!!!

i agree w/ the sloppiness of Ziro speaking basic, but u have to at least appreciate the leap of character they took w/ him, An effeminate southern gentleman sounding Hutt i thought it was funny- kept me off balance.
and i guess the jedi relax their dress code in war time, with Anikans apprentice wearing a tube top.

I am sooo glad Durge wasn't there! But, yeah, I agree with the tattoos on Ventress. I would also like to ask since when did she cut a hole in her dress? The one that's right above her chest. A bit less modest than her usual full turtle neck and long sleeves.

ZiviReywes.... I agree with the whole television thing. Kids today need something way better than "Hanna Montana". Its so mindless that Im sure it is killing their brain cells, never mind undoing years of woman's lib. The shows you listed were the shows I grew up on. LOVED THEM! They were fun stuff. Shows can be fun with out being mindless. I think that a show very much like the movie would be very nice and fun.

Sadriel.....I agree very much with what you say. Almost leaves me nothing new to post. Although I disagree with you on the animation. I didn't find it annoying at all, although i wish they spent more time/ attention to the environments, especially on Tatooine. I actually liked how it wasn't that super perfected style, as to me that takes out some of the fun.

Ventress was the hidden gem of the movie for me. I like the tweeking of her costume. To me a sith BEGS to sexy, and this helps that. I liked her before... now I REALLY like her. Its a shame she's not blonde. :P And I happen to think she had the best voice and animation on her facial expressions as well.

Now the apprentice ( I can never remember how to spell her dang name)n I wish I could just snipe her now. Yes she can hold her own isn't exactly weak, but she had the worse dialogue, and to me was WHINY. More so than even Luke was. "Skyguy" give me a break. I could rant about things I didn't like about her for some time. I stand by my earlier comments that she needs to die. Painfully if possible.

Overall, The Clone Wars wasn't all that bad. It could have been way worse, but it also could have been better. Some parts were completely unnecessary. Zero... Padame...needless. Some plot points were wrong though. Jedi are CHOSEN to be padawans BEFORE their 13th birthday.  Action was nice, although they made the Jedi too god like to me. (This coming from a big Jedi fan.) I liked having Ploo Koon, Kit Fisto and Luminara involved. Yes it sounds like I am complaining a lot, but I did like it. The huttling was less annoying than I thought. It was fun and fluffy. I like how there is a lot of action. If only Ashoka (w/e) didn't talk so much.......

Maybe I'll see it on DVD, but I doubt in theaters. Besides business, movies are REALLY expensive, my family wouldn't be interested, and and can't drive myself yet. If there were commando's though.....I'd totally be there.

I have a feeling that the DVD will be out sooner than later. And Im sure you can find it online somewhere too, if you REALLY feel like watching it. Personally, although Im old :P I made my sister drive and pay for me. ( Hey she owes me money for this month phone bill!)

Ugh! Indeed. If anyone wonders why some call "the death of SW" that might just be a nail in the coffin.

Well, I saw it last Friday, expecting a darker, more serious and epic film, similar to the old cartoons. What I got was a lighthearted Saturday morning cartoon with unoriginal one-liners sprinkled throughout a little too often. The droids were the epitome of incompetence and idiocy (droids would never forget coordinates spoken to them 1 second ago, they are machines), while the villains waited just long enough to strike for the heroes' friends to arrive. It was cute, cliche, and the storyline was unnecessary to the canon. "The Republic must gain the criminal underworld's permission to access outer rim trading routes!". No. The Republic should be eliminating the underworld, not helping it and asking their permission. Pointless. As soon as I heard the word "Bounty hunters", I did not get up to refill my drink as planned, because I did not want to miss any Boba Fett scenes. None came. And I was thirsty. All in all, if you are over 12 and if you care about sticking to any shreds of realism Star Wars has left (You would never see Anakin sneaking past an entire droid army by hiding in a box in the real movies), don't watch this. Otherwise, it is a great kid's movie. (Don't even get me started on Zero the Hutt or whatever it's name is)

Why would you think for a second there might be any?  Boba was what.. 10?  12?  I don't think Jabba would send a 12 year old on a mission as important as rescuing his own son.

And what cartoon are you talking about?  The Ewok and Droid cartoons were absolute fluff, and the Cartoon Network Clone Wars claptrap wasn't "dark" either.  Not to mention the droids were just as stupid in it.

Well, considering how some of the SW movies span a couple of years, Fett might be 13 or 14, and it would be more realistic then a droid general stopping to have tea with a Jedi. And while the Clone Wars cartoons (what I was referring to) might not have been dark, it was more like the movies, not meant to be a joke. They were fairly serious from what I remember, and the ARCs were awesome, and the villains were great like Grevious and Durge. I was hoping Grevious would make an appearance too, but no.

Boba was 10 in AOTC, he turned 11 a month later. By ROTS he was 13. He started working for Jabba when he was 11 too, actually. So we can assume Boba was about 12 in the CW movie.

And the old CW weren't very much like the movies at all. It had Mace being waaay too God-like. It had Durge, who is ridiculous. And Sha'a Gi? *cringe* That was just stupid. Yes, Grevious was great, and they were somewhat serious. But who didn't die of laughter during the Mace episodes? Or how about the Durge scenes, I'd  be laughing during those too if it weren't for the fact that I'm almost too embarrassed for SW to even watch the Durge scenes.

the Grievous scene on Hypori was what they call "over-powered." Grievous could never spin his torso super fast in order to fight multiple jedi.

We will be waiting for it to come out on DVD :D

Not only is it very pricey it is also challenging for us to get babysitter (the last time Devil boy and I went to the cinema together was when we went to see the last of the Lord of the rings films, in fact that was the last time that we went out together in the evening :( )

On the comment about Ventress' tattoo on the side of her head: Shes adds a new part of the same tattoo for every jedi she kills.

Yeah, Durge was way different in the cartoon than he is in the regular Star Wars: Republic comic books.  He was actually pretty lethal in those.  He wasn't really very fleshed out well in the Young Boba Fett novels, either.  Too bad.  Kind of how the ARC's in the comics and novels are much more how you'd expect them to actually be.  Not that they didn't rock in the Clone Wars cartoon.  Especially the fight with Grievous.  Anyway, the cartoon fight scenes with Durge reminded me that the guy who did the animation also did Samurai Jack, because that's exactly what I thought of when I saw Durge fighting.  Like a fight scene from Samurai Jack.  Kind of over the top, you know? 

I did like some of the combat scenes with the Clones, though.  Especially with the ones that seemed they had nothing to lose, so they went down fighting anyway.  Kind of sad, but something I'd expect from the clones of Jango Fett.  Sort of a "Better to die on your feet, than live on your knees" kind of thing.

And, yes, I loved the Clone fight scenes. Especially the ones where the clones started fighting with their hands instead of blasters, like the part where Rex was like, "Here, let me show you." Reminds me of something my husband would do.

Oh, but that's another thing. The part where Padme's captured and her comm goes off and the droids are like, "What's that?" So the droids couldn't even recognize a standard comm?

The one aspect I enjoyed about this film, (other than the awesome Clone battle scenes) was the soundtrack. In fact I bought it today and I'm listening to it now.
Sure, John Williams is AMAZING and irreplaceable, but I think his sweeping orchestral pieces would have felt out of place in this animated adventure. The best way I can describe it is "more badass" than typical SW music, the guitar riffs, heavy drums, etc. all correspond well with the fight sequences.

Yes we did :D I had forgotten about that. In that case. Revenge of the Sith was the last film that Devil boy and I saw together. Still too long ago. We really have to do something about that. I just have to hope that Devil Boys brother will help out at some point (his parents will not :( )

The least they could have done about the music was keep the original opening scroll song and the end credits song!!!! That annoyed me more than just about anything else.

Hm... you know I even liked the new opening scroll music with the drum beats... though I WAS annoying how there was that AWFUL 80's voice over and not scrolling text. -_-

Hmm, if I'm  not wrong this is also the start of a new show to air on Cartoon Network just like the 2D Clone Wars cartoon? Sorry, I've been outta the SW loop for a bit... when will this new show air and how long will the episodes be, anyone know?

they're already writing the third season. Season 1 is completely developed, they're finishing animating Season 2, and writing Season 3 as we speak.

I've found the movie is much better the second time round. We went to see it again today and I loved it. :) I didn't even mind the music!

I have a question though: Why are there so many Nikto around Jabba's palace? Just curious.

And why couldn't they have used real Huttese? There's a few words, sure, and maybe two or three sentences that are real. But otherwise it was all gibberish. Either that or I'm not as good with Huttese as I'd thought.

That brings up another thing... can Hutts (aka Ziro) even speak basic? God he was an awful character. I thought his design was rather neat... but why that voice?

I don't think Hutts can speak Basic. I think they're physically incapable of it. I think, I don' t remember for certain. But I am very sure.

What? I saw commercials for it and it looked idiotic. If it doesn't have boba, it sucks.
