Chapter 1

The artillery knocked English Sargent Edgar Porter off his ledge, and down into the trench along with the sand bags he was setting up for the unit's sniper. He covered up his head as soon as he hit the bottom of the trench, which was not but two foot from the ledge he was standing on. As soon as the artillery stopped a voice yelled out, "Gas!"
Edgar scrambled to get his gas mask out of his pocket. He fumble with the straps, and finally after what  seemed like forever he felt the gas masks fresh air hit his face.
"I was almost too late," thought Edgar.
                     *    *    *

The gas cleared from the air. Now it was time to look for the dead. Edgar stood up and pulled the gas mask off his face, and stuffed it back into his pocket.he walked through the, thin, dirt walled passage, and turned a corner. The trench instantly got two feet deeper. The passage had what looked to be small indentions wall but where really living spaces for the men to sleep in. They were about three foot in the wall of the trench.

Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof.

Its pretty cool. Kinda reminds me of Point du Hawke (SP) but with earthworks instead of concrete

{I would like to go down there too.}
None where found,thankfully., the alert was sounded just in time. Edgar looked up. "The rain is coming to night,"thought Edgar.{there is more but there is a WW2 program. Battle Ground: the Art of War Battle of the Budge

"Sir,sir"yelled a privet, "the Com--" He tripped. "The commanding officer wants to see you," said the privet .
"Its, going to rain," Said Edgar as he pointed at the sky. The privet looked up, then stared at Edgar, then back at the sky.
"I'll go see the CO, you go and rest,"said Edgar.
"Yes sir,"said the Privet.
Edgar walked down the trench. The winding whole in the dirt, seemed to go on forever, then the Wooden building with the roof just 3 foot off the surface of the ground.
Edgar walked up to the door and knocked on the door.
The knob turned, and the door opened to revile a tall, dark haired, pale, man.
"Captain," said Edgar as he walked into the field house.
"Edgar, come it, come it, sit down, good day isn't it," said The Captain.

{Shoot yeah!}

"Its going to rain,"said Edgar. "Hmmm...," said the C.0.
"That means mud and lots of it," replied Edgar.  "Okay, I am sure you want to know why I called you here," Said the Captian.
"Yes, sir," replied the sargent. "Well, it seems that you have impressed the chaps at the Regiment HQ, so they are premoting you to a Master Sargent," said the officer.
"Thank you sir," said Edgar. just then a medic busted in the door, panting, he asked "Sir, you wanted to see me?"
"Ah Privet Porter, I am reasigning you to sargent Edgar's squad," said the Captain. Porter nodded, brought his hand up to his for head and droped it. "Yes, Sir, thank you, sir," and with that he left.
"Now, Master Sargent, go and check up on you men," said the  Captain.

The privet had stayed out by the feild house to talk to Edgar.
"Sir, I am Privet Porter, and I am honored to be in yor squad,"said the Privet.
"Sir could you give me the names of the squad memebers?"asked Porter.
"No, and calm down. You will be fine," said Edgar
The two brish soldiers started down the entrenchment. The privet fell, as Edgar knew that he would, from the two foot drop
from the plain trench to the small section of the trench that was for the simi-caves.
Thunder rang out throught the air. The privet hit the ground like a boulder. Edgar shook his head.
"Chap, your too jumpy, just relax,"said the Sargent.
