Hey Everyone...
I'm a big Republic Commando PC game fan and thought it would be nice to have a thread to discuss stuff about the game. Also I'd like to know who all on this forum plays multiplayer in the hopes that maybe we could either start a clan or just team up and play some.
---------------------------------
Post on topics such as:

What is you favorite weapon in the game? (the one you like to use most)
What is your least favorite weapon?
Who's your favorite character in the game?
Do you think Sev really died?
What was the hardest hostile to defeat?
anything else about the game...etc. etc.

What name do you go by? (Multiplayer)
Favorite Map?  (Multiplayer)
Favorite game type? (Multiplayer)
Favorite custom armor type? (Multiplayer)
etc. etc. etc. etc.
---------------------------------
To start us off, I'd like to express how ANNOYING AA (anti-armor) users are. Noobing has run rampant on some maps and it kills the fun of the game.

My Favorite Weapon = DC 17 Sniper Attachment      ---nothing like a good head shot! hehehe

Republic commando is a good game but the weapons are ridiculous.
I am now talking about the power of the weapons.
The republic elite should have better rifles, don't you agree?

My favourite weapon is the Geonosian (Surprise..) Elite Beam Rifle or whatever is it called

I'm sure the republic elite's weapons ARE more effective. They just had to make them less so because its a game. Just like a Halo and other games of the sort, Republic Commando made the weapons weaker than real life. If you're looking for realistic...try a Tom Clancy game or something. BUT...if you're saying you just don't think they operate very well, I'd have to disagree. I thought it was a brilliant idea to have the one gun/ many attachments thing. Anyone?

Elite Beam weapon eh? I would've never guessed.... interesting.

Most amazing game ever, only played it on PC (played it on Xbox at my friends house, but it was really hard for me to get used to the controls)  The game is extremely fun, seeing as how I love shooting games.  Have to say that the sniper is the best, although I like to get extremely close sometimes, and the wrist blades are pretty fun to use :P  don't think Sev is dead, I'm just hoping that there will be another game that you can save him in. Hardest hostile would have to be near the end with the spider droids or the super battle droids, they can get pretty tuff at times.  Least favorite weapon would be the flash grenades, as I always managed to be in the way when they went off :P

Think thats it for now, I'll have to check out the multiplayer soon

The spider droids did seem to be difficult to kill throughout the game. Especially that time when it was just you and Scorch.

In my opinion I think Sev could've survived the invasion force and fought his way out of it. In the game, if you get out your sniper rifle and look to the left after getting off of the turret, you can see Sev still in his turret spinning in circles. lol.

COULD SEV HAVE SURVIVED?    i think yes...

I am in firm belief that Sev is alive.  Hopefully KT will have him survive in the next RC book.  If not she'll have some kaden fans after her I'll tell you.  But I see where you are coming from when you hate noobs with the AA attachment.  In CoD4 we got many people with the "noob tube" aka M203 rocket launcher prancing around.  It annoys.

I am in the same boat as AA. I've only ever played it on Xbox, and sadly never online due to setup constraints. On the xbox there are two little cheat codes that make the spider droids much easier to kill, and if you have a hard time goting throuhg some sections. *I don't play with cheats for the whole game, because thats no fun nad just unfair. There is one part that I played for a day and a half trying to get through, and my BF tried to get through and we just couldn't do it. I love the sniper rifle. Its more powerful than the sniper in the Battlefronts and actually can give truth to "one shot one kill". There are some sections where i chose to take a long time finishing just so i could snipe the trandos.

I Know!! I read the books first, and had the impression the Deece was a bit more powerful. but i love all the attachments. love the anti armor attachment, just fun. the spider droids and Trando elites were the worst. almost impossible to take down the trandos.

Sev is alive. he has to be. not sure, but how many years into the clone wars was Kashyyk? cus the first book was months in, Triple zero was 1 year in, and True colors was 3 something. maybe in Order 66 we'll find out, but i hope he lives. and no one plays online. maybe all xbox owners on here should organize a game? lol :)

side note: the gauntlet vibroblade was awesome. And the SBD's were WAY too tough. and when there were little production factories for them....it got bad.

Its a game. Things have to be toughened up, or people will complain about how friggen easy it would be. I personally loved how the SBD's were like the heavy troops, in the movies they didn't seem to be all that different from the B-1s. Trandoshan Elites were good, hard to kill alone, but good :D

Yeah, I only played it for xbox, but it is one of my favorite games. I think Sev is still alive too. He would be my favorite character, but I like all the other Delta guys pretty much the same. It gives a whole new look into the world of clones. I think they should make a xbox 360 sequel. And, if there is to be a battlefront 3, it should have commandos as units. With melee. I love the vibroblade!!! I hated when the SBDs came out of those infinite factories too.

If you can take my word for it I beat that hanger part with out the AT-TE on hard. Ive also beat the entire game with a pistol and grenades, and ive almost beat it with out my squad on hard.

And in single player my favourite weapon is the wookie bowcaster (I love pinning SBDs and Destroyer droids to the wall with that gun...)

Sadly I only play RC on the Xbox Live.

My favourite squad member would be Fixer. Mainly because he didnt get captured during the RAS levels.

I really dont know if Sev died or not...but alot of peaple think he died beause he lost comm signals, and they explain that by saying he lost his helmet to an energy blast and his head along with it. But did they ever think of a jammming devise? Noooo...

In single player i HATE the trando SMG because it sucks against droids.

All the hostiles are pretty easy...but if you turn on your squad the wookies will come after you, and they are dang hard to kill, so i say them.

If anyone should be feeling dumb about that level...I should be. I beat the whole game and even when I went back later I forgot about the AT-TE until the third try...lol.

I've never used any of the cheats myself... I never found that I needed them. And yes I do that too, I'll take my time and go through a whole level with the sniper attachment just cause I like to use it that much.

Did anyone find the level where you're by yourself hard?  What was you guys favorite level?  Also, ANYBODY OUT THERE that plays RC on PC?

I played it on PC, now that you guys mentioned it, maybe I could play it again some weekend.

My favorite weapons are all the Trandoshan weapons, I swapped between them when I played the missions, and I looked for them when I played online. The Trandoshan repeater gun is so fun, much better than the Commando rifles. The shotgun was really fun too, I used it in the missions, but online I kind of prefer the sniper rifle or the repeater gun.
In the campaign missions, I mostly used the pistol sidearm, though.

My favorite character is hard to pick, Scorch and Sev had some fun conversations. They really developed the characters well in this game.

I can't remember what enemy was hardest to kill, probably the Trandoshan Elites... But the best enemies are the Trandoshan mercenaries, you know what happens when you shoot their backpack or whatever it was?

I have no idea if Sev is alive or not, I don't think it looks like he is alive, but nothing can stop Karen from making me think otherwise if she wants to.

I think the Campaign where you are sent to the Republic ship is very well made. It was fun playing it, I never suspected that there would be Trandoshans, I thought the clones were fighting droids back there. And by the way, saving as many clones as you can was fun.

And I can't remember my online name or my favorite map...

I once wanted to see what would happen if you attacked and killed your squadmates. First they just make angry or surprised comments, but soon they cut contact with you, Niner becomes the boss (I think) and they start shooting you. I don't know what happens if you kill all of them and do the mission alone, though. I loaded an earlier save.

Werda Verd, you should like it, it is supposed to be like that. You are supposed to be confused and think "what happened here?" throughout the beginning of the level. I liked it because of that feeling you get when you lose contact with your squadmates and have to continue alone. Even better, you get to meet other clones every now and then, and you even get to try and save most of them.

By the way, I just checked and my nickname in the game is: The Cloner

Who got surprised?

I don't think its possible to kill them all then finish the mission alone. When you get the the arrows (the end of a level), if you don't have all of your squad members alive, it won't let you pass and finish the level. I also don't think its possible to kill all of your squad mates before they kill you... unless you were some uber-commando...lol

Yeah, I hate the noob tube, too.  But it's always a great equalizer.  Especially when you're playing a clan that does nothing but camp.  That's the quickest way to root them all out.  Camping may be a legitimate strategy, but it's really lame.  No skill required.  Know what I mean?

I personally like the basic Deece.  I love that high rate of fire you can put on a target.  Doesn't take as long to take the droids out if you shoot them in the head, either.  Except for the Super Battle Droids.  It's not very effective against them.  Best to hit them with a ion grenade first and let them have it while they're stunned.  Rinse, and repeat.   ;)   Although, that Wookiee rocket launcher sure got the job done.

I like the way the game lets you control the squad a lot easier.  It always reminded me like a cross between Dark Forces and Rainbow Six (because you get a 4-man squad).  I never cared much for how Rainbow Six lets you control your squad mates.  It's similar, but just seems more fluid on Republic Commando.  Now, if they had a voice command recognition for your squad mates, like they did for Rainbow Six, that would have been really sweet.  The actual gameplay reminded me alot of Brothers in Arms--great actual gameplay, but the online multiplayer was weak.  Either because not enough people played it in multiplayer or what, but the multiplayer aspect of it just wasn't up to par, I think.  Maybe better maps?

Yeah, you do move a lot faster when you're doing multiplayer.  I noticed when you switch to your pistol you really can truck a lot faster than with your rifle, but when you switch back to you rifle you slow down pretty quick.  That helped crossing distances pretty quick, if you spawn on the other side of the map or something.  But if you run into an enemy while you're running back, you're pretty much hosed becasue they outgun you, before you can switch back.

Moving fast is the name of the game on multiplayer. A person can't kill you before you change weapons...unless you happen to turn a corner and they have a shotgun to your head. Especially if you have a scroll button on your mouse...changing weapons is cake. Multiplayer can be annoying the first couple of times you play it, but once you get the hang of it and get sorta good at it...it rocks! There are plenty of people playing it...there's maps with 30-40 people in them, which is plenty for the maps provided. By the way, private message me if you want to get a multiplayer game together... TheCloner already buzzed me and we're planning on getting a game together sometime soon... Teaming up and playing multiplayer with other Fett fans will rock if we can get it together!

He lacks a sense of humor... I don't remember him laughing much with the other commandos in the game. He seems to me somewhat of a "goody goody" and stricto ratter...if ya catch my drift. He follows everything by the manual and any creative or inventive methods he's quick to scoff at 'em. He reminds me of one of those people who needs to loosen up and take a chill pill... the friend that when he's around, everything gets quiet and things aren't as fun anymore. Anyone agree with me? (btw, we are talking about Fixer)

Yeah, but I like him a lot when he killed that droid when you first see him (he was grappling with one of them right? or was that just Sev?)

I think both of them did something like that.

Nothing's wrong with Fixer, he's a pure and uncomplicated soldier, he's the second-in-command of your squad and he aims better than Scorch!

I hope Sev didn't die, he aims even better than Fixer.

Yes, I think thats why he's my least favorite of the squad. He's "pure and uncomplicated"... One big thing about the others is that they have their own little quirk. I absolutely love Sevs attitude...that dull humor that cracks jokes his killing spree. Scorch is the goofball that loves to see the fireworks and blow it all to oblivion. Boss brings a little bit of each of these in a combo that brings the squad together. And Fixer.... he's just there... I find it hard to describe him or to relate to him. Maybe thats why I view him like I do...

But Fixer still is the second-in-command and he still aims better than Scorch. And the campaign would be boring if Fixer wasn't there. Of course the campaign would also be boring if Scorch or Sev wasn't there. It's the whole squad that makes the campaign fun, really.

And another reason why Fixer should be noticed is that in the Republic ghost ship mission, Sev and Scorch didn't make it, while Fixer actually saved you. Well, at least he saved me...

Well of course parts of certain levels you need your teammates, but then you just go back and revive them.

And its not that hard to kill you team mates: Just snipe em in the head or use the vibro-blade.

Fixer is the only one (besides Boss) that doesnt get jumped on by a trando, or get screwed by a scav droid during the RAS mission, which in my mind makes him slightly better then the rest becasue he can rely on himself. The other commandos have a tough time staying alive when seperated.

And another reason I like Fixer is because if he wasnt the way he is, and instead like Scorch or Sev the whole sqaud would be goofing around and thered by noone to say "cut the chatter". In other words he balances the squad out. (And not to mention when he was strangling that Geo during the first part of the game, he seemed pretty cool)

((And sorry for double posting))

Sev got ambushed by a trandoshan, if you don't remember, and you lost contact with Scorch and Fixer and later found out that Scorch got captured after finishing his mission.
Fixer saved you.
You know the part when you are alone and a droid dispenser shows up in your way. That is when Fixer comes, if I remember correctly, he sliced through a door and came to help you. And for me, I was in a really bad situation there when Fixer showed up. With Fixer's help I took care of the droid dispenser and managed to survive and move on. In other words: Fixer saved me.

In that level, Fixer and Boss were the only ones who completed their missions without getting killed or captured.

In the game, the only thing I remember from Fixer being the second-in-command was that when I tried betraying the squad, Fixer was the one who started shouting "Shoot him!" and acted like he was the boss.
In the books, I am absolutely sure I read about Fixer being Delta Squad's second-in-command. Vau probably said it.

Mandal_ShadowWarrior said almost everything I like about Fixer. His close quarter combat moves (with his vibroblade) are really cool. And otherwise, he's there to help out Boss. And, I'm not sure, but wasn't Fixer the one who got excited about the AT-TE in the Republic assault ship mission?
