Topic: "Policing" the boards

I just posted on the welcome topic and I said "I don't know anyone who hasn't been caled on somthing by draco" so I thought lets test that.
so if you've never been called post here and I'll give one point to the members, but if you have been called post and I'll give one point to Draco.
This could get fun if you go along with it and post if you get called.
I've been called on at LEAST 3 different things. But I don't think that Aaron has ever (or can ever) be called. So...

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "I don't know anyone who hasn't been caled on somthing by draco." I don't think that I've insulted anyone, if that's what you mean. If you mean that I've tried to explain what spam is to try to prevent it, I've definently have done that. I apologize if I've done it too much. There have been plenty of members who I have not "called on."

What if I was "called on?" I think I was four times on the old boards, and four times here. So:

Draco: 3
Members: 9

He means he is giving you a point if you have ever called somebody out of either a mistake they made, or spam, or anything else they did wrong. While I would say you do get a little over the top with the spam busting sometimes, on a site like this, I think we need it.

As for myself, I really can't think of too much Draco has called me out on... but i'm not 100% sure, maybe I'll go check.

I have been a good girl and I have not made any mistakes so far. So I have not had a reason to have anything pointed out by Draco yet.

i think my first post and many that have followed have had the hammer dropped on them by
draco, i remember thinking who is this "little...", i believe i responded to his first correct by saying "who
r u the board nazi?" or som10 to that effect.
but over my time on this site i realize where he is coming from and that there is no malicious
context in his corrections, and i find his by the book demeanor to be the source of much levity around here.

im pretty sure i've been good, but i should have a few points because i've called on ppl for spam/spelling.

I think I double posted in Vassili Fett's Fanfic once when I first registered...And, not long after that, there came draco.

I don't think I've been here long enough to have been called on. I don't think that it is so bad to try and have some class on the message board. Spam and laziness is rude and annoying most of the time. I enjoy not having to decipher what everyone else is posting.

I think is rather much a waste of effort, if you have a problem with a member. Report it, or deal with the situation in a reasonable manner. Don't assume the mods are always going to be there and that we're going to catch everything as many members as this site has.

Just a couple last things, since I'm mentioned in Alo's opening post:

1. Contact
Anyone, always, is free to contact me by e-mail if they have questions, comments, concerns or ideas. If anyone has an idea for how to make that clearer here, design or otherwise, let me know.

2. We have rules here
I ask the moderators to help enforce them. "We monitor messages for content after they are posted." (Rules, 3B) So, depending on your idea of "policing," let it be clear that we're reactive and defensive. Draco isn't a mod.

3. Think first, type second, report third
As Maltese, a BFFC moderator notes, "please use the "Report" link beside any offending post and/or contact one of us if you feel that a posted message is objectionable."  (Rules, 3C) This is the best way to call attention to something you find objectionable, even moreso than handling it yourself. But, handle it as you would; it behooves you to use your best sense of civil communication before "reporting" or "calling out" for a mod to intervene. We handle warnings and temporary bannings privately. Other boards make a big deal out of it. We don't.

4. Double-posts are annoying
But it's part of the learning curve. Being "called out" isn't a public flogging; it's learning the ropes. All communities -- online and off -- work this way. If any member, Draco or otherwise, feels obliged to do this, you are welcome to do this.

I'm also opening the topic in case anyone would like to add something. :)

I really don't think that this topic was for any sort of bashing, more of a... term of endearment to call Draco the "police" due to his extensive work of helping keep spam to a minimum.

Keep up the good work, both Mods and Draco. =P

ok ok ok. This was a GAME. NOT a complaint I love Draco and his Draconess, and how he keeps the bords in shape. I'm very very sorry if you all thought that I was mad at Draco.

if you want pls change the topic name to "The Draco game" or "Has Draco got you?" or something that dosn't seem like I'm mad or anything like that.

I understood that it was a game. Haha and Draco has busted my chops a few times. But we all love him....another point to Draco!!!  :)

I'm not sure if you ment to, but you made a very clever pun. There used to be a Sumerian lawmaker named Draco who was very strict. That isn't where I got my name from, though.

I'm not goint to lie, I'm a bit impressed with Draco's efforts and for knowing and/or looking up what I consider obscure Sumerian references.

If you mean deleted, Draco doesn't have the access to do that. Only the Moderators do. Sometimes Draco finds things before we do. Then we clean them up if they are spam. It's not Draco's doing.

Im not blaming him for anything. I dont know where you got that from. By destroyed i just meant he caught something wrong that i said or something i said that had been said before, i dont remember. I was just adding to the score. Nothing of mine has been deleted.

I'm not sure if this is off topic or not here, but since we are talking Draco, and BFFC Mel mentioned it, what exactly is a rabbitt chewtoy? I have a rabbitt, but I know i'm not her chewtoy by anymeans, nor have I see her actually do much of anything that might indicate that she wants one either.

You see, Draco's pet rabbit has carnivorous tendencies. Draco tends to be the meat. Hence "chew toy".

Yes, the Holy Grail rabbit is an odd coincedence. I found a tin poster of it decapitating a knight. I plan to hang it over my three-level rabbit cage.
