Hey there, I was just wondering if anyone else here on Bobafett.com has a passion/obsession for musicals... And please, if you're not a fan of musical, don't waste your time spamming about how 'gay' they are. Thank you. Sorry, it's just that many people who haven't seen/heard musicals tend to have a stereotypical opinion on them for no reason other than the fact that they are ignorant. ;)
Anyways, I guess I'll start off with some of my favorite musicals...
My number one favorite of all time is Phantom of the Opera. Now, how can you like musicals and NOT love PotO? It's amazing, ever since a sang it for a Christmas concert in 7th grade I've been in love with the music. It wasn't until I saw the 2004 movie that I became a true fan... even though now I would never listen to Gerard Butler and I am very faithful to the Original Cast recording with Michael Crawford as the Phantom <3. Hm, no, I've never seen this (or any other musical) on broadway, but my mom promised she's take me before I go to college! I can't wait. (She got me the Carlton Ornament for Christmas!)
Okay, I also love the Rocky Horror Show. I saw a live preformance this year with my best friend around Halloween, and I hadn't even seen the movie yet! It was quite an experience, let me tell you. But, yes, I've seen the movie now, very cool.
This one is rather obscure here in the US. It's a German musical written by Jim Steinman, who wrote "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and Meat Loaf's songs. It's just amazing. I got the CD for Christmas and can't stop listening. I want to sing along but I know NOTHING of the German language! XD Steve Barton (RIP :( was also Raoul in PotO) was the lead as Graf von Krolock and I'm just stunned by how well he can sing in both German and English!

Well, I hope ATLEAST one other person on here likes Musical and shares there favorites... I spent like 10 mins typing this up, lol. :D

I'm not overly fond of musicals in general. I'll watch them, but given a choice I choose non-musicals. Anyway, I like POTO though! I've never seen anything other than the newer movie though.

I think the only cool musical is happy feet.

Don't drink at gay parties.

Hey! People responded! Miba, I can agree. I'm not one for watching musicals all the time, I just prefer to listen to them. I've listened to musicals I've never even seen just 'cause the music is awesome.

Ugh... Happy Feet?? O_O PLease tell me you're joking. I've never seen it, but you're going to tell me singing penguins (birds that can't even fly!) are superior in sound to the melodious tunes of broadway? lol.
Well, you're opinion, but maybe you should check out Phantom on limewire or youtube or something... you might be surprised! :)

I've only listened to the music for Phantom of the Opera (It's the original with Crawford) but I like it. A friend showed me The Rocky Horror Picture Show for the first time and I wasn't sure what to expect but I ended up loving it.

My favorite Broadway stuff would have to be: Les Miserables, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Wicked, Hairspray, Guys and Dolls, Phantom of the Opera, Chicago, Spamalot, and The Producers.

Off-broadway I love all the old-school Disney movies (Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast etc.) and I kill for High School Musical even though a lot of you will hate me for it. There was also this one Buffy episode called Once More With Feeling that Joss Whedon wrote the score for. To and vamp slayer fans out there: the music really rocks!

Random Fact: Zac Efron who played Troy (although Andrew Seeley sang the part) in High School Musical is going to play Link in Hairspray.

Basically I love musicals and showtunes are the only things I listen to. And I agree with what Manji_Ninja says about the sterotypical opinion most people have of them.

I like the Phantom to, I did see the original with Lon Chaney first though. (not in theaters I am not that old.)

Growing up I hated musicals, as I would always get frustrated when people would interrupt a perfectly good story line to sing. LOL! As a more mellow adult I can say now that I've come to like... some of them. I enjoy the ones with a darker edge--"Cabaret" and "Chicago" are my favorites. I also like "The Producers".

they're running Phantom of the Opera here in Osaka in may.  I really want to go!!  I've only seen a few musicals, and they closed the theater in Toronto the year my parents were planning on taking me, so I never got to see that one live.

I liked Cats too.  That's a fun one, but again, never saw it live.  Sucked being a high school student, and then flat broke in college, hehe.

I like Grease, Phantom of the Opera, Music Man, Wicked, the Lion King, Beauty & the Beast, and Guys & Dolls. My high school performed Beauty & the Beast  two years ago, Wizard of Oz last year, and this year we're doing Guys & Dolls this year. I'm in the chorus, didn't get a speaking part.

I love Phantom as well (but unfortunately have only seen the new movie).  My all time favorite will always be The King and I with Yul Brynner.

I like the Lion King! And Land Before Time...

But I really like the Sound of Music, Holiday Inn, and White Christmas. I watched the Phantom.... I didn't like it...

Lion King was a good, and Annie. Guys and Dolls was pretty good too.
I've only seen Guys and Dolls live though.
