The other day I was out shopping and came across a kid's version of the Boba Fett helmet. On the side was a button that activated Boba's voice. Firstly it was not the original voice, much to my disappointment. Secondly it had none of his original sayings and thirdly it had too many sayings.

Boba is renowned for being the silent deadly type. It really annoys me that this sort of merchandise it being pumped out mainstream.

I put the helmet back on a random shelf hoping never to find it again. I pray it's one of a kind.

I couldn't even get mad because I was too busy giggling. I mean most of what it said was so laaaaaaaaaame.

Haha, that very same helmet is sitting on my desk.  Yes, I'm a bit disappointed that it's not the original voice but it's so amusing.  Things light up, make shooting sound effects and Fett laughs (which is kinda disturbing, I could never picture him saying any of the stuff this helmet says)  Either way, I think it's funny and just a tad bit scary ;)

What makes me glad I've never seen this helmet here in North Carolina?
Whose idea was it, I wonder, to give it sayings Boba Fett was never known for saying?

Take a hop and a skip to South Carolina and you'll find it.  :D

They do that to "accomodate" kids who know nothing about Boba Fett. It is just so it will sell better. I say that if it isn't accurate don't sell it. I vehemently dislike inaccuracy in merchendise.

The helmet itself isn't very screen-accurate. So I don't see why anyone would expect the thing to be accurate in other ways. xD It looks ridiculous. I would never personally buy one. *shrug*

I wouldn't even buy it for my three year old. Mind you he loves lightsabers, I'd rather get him one of those. ;)

Oh my god, I totally found that helmet in Washington...amd pardon me if I'm incorrect, but the voice sounded AUSTRALIAN rather than like from New Zealand.

Seriously?

I'm a huge snob when it comes to Fett's voice though. I refuse to watch the new editions of Star Wars because I know they have Temura Morrison's voice vice the original.

Perhaps the toy companies just emulated the voice talent, rather than the actual audio from the newest iteration of film?

Yes I understand why the toy company wouldn't have taken the effort to get the actual actor, and that there are plenty of people who don't know the difference between a New Zealand accent and an Australian one. The inner snob in me refuses to allow them to get away with that mistake. :P

For memory I just remember thinking the voice and sayings were lame. Plus the accent sounded put on (no one ever gets an Aussie accent right - they're pretty crap with New Zealander ones too).

Speaking of Boba Fett's voice I think that he should've been given a few lines in Return of the Jedi.
