Well, I for one would like to stick up for Karson and agree with him.

Fett_II, I don't see that it's invalid just because tattoos have been around longer. There has to be a reason for a rule to exist, someone didn't just go, "Ok, let's invent something so we can make it against the rules."

Explain how it is invalid.

Yes, the Bible says a lot of things but we have to try to live up to the standards it sets. Marking up your body is a not that hard to avoid.

all I was saying was the rules are almost impossible to do. I'm not talking about tattoos, thats just a "no" answer but what I was trying to get across was to some people who don't believe in it (cough, cough) and might find it rude to say "You can't do that." cause of some one's religion.

formaldehyde is used to mostly preserve corpses, yes. it's also in plenty of the products we folk buy ("preservation"). in large amounts, it's not good for you. but there's so little you can't tell it's even there.

and karson, the reason your argument is invalid is because the ancient egyptians used to have markings on their body for religious purposes. also, in the da vinci code there's a monk sort of dude (the albino guy, his name is silas or something) who has christian symbols on his body. tattoos aren't blasphemous either, it's just a form of art.

I wouldn't take a movie as being sign of proof for anything.

And I stand by what I said before, tattoos were of course not invented for the sake of being against the rules, obviously they had to be around before the rule existed.

There's many forms of art which go against rules. It's one of the keys to creativity. Can't find much for ideas if one feels censored and blocked in whatever seems too "different". New ideas are often seen as that.

Tattoos aren't all that "different". If it's too much for you, just don't have them. If someone gets a tat, it doesn't make them "against-Bible" for just that. There's being "for", there's being "against", and there's being indifferent, doing stuff just because it's fun or looks good.

Doesn't mean one is an instigator of chaos just because they decide they want something printed on them.

Fett_II the Bible says not to get marks on your body even if christian. Just because its a cross doesn't mean its not a sin... and the Da vinci code is a load of BS. Tattoos are not blasphemous, and I never said they were, I said that they are a sin. God said not to mark on your body and he didn't care if it was a bunch of crosses and pictures of Him, he said no to do it. No were in the Bible does it say its okay to have tattoos of Jesus or God on your body.

So therefore your argument's facts are wrong and have no weight in the current instance. Your side is based on lies.

Karson, just don't get tattoos if you prefer not. And let others decide for themselves, to each their own. You have your own beliefs that you choose to follow, good for you.

Sometimes you have to agree to disagree. You can't force people to see stuff through your eyes or dictate them what to think.

I would love to see god cause there is no actual proof except for jesus looking burns on toast. and yes I did research it ive been studying religion in geography and history i'm happy to say that cave man markings make more sense then the bible, cause tattoos aren't bad they are a type of art which is connected to the heart which then connects to the soul which links to so called god. I will not take back the things I said thou I mean them to the heart, the only reason I stopped was I didn't want any more people hating Karson or me. Respect is a great deal and I don't want to loose respect that is something you fail to see Karson. I understand now that people like you will not change your thought cause you are close minded and "God" Fearing I see that now. This is not my fight, this is a fight for someone that could live forever cause I have to many words to fit into a computer screen. But Karson please pick up a theory of evolution book and read it hopefully it will give you knowledge if you had another fight like this it might help you defend your statements with actual facts on evolution. Everyone, just calm down. This is why I never get into these kinds of debates, the ones that people just fight over endlessly.

Being a Christian who married a Shintoist I've developed a different sort of outlook. Being with him I've seen things that make me believe his religion is real. And the thing is, if you open your mind and take a second look you can see how his religion fits into mine perfectly. I'm not saying I'm being converted, just that his religion is real too. Remember, part of the Ten Commandments is "Thou shalt have no other gods before me". Of course your specific god would want you to honor him above all others. That doesn't mean other gods don't exist. Some religions are fake and I won't point fingers because I don't want to stir the fire any. The bible we have isn't the entire bible, I've found. What we have are just the bits King James decided we should have. In order to have a full look you need to find the Jewish bible, I believe it is. (or I think there might be a cross between KJV and the Jewish one) And some parts of the bible were added. I think it's the last chapter in Mark (the one that has a note on it that says that chapter doesn't exist in some bibles) is such a different writing style from the rest of the book that you can tell it was added later by someone else. And remember, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John were written years later, and everything Paul says should be taken with a grain of salt (he was against marriage of any sort!). Something my mom said once crossed with something my husband says is in the front of his bible, is this: Jesus told a lot of parables. Stories to help get points across. Who's to say what parts of the bible aren't parables? And personally, I think evolution fits in with the bible nicely. I don't remember where, but somewhere in the bible it says that a day to us is like a thousand years, ten thousand years, something like that, to Him or something, the 6 "days" it took to create the world could have been any amount of time. God could have created everything, given it a push, and watched it evolve. As for gay people, being gay should be treated as any other fettish, I mean, you don't see Foot Parades. I think being gay is wrong and is something one would need psychiatry for. If you're a kid who's unsure and is being pushed into it it could hurt you, because as a kid you don't know who you are or what you want yet. And while I'm at it I might as well say it: There is ample proof that black folk didn't evolve as fast as the rest of the world. (I'm not racist, I hate everyone regardless of color and some of my best friends are darker skinned people) Also, you have to look at it from the viewpoint of people without internet or knowledge of worlds outside their own. To some of those people the middle-east IS the entire world. (thus noah's flood didn't cover the ENTIRE Earth, just his own little world) There were people around besides Adam and Eve (other religions have their own adams and eves and the gene pool needed that).

Needless to say I don't really fit in at churches anymore. I know fellowship is good, but the way a lot of "christians" are these days I don't know if I really want to be associated with them anymore anyway.

I don't actively go out to convert, or bible-whack, in fact Jesus said not to be on the street corner preaching and praying, but to be a silent example, but when it's about something that's such a life-changing decision it doesn't hurt to step in and say "God doesn't like it when you do that". And if you're secure in your own religion it shouldn't bother you. You go, "Thanks for the reminder but I'm not Christian." and leave it be. It's not always the fault and responsibility of the Christian, having someone jump down your throat and tear at you for "pushing their religion on you" is just as bad as someone who actually did push it at you.

Now everyone just take a deep breath and let it go.

Also just to quickly address two more points it's not a matter of black people being less evolved, rather people all adapted to their environments in different ways, but we're all equally evolved;second being homosexual doesn't really mean there's anything wrong with you, you were born like that and it's not something that's harmful to anyone so I don't think it's like some problem that needs to be fixed.

Anyway though I agree we should just drop all this now since we're way off topic now lol, so on topic: I'm almost done my summer courses now but my school gym is gonna be closed until September soon and so I'll have to go back to working out at home now, it sucks because I just started too and I'm getting all into it and now I'm gonna have to wait and lose a lot of my progress.

Okay, first off, don't get to carried away here. And keep in mind that everyone is entitled to their own opinions and you're not going to be able to convert them. Keep it civil.

I think homosexuality is perfectly fine. If people chose to be gay, don't you think they'd stop when they're getting attacked and sometimes killed for it? Plus there have been reported cases of homosexual behaviour in animals.

I think almost everything in The Bible has to be taken with a grain of salt. You never know how much was mistranslated or purposely added in or taken out by biased people who want their message to be heard, weather they think it's God's message or not. I try to follow the Ten Commandments and most other things are judgement calls.

I believe in evolution; I think the seven days were metaphores for millions of years. I wouldn't think people in Biblical times would completely understand the concept of evolution, or maybe even that long of a timespan.

Like Miba said, I think Christianity can be compatible with other beliefs and philosophies. I'm admittidly not that familliar with it, but Taoism makes sense to me.

My Dad passed away last Monday, his brain tumor finally got the better of him despite four surgeries, radiation therapy and chemo. I will miss him very much.

But on the bright side I guess I can spend some more time back here once again :P
