I know just about everyone here has an opinion on this. So what are they?

Sorted by oldest to newestActually I don't have much of an opinion. It's sad that it's so destructive and the water and fish and animals and all that. But there's not a whole lot I can do, so all I can do is sit back and wonder why there aren't charities you can donate to to help out. I guess because it's America that's affected and people only care about donating money to help countries besides their own.

I don't quite understand what you mean there Miba
"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." -Matthew 7:3-5
That's what I mean. We ignore our own starving, our own homeless, and throw meals and homes at other countries. I just figure it's about time we take care of our own first. One major catastrophe gets countless thousands thrown at it and another gets ignored, who decides which one is more important? Sure, this is animals and other eco stuff, but that's about as important, I mean, it still ultimately affects us.
And right now instead of placing blame and pointing fingers it should just get cleaned up. Instead of us all sitting back and grumbling about oil companies and expecting them to do it all we should just get it taken care of.

I agree then. We are too busy trying to be nice America and not paying attention to the bum underneath the bridges.
Thank you for understanding, I wasn't sure if I was maybe not making sense or being mean or something.

I mean, your right. The US needs to mind its business for awhile
It should be worth pointing out that, while we immediatly rush forward with aid and help with international disasters, we do not have the same happen to us when we have disasters in our own country. I think a lot of people think "It's the US, they can handle it on their own" and don't give it a second thought.
As for the oil spill itself.... It breaks my heart evey time I see images of the spill, and I think it's terrible that BP took shotcuts just to be quick and cheap, not caring about the potential risk. Not to mention they should have been prepared to deal with an oil spill at any time.
yeah, Cecilia is right. BP was incredibly unprepared. And hopefully they'll realize that shortcuts aren't the way to go. Still, I think that the oil spill isn't the most important thing in the world, and it shouldn't be getting the attention that it is. I think the media should focus on more important things... not that the media should be trusted on any subject...
because of my view on both sides, I don't have a large oppinion on the matter.
we do really need to stick to our own problems. let the people who have devised methods on how to deal with the spill deal with the spill. such as kevin costner and his $11,000,000 or 30 mil, machine that specifically extracts oil.
Or we could let Russia help us out. They've offered.
Man. You know that upset me. I'm kinda an evil like hippy O.o I didn't like it at all. All the animals that got killed. All the problems it's causing... All I'm gonna say is i's not good... I don't wanna get arrested rofl.
Well if they would just suck up as much oil as they could,it would save a lot of money. Heck, that oil in the water might has well me little 100 dollar bills floating through the water.
oh it is. BP is probably about half a billion in debt now. probably more.
Yeah man, they have to pay those fisherman that are helping them clean up the oil, I am telling you, there are a lot of fisherman helping with the Oil.
Take a look at this story
What is it, two and a half months later?
A cap has finally shut off the flow of oil; and it's still not a final fix. Who would have thought....
hehe, this is hilarious
"I got Kevin Costner on the line; HE'LL know what to do!"
That's classic; and so sadly accurate...

I saw that a little while ago. Thank God.
