lol this is great. if we work together, we can invent all of fett's equipment in real life. maybe even the jetpack. now, i'm already trying to make the dart-shooter and the whipcord. i have some ideas for the dart-shooter, but i need help with the whipcord. im sure i can make a rope shoot out but how do i make it wrap itself around something?

there was an episode about whipcords and similar working gadgets on the superhero episode of Mythbusters...

they got a working grappling line going, but it was soooooooooooo impractical...lol

Actually I don't remember the grappling gun working (if you mean the rifle version)...

What about a cell phone build into a helmet?  Anybody tried that?  Would be neat to have a speaker near the mouth, an ear peice, and the keypad on one of the gauntlets; though not sure if that's possible though

I'm considering taking a pair of jagged, fantasy looking fantasy knives and making my Predator like wrist blades   :D

Don't think I'll be able to come up with a functional spring action, but hoping to have them removable so I'll have the look of extended and retracted

I wear a voice amp which sits in one of my hip pouches and a mic in front of my mouth, this enables me to communicate with Joe Public. The speaker can't be in the helmet as you get serious feedback problems. Some Stormtroopers have gotten around this by having tiny speakers in the tips at the front of the helmet, but these are so small that you can't get much volume from them. Some people have radio units hidden in the armour, these are connected to the same mic that is connected to their voice amp. A magnetic switch hidden in the inside of the helmet and triggered by a magnet in the tip of a forefinger allows the user to switch between talking through their amp and talking through their radio to other troopers AND looks Star Wars as you are touching the side of your helmet to talk. Remove your finger and you switch back to your voice amp.

Wow, schweet stuff Orthar!  My helmet isn't the best, so it's going to be a test bed for all that sort of stuff later as I can afford it.  Thanks for the ideas, can't wait to try some of them out!   :D

Well, as to the cell inside the helmet, a bluetooth or wired headset, run down the back of the helmet to a cell might work. Pretty simple too. Not too expensive. But a good spot for the cell might be hard.

I'm working on adding a light to the side of my helmet that will sit over the antenna's joint cap.  It's kinda getto the way I'm setting it up, but it'd be a neat start, and if painted properly I'm hoping it'll look pretty good.  I

stuck it on just for testing, and the best part I found is that it's very usefull as well as just cool looking.  I'm using one of this head-band lights that can adjust for hands-free lighting.  I cut off the band and plan to glue or velcro it onto my bucket.  It has three settings: red night vision, lamp, and spotlight.  The red is just plan coolness on wheels - it gives a Predator-esk targeting sensor feel.  the other two LED settings look good, and are VERY helpful in the dark.  One thing I've found out about wearing my bucket is that my vision is pretty good in bright places, but you can't see crap if it's anywhere near dark.  But with the spotlight on, I was actually walking around outside in the dark!  So this is my must have project right now.  I'll try to post some pics when I get things stuck together
