So I guess LucasFilm is aware of the insane popularity the Mandalorians have gained?

I hate to sound so bitter (not really), but I liked the Mandos when they were more obscure. Now everyone and their uncle who owns cut-up trash can armor claims to be a "Mando."

Reading over the paragraph again, I'm hoping they're referring to Mandalore, the planet, and not the person.  That would actually make sense, as well.  I'm still wondering how they'll work Boba into the series and if it'll still go along with the story laid out in the Young Boba Fett series?

Also, got some image stills saved, if anyone's not seen what they look like yet.

Well, at least now we know the paragraph in the links above were referring to Mandalore the planet and not that the individual in the trailer was Mandalore.  Check it out.

ADHD version of this post at the bottom below the dashes if you need it!

My wife will probably laugh at me me for this, but I am my own person and have my own opinions.  I'm going to expand on something I said in another thread:

I have to address the major concern I hear.  A lot of the second generation of Star Wars fans complain that Clone Wars isn't "canon", and reject it outright.  A lot from the second even dislike the third generation because of it.  Well, I'm 32, and from the generation before THEM, and feel they're missing the point.  If you're THAT worried about "canon" and "continuity" there's no reason you should like Episode 1 or 2, either, as compared to the true original trilogy.  You'd think Vader JUST might have recognized C3P0 and R2, considering he supposedly BUILT C3P0.  Why did Han Solo call Jedi an "ancient religion" if it was an _active_ religion no more then (at maximum, religions don't just die out because the people in charge say it's illegal) 18 years ago?  Why was everyone acting like Obi-Wan was an ancient man, when he was (apparently) barely pushing 55?  Midichlorians?  Are we expected to believe the Empire forgot how to test for those or something?  Lucas has ALWAYS made stuff up as he went along, there has never been a coherent plot; it's got as many retcons as a Marvel comic.

Vader being Luke's FATHER was clearly not planned and just pulled out of nowhere.  How, exactly, did they "hide" Luke by... sticking him with his REAL Aunt and Uncle and using his REAL last name?  If Vader was so interested in making sure everyone who could use the Force was wiped out... one would think he would murder everyone named "Skywalker" from his OWN HOME PLANET just out of general common sense.

At the end of the day, Anakin Skywalker having an apprentice between Episodes 2 and 3 he never once mentions in Episode 3 is small beer compared to past ridiculous spur of the moment retcons Lucas has done for another dollar.  These clones becoming known as Mandalorians?  It doesn't matter, that's just now the way it IS.  And the second generation of fans is going to have to learn a skill the first generation did as well: just accept it.  Things change.

I learned to accept Jedi is no longer an ancient tradition, with weapons from a "more civilized era", it's now "Hey Luke I served with Jedi when I was your age!".  Vader isn't just an extremely badass enforcer in a long line of enforcers Palpatine's long-lived and feared empire has had anymore, now he's just Palpatine's second in command in an "Empire" that sprang up, effectively, less then a generation ago.  Jabba the Hutt is no longer a small time but scary criminal overmind on a useless, jerkwater planet named Tatooine, now he apparently has controlled most of the crime in that entire SECTOR for 40 years or something.

And that Boba guy we all like so much?  Remember the theater in 1983?  When he showed up in Return of the Jedi?  I was there and many others on these boards were as well.  I was only 6, but I remember it well because I LOVED Star Wars until TPM broke my heart.  Everyone laughed at what happened to him, and he was a comic relief character.  But the fans loved him, and we got him changed into something so much better.  He took off, his back story was fleshed out, and that comedic _rookie_ mishap has been retconned into one of the _very_ few mistakes an amazing, tens steps above the rest, galaxy-feared bounty hunter has ever made.

My wife, only 10 years younger then I, is from the second generation of fans.  To her... Boba Fett has ALWAYS been an extraordinary badass.

My generation of fans has learned to accept that NOTHING stays the same.  The novels were the last holdout of sane continuity but from what I can gather they've just been retcon after retcon as well lately.  It took me a while, even longer then most of my generation (Episode 3 brought me back), but we learned to accept it, even if we still hate Jar-Jar.  I LOVE Boba's new badass persona.  I can get into it.  He's awesome to read about.  But he wasn;t always that way.

My wife has compalined that "These kids will think the Clone Wars cartoon is Canon!"  Well, guess what honey?  Welcome to Star Wars.  You think Threepio being built by Darth Vader is Canon.  You think Boba being the best Bounty Hunter to draw breath is canon.  And you know what?  You're right on both counts.. but you're only right because Star Wars has changed and evolved.  It always has.  It always will.

Star Wars is changing again, because it wants to stay an iconic part of our culture.  Star Wars could not have stayed forever based solely on the strength of the original trilogy; and it cannot stay forever on the strength of the prequel trilogy either.  Star Wars has always been an expanding, changing body of work; and if you would like Star Wars to remain in our culture another 30-some odd years from now, you have to accept that it always will be.

A reminder: comics blessed as CANON in the late 70's had Luke and Leia _marry_.  Star Wars will always change in pursuit of the mighty dollar; and that is what keeps it up front on while things like Babylon 5 will fall to irrelevancy.  Is anyone here a truly big fan of Dragnet?  It was huge the first time Star Wars was... where is it now?  It's a footnote.  But Star Wars evolved with the times and hangs on.

---------------------------
TL;DR version

Canon has always been a malleable thing in our fandom.  Take it easy, give Clone Wars a chance on it's own merits, not worrying about your particular version of canon.  In a time of crap like Spongebob, something playful and still moderately intelligent like Clone Wars is NEEDED.  Kids have nothing else to watch.

Heh.  My Navy friend, who does not post here read my post and and asked me to tell you : "Yeah.  18 years?  Calling a lightsaber a weapon "from a more civilized era" for just 18 years out of usage is like calling an F-14 Tomcat a graceful fighter for a more civilized era of dogfighting."

Well said  ZiviReywes. The canon will make you crazy if you let it. I don't watch Clone Wars on a regular basis. My nephew loves it, so I watch with him sometimes. I enjoy it and think it's a fairly good show for the kids to watch. It's a lot better than most kids shows.

Man right now I am just so super happy to be back in Japan...the timing was just perfect.

We get things here with a bit of a lag so the Clone Wars TV show just started here when I got back. I only missed the first episode and am faithfully recording the rest because if I buy them on DVD my Japanese friends won't have the luxury of understanding anything without the subtitles. Also, the zones are different so anyway i have just now started watching the show. Two episodes in all I can say is that is is really cool to see something "Star Wars" new every week. I know a lot of people have mixed emotions and I am not really a fan of episodes one - three anyway but, again, it is really cool to be able to watch a new SW show every week...I mean if nothing else it beats the hell out of the zillion different versions of the same NCIS/CIS/SVU/Numbers/ Detective/ Legal shows that seem to be overwhelming the American television landscape. We get that crap here too but I never watch it because it is so formulaic, and if I am going to watch something predictable it might as well be filled with robots and space ships and light sabers.

So for now I say The Clone Wars TV show is pretty cool and fun to watch.

Yup.  She was impersonating Zaa Vashee to foil a kidnapping plot.  I'm all for whatever exotic fantasies, but isn't Lucas himself adamant about her being 11?  I know someone will say "The slavers don't care.  They will exploit anyone" and yes, that is correct in-universe.  But the problem is it was written BY someone in our universe, and then drawn by someone in our universe.

It's not the worst thing I've seen though, it's actually kinda tame, albeit still wrong.  Anyone ever heard of Zatch bell (Gash bell for those of you who like to pretend you're Japanese)?  This is a show that stars a teenager who is followed around by a little boy in a girl's sailor dress.  Google Image search the show.  the "in universe" explanation is that's some sort of advanced sorceror's robes and the little boy is actually a demon.  That's fine for "in universe" except the show was created by people from OUR universe, and at the end of the day; it's just a cheap excuse to have a blonde little boy running around in a girl's school dress.  It's creepy and the artist of the manga draws a LOT of REALLY gross "fanservice" pictures of said little boy, including so far two volumes of what amounts to "upskirt" collections of the character.

And the cynical part of me honestly believes Ahsoka may exist simply to pander to the unhealthy lolicon thing going on with people who don't shower often and watch way too much anime, and think they speak Japanese when they actually sound like 5 year old girls.

....not sure what this says about me since Ahsoka's becoming one of my favorite Star Wars characters; but at least I'm not so far gone that I can't be a little repelled by what's essentially the fictional exploitation of a child.

Oh anyone who thinks I am overreacting, go onto a BDSM forum and ask one of the people there about that image.  That type of wear and that specific POSE are integral to their games, and I doubt that's a coincidence.  (The pose is called "Wild Horse" incidentally, because it's a slave that wants to be broken.  Is it obvious I lived in Hollywood for a time?  lol)

... and no, I actually don't have a problem with fans drawing and enjoying that sort of thing.  Like I said.. indulge whatever exotic fantasies turn you on.  I DO have issues with it showing up in officially licensed works.  That's one of those lines that Star Wars has always kept tastefully on the other side of, and I don't want to see it turn into Heavy Metal.

No matter how much I like that magazine... if I want that I'd go buy it.  It does not belong in family entertainment.

USAToday just announced, and Daniel Logan shared on his facebook wall, that he will be returning to voice Boba Fett at the end of this season and next season. Apparently, a young Fett leads a motley crew of bounty hunters (up against Cad Bane perhaps?).

For me, having Fett and Bane face off (Since they are both absed off "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" Characters, has been foreshadowed since the beginning. I await that moment with great anticipation.

Also, did you notice the female bounty hunter in tongiht's episode holding a very familiar blaster rifle.  Very nice lead-in and a nice nod to "The Seven Samurai."

Also, check out who else is working with Fett in the new episode:  http://www.starwars.com/fans/events/news/wondercon_fett_aurra/index.html

Looks like they're going to be at WonderCon this year.  I think I'd go just to meet Jamie King (voice of Aurra Sing).  Very nice.
