September 30, 2009 2:19 am # I saw the movie Friday and really, I'm shocked people aren't going out to see this. There were barely ten of us in the theatre (and I was only one of two girls...) and none of us had a negative reaction to the movie. The visuals of the movie really amazed me, and the story had me going for more. A lot of movies in this day and age are 3D as a gimmick, but this was a rare case in which I don't think it would've worked as well in traditional animation. It's very well done, with such great little details on the characters and the backgrounds which allow you to be taken away to this desolate, ruined world.
The nine, I feel, are characters any of us can identify with in one way or another, they're all really different (well, except for 3 and 4). You also can get a pretty clear idea of their motives. The only one who doesn't have much character development due to...reasons is 2, and anyways you get an idea on what he was like just from the others talking about him later.
This movie is kinda really depressing, but theres also hope for the future as well. I'm not the kind of person who cries at movies, but this movie had me bawling (though granted I'm coming off of a really bad week and I'm not, emotionally, in the best state right now, so maybe thats why. Or now). So a warning to those who cry easily at movies, you might want to bring some tissues in your pocket.

October 11, 2009 3:20 am # I'd never been a fan of anything Tim Burton has made, but the previews for this REALLY had me interested. Don't think I'll get a chance to see it in theaters, but I'll be looking to pick it up when it's out for rent.

October 14, 2009 6:38 pm # I tend to like Tim Burton's works myself, unfortunately I didn't have a chance to see many of his latest ones. Might try this one, even 3D if it's still out there.

October 14, 2009 10:59 pm # I thought it was very intruiging. I went and saw it and thought the animation was very good. It was also nice to here Elijah Wood. My problem is that I found the plot quite predicatable. I dunno. It was good but came out slightly bored at the end.

October 15, 2009 6:30 pm # It's still up, but apparently not for long, we only have it in one cinema in all Montreal. I guess I could try to go see it tomorrow. I'll ask "Marion" if she wants to come see it with me after work.

October 16, 2009 8:43 pm # I saw the tail end of the movie (long story) and don't really have an interest in seeing the rest of it.
I ended up leaving and using the ticket to watch Cloudy with a Chance...or whatever the one is with Mr. T. as a police officer.
It looked like a decent animated film but the trailers and what I saw looked...similar. But I can't say what is is I've seen that's like it. Maybe it's just because it's Tim Burton.
I'll abdicate at the drop of a hat

October 16, 2009 8:47 pm # We didn't go. Marion's been sick all day today, and now the movie's not in cinemas anymore. It didn't stay up there for very long, and that's usually not a good sign.
Might try to go for something else tomorrow if she's better.

October 17, 2009 2:31 am # I am really hoping this film comes to Japan...the Japanese usually really dig Tim Burton films. They still produce new merchandise for the Nightmare before Christmas here. Ever year new day planners and calendars and phone lanyards and all kinds of stuff are sold. Edward Scissorhands is still really bid here too although there was never much merchandise associated with it.

October 17, 2009 5:02 am # I really wish this wasn't a box office failure, I thought it was really good. The reviews I read were positive, and yet no one went out to see it. =/ Although nothing can beat the theatre experience, when it comes to DVD, definitly check it out.
