There's nothing hilarious about it. It's angsty and dramatic. I liked it. I've never read the books, but if I happen to find them used somewhere for cheap I might get them.

I confess, I'm a Twilight fan (in case you haven't found out already). I can't wait for the sequel to come out!

I don't know... the acting was pretty strange and terrible.

Yeah, I've found most guys don't like it. My husband hates it. Mainly for it overplaying the strengths of vampires and giving them a few things they can't do, like go in the sun.

yeah. vampires don't sparkle.

And I'm pretty sure a vampire would consume the blood of humans as opposed to making out with them.

I can't fathom how adults are fans of it either. Stephanie Myers never wrote anything before Twilight, and it came to her in a dream. Now mind you that alone doesn't make it bad. But when you see her product of sissy vampires... ones even Tom Cruise could beat up.... (heck even Kirsten Dunst could for that matter), well then you know she's just pathetic. The only problem is that a lot of people drank her kool-aid and is laughing all the way to the bank.

I second Fett_II's comment... they don't sparkle... or drink clamato juice :P (I loved that episode :) )

Twilight is dumb. Although Vampires can go out in daylight (Its true. Read the original Dracula novel), they are nothing like portrayed in Twilight. All they are is a bunch of sissy pretty boys interisted in human chicks. I want to punch them for being thoroghly uninteristing. The only people who like Twilight are teenage girls and women who are obsessed with chick flicks.

true, but they needed to cover their skin. not in twilight. if you've seen the film adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula, you will notice that he in fact uses an umbrella (i'm sure this is in the book as well), and is covered heel-to-toe. in twilight they walk around like nothing. in the modern vampire mythos, the only person that can walk in daylight are dhampirs, or half-vampires, such as Vampire Hunter D. a great vampire book series that should be read.

Yeah, I don't like it at all. My mom and sis went to see it, trying to convince me to go with 'em. So I went and saw Defiance instead. (Really good movie btw)

I'm not sayin that they can't go outside during daylight hours without being prepared. I'm saying that the notion that Vampies can't go outside during the day and that Dracula pioneered it is wrong. But then, so is Twilights take on that. If they glow in the daylight, you'd think it'd be really obviously easy to hunt those idiots down! >_<

OKAY! This settles it, I won't check this out. Ever. Many have voiced their disapproval of this show/movie and I had a feeling it would be terrible... but you definitely stated the best argument. It's a horny girl's diary fantasy with lots of editing and TV production. Aka, crap.

That's because Captain Jack Sparrow was a great, quirky character.  He had personality and many layers.  Edward Cullen is a pansy who goes prancing around making sure everyone knows how sexy he thinks he is.  :P

Ok I have an update. I was bored and pissy the other night and curiosity killed the cat.I broke down and watched the stupid movie of twilight. But everything I suspected was confirmed.

There are so many things wrong with it that its almost comical/kitchy. But the problem is they made it with a straight face. The story plays like moody high school outcasts fantasy story. ( If anyone if familiar with the writing style of that age group, they'd back me up on it. I used to be a real nerd and be editor of my high school's lit. magazine. I was "in" writing...) That means BAD and FULL of cliche. The acting is HORRIBLE. That chick has one expression.... mouth open like a fish. And The dude who plays Edward.... what a punk.(not in the music/fashion sort...) There is nothing logical to the plot OR the romance. Its bad even amongst romantic movies.  The best part that they had, aka the action and conflict with that other vampire guy... was rushed and added almost as an after thought.  That should have been the bulk of the movie.

So, now no one can say i speak with out trying.

Meat is murder...... tasty tasty murder.

No offense but from pictures and random movie excerpts Edward Cullen looks sort of retarded. I don't find him attractive at all because he is not a man.

He's a douche.

Honestly, I don't go for the pretty boy type. I don't like a man who looks like he spends a lot more time in the mirror then I do. They definitly are not a representation of men and how they look in the real world. Granted, men like that on TV and in the movies are a minority. In Hollywood, men can actually get away with being fat and thoroghly average. Unless you're the male love interist in a chick flick.

Couldn't agree more. He's vomit inducing and yet hes shown off as such a good looker. *shudders* he makes Zac Effron look good hes so ugly. (Its not my fault i hate pretty boys..... Unless Christian Bale is considered a pretty boy....)

And i think i dislike muscled guys too. Has anyone tried to snuggle up and watch Star Wars with a guy thats all arms and chest and six pack abs? I can't believe that its comfortable.

My ex told me to read the books, for which she received a prompt "hell no", but I was duped into seeing the movie, which I didn't enjoy much more than the prospect of wasting dozens more hours reading about it. The only part that made me feel even mildly motivated was when the random drunk jocks who apparently chill in empty, dark parking lots were like "omg, ur mad hot" and she's like "stfu", and then Mr. Hollywood Vampire comes driving in all screechy and squeely and gets out. At this point I was ready for a badass fight scene, especially with the "Get in the car." line. But no. He glares at them and they run away, I mean come on.

I recall hearing that there was a really corny scene in the movie were one group of vampires meets a rival group of vampires. Ooh drama, right? Nope. They fight by...playing a game of baseball. Cause I know thats how I solve all MY issues with a rival group with my super natural powers.

That is not how they fight. The good ones are playing and the bad ones show up and then everyone leaves and they have an actual fight scene later on.

I actually read the book when it first came out, I never saw it as anything but a light read. I enjoyed it but honestly would fit it in as a teen book. The vampires aren't portrayed as your normal type of vampire, hence the walk in the daylight etc. I decided to read the other books more recently and they were okay too, but again very teen. I've not seen the movie but I suspect it'll be crap compared to the novels... is usually the way.

There's some better novels out there that challenge the normal "vampire" theme, Rulers of Darkness is the first book and I loved it along with the following books. Basically the "vampires" have a genetic disorder that requires them to need blood. I thought these books were great: http://www.vampirelibrary.com/books/spruill.htm much more nitty gritty than Twilight.

ROFL! I loved that fake trailer. I'm even afraid to watch the real trailer, though. I hate Twilight. How can a vampire not want to eat human blood? I don't know. I heard it was dumb. Check this out, a list of attacks by fangirls that have ended in bruises, and even in one case, blindness in one eye. This is why I hate Twilight: http://twilightsucks.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=fangirls&action=display&thread=5175

You know it's not just Twilight. It's anything, really. Anyone remember the kids who saw Home Alone and started doing that stuff to each other? Or the girls who cut their hair with knives after seeing Mulan do it? It's early morning and I'm still sleepy so those are the only examples that jump to mind but I'm sure I can remember others later after I wake up. Is that any reason to hate the movie/s? No. It's a reason to hate stupid. The movie's there, and just like anything else, it's how people handle it that matters. If it wasn't Twilight those people were attacking others over it'd be something else.

I forgot about this thread. I was actually looking for a different one.

I made an attempt to read the first book and I made it a little over 100 pages before I gave up in disgust. It was mind-numbing. My intelligence dropped a lot while reading it. For starters, whatshername who wrote it did no research on anything and made up "facts" to fit her story. For example, the first thing to come to mind, is when they make a fire on the beach and it's blue because of the salt. If there was that much salt in the air they'd be dead. Or, how about how Edward claims people can't smell blood? My husband can smell it. Or, as far as either me or my husband can think of (neither of us know a whole lot about cars, so we COULD be wrong), there is no such thing as a master cylinder in a car.

One of my biggest complaints is how MarySue is always going on about how clumsy she is. As someone who IS clumsy, let me tell you, being dreadfully clumsy isn't about lack of coordination while playing sports. The book never tells you she bumps into doorways (except once but she was mad at the time), stubs her toes, trips over stuff, bumps her knees, scrapes her arms/hands, cuts herself accidentally. Never shows her examining various bruises/cuts with no idea where they came from. These things are daily occurrences for me. She never finds new and interesting ways to hurt herself. Me, I managed to close my face in a door the other day. Almost took my glasses off. Her? She trips over a tree root. Big deal.

MarySue also feels that she's excluded from everyone, that she's different, that she doesn't fit in. ...just like a lot of teenagers feel. But everyone likes her so she has no reason to complain.

Edward is creepy and treats MarySue very condescendingly. Always amused by what she says, as if he knows all and she's just a little child. I didn't appreciate the violence in his dragging her to the car either, which he found amusing and she sorta liked. He seems to have two emotions: Amused and serious. If I were the one writing the book I'd have given Edward a flaw, for he has none such as he is now. He's above everyone, smiling with amusement at everything. This is not a good sort of male example for girls to want.

She seems to have had an idea, but had no way to convey it. She has the words there for emo, but I just don't feel it. The beginning seemed kinda tacked on. Like she had the story in her mind, but had to make a way to start the story. Which would by why she tells us everything from what clothes she's wearing to what day of the week it is, to waste space. And now that we're finally in the story we don't even know what she's wearing or what she's having for dinner. At least be consistent. Either keep up with the details or never have any details. Mary-Sue seems to exist for the sake of the story. I don't know any of her interests, except that she likes the same music he likes. She's just sorta... there.

My overall impression is that this is a fanfiction of itself. And it's not even good fanfiction either.

Reality doesn't care if you believe in it.

I never really liked twilight I think that it is a disgrace to real vampire movies, but that doesn't really surprise because twilight was made for girls you can tell by how it is a love/dramatic story. Also the vampire's in this movie aren't real vampires they are  more like wannabe vampires on steroids.
