I liked the original Sims. Too bad they were kinda retarded when it came to the bed; even if I had two single beds next to eachother, if one was sleeping in one, the other would not use the other bed. They wouldn't even share the bed made SPECIFICALLY for two Sims to use at once. Nor could I get them to sleep in single beds even if they were spaced apart. In the end I fingured out a way around that and bought a ton of sofas. Now one gets a bed and the others sleep on sofas.

They were also extremely retarded about stoves and would not Stop. Burning. Down. The house! They'd burn it down on the first day and kill one or more of themselves even! More annoying was the fact that the pizza delivery guy would get there in, like, 5 game minutes, but the fire department took a game hour! What the hell?! >_<

lmao. I never played Sims 1, but some of the retarded stuff continued in Sims 2, they still burn down the house just from cooking their stuff, and have the moth syndrome. Instead of running away they run at the fire and stand there, with the windmill arms, panicking like idiots.

Today in my Sims 2 game, one of my Sims (a sim of Doc Emmett Brown, in fact!) wanted to see a ghost, well he saw the ghost so many times, repeatedly, that he ended up dying from it. Dying from fear! Literally! Another one had to call him back from the tomb using some item.

Glad to hear you tried and liked Sims 3, Miba. I don't know if I'll play it much, myself, besides just to know it enough to be able to create custom content for it. It's so huge a machine to run, and I'm not sure I like it.

One thing I never liked about Sims 1 and 2 was that it took an hour to go to the bathroom and you had to go so many times a day. In Sims 3 you go once a day or so and it takes five minutes. And there's an unlockable option that allows you to go even less! It's wonderful.

It does take some getting used to. Especially the fact that you can't create your own town and have to play in the ones they give you. I hope they release an expansion at some point that allows you to create your own town. But I don't think I'll be going back to Sims 2 very often.

Thats what mine do! Which doesn't help when it just delays them calling the fire department even more. Or when they die from their stupidity because they won't leave the house!

Oooh you got a Doc Brown Sim? That is SO COOL. Like Star Wars, Back to the Future is easily one of my favorite sets of movies! I hope he has a Marty to go along with him. =3

So it's true. I thought it was just me being a n00b, and that there was some option I couldn't find that allowed you to make your own custom town from scratch. I hate playing with their pre-made stuff. I always removed all Maxis-made towns and characters and made my own worlds in my Sims 2 games.

I think the video games I've most enjoyed playing were Final Fantasy 2 (FF4, in Japan), Final Fantasy 7, Crimson Skies, Knights of the Old Republic, Assassins Creed, Brothers in Arms, the Call of Duty series, and the old Wing Commander games.

Oh yeah, and I really got addicted to playing Sid Meier's Pirates several months back.  That was just plain fun.

Ooh FFIV! I LOVE IV. Most underrated Final Fantasy IMO. Have you played a patched version of the original version? How about the new DS version? Also, the sequel.

And, as cool as that Doc is, I only have the first Sims game, so no, I can't have Doc too, unfortunitly. Talking about this though makes me think back one of the first computer games I ever played, the original SimCity. And later along the lines, SimAnt, SimTown, SimTower, and SimFarm (yes, farm XD). I always feel so...evil playing SimCity/3000. I'll build the city up to a point and get bored building stuff for a while so I save and completely annihilate the city using a veriety of disasters.

Haven't played the DS version, but I did pick up a used copy of Final Fantasy Chronicles for the PS1 at Gamestop the other day.  Is that the version you're talking about?  I was picking up the new Ghostbusters game, which is fun as heck to play if you get the chance.  Anyway, it's got FF2 and Chronotrigger on it.  I have no idea what Chronotrigger has to do with the FF series, other than it's the same game maker, but I've been wanting to play it for a while now.  Just can't find a good copy for the SNES with instructions anymore.  It's usually too expensive for my tastes on eBay.  The FF2 game on there, though, supposed to have updated cut scenes that they didn't have the tech to do on the old SNES, back in the day.

Well, I can describe the DS version as the defenitive version of IV. It includes even more updated cut scenes, and even some brand new flashbacks to help flesh out the story even more. I wouldn't recommend that version of Chrono Trigger though...its not very good. The game lags, and the music is terrible; not even anime cutscenes can save it. I, well, like the DS version more, since it has a new, accurate translation now instead of being a simple port. And time and care was put into it to make sure it wouldn't lag and that the music was clear and perfect.

Too bad you don't have Sims 2, Cecilia. If you ever do, tell me and I'll share my stuff with you if you want. Sounds fun what you did with SimCity 3000, annihilating cities when you're fed up with them. You should have made little movies of that. I tried Sim City 4 but I am too dumb to understand anything.

I loved FFVI, myself. more than IV, and more then the sequels. Also loved Chrono Trigger. Only played the SNES version on my PC as a rom and it's great, and the music was great too, but I have to say it was on my PC not on a SNES. I have the DS version too and I still have to try it. Loved the stone age girl. Put the berserker thing on her head and she becomes a killing machine.

Sadriel did you look it up as rom?

I have SimCity for the SNES, and for the PC, but I've never played my PC version. I liked SimSafari too, that was fun. I've also played SimCity 2000 for the PS1 and PC, it's alright. I have 4, but haven't played it. I think I played SimCity 3000 but I'm not sure, I think I just watched someone else play it. SimTower was fun. Pretty much the only Sim game I don't like is Urbz. The music makes my head hurt.

I've never played any of the Final Fantasy games, though my brother is addicted to an MMO (11? 12? Something like that, I think it's 11). I liked the movie, Advent Children I think it was called, but I guess there was a lot in it I didn't really get cause I never played the game. I pretty much had to have my brother explain a lot of it to me.

Wow, you girls played all the "Sim" games. I only played Sims 2 (both on GameCube and PC) and a little of Sims 3. I wanted to build my area of city in SimCity4 to use it as a neighborhood in Sims 2 but when I installed SimCity4 I felt overwhelmed by all the functions I couldn't understand. And the part of city I wanted to map was wayyy too big anyway. It would have taken too much time to map all that and Sims 2 isn't hip enough anymore to invest so much effort on a single neighborhood map.

I only played the Final Fantasy games I to VI, including the japanese ones released on the NES. But that's it. Someone has shown me some of the 3D sequels (VII, and another) but I can't say I really felt appealed. I haven't seen the movie you're mentioning. When was it released?

And just a question like that. What do you think is better? Movies based on videogames, or videogames based on movies?

Theres only one Final Fantasy MMORPG...at the moment, and thats 11. I don't really think they should do that with the main series personally. Make an MMORPG and call it Final Fantasy Online, don't waste numbers within the main series for it. Sometimes I feel like Square is getting lazy.

Yes, many companies seem to think it's the new way of making money with gamers. There's MMORPGs popping everywhere now.

Depends on the movie. If we're talking about Ghost Busters then games based on movies.

one of the most unique FPSers I've ever played. They play on the nostalgia so well while also bringing you into a new storyline. The jokes are funny, the action is intense, the ghosts are impressive. Everything in the game from pack/wand upgrades to getting to wander around the fire house in between missions is great. My only gripe is not getting to drive Ecto1 :P

I think someone just got a little confused over the conversation. The thread is titled "favorite video game" and if you're not paying attention and just see someone posting "nintendo wii" you'd think that was their answer to the thread question, and not an answer to a previously posted question inside the thread. I guess that's why we use the quote option to answer these questions so no one's confused.

i like a game with a good replay value. And in general I like games that give you a lot of freedom, like, no storyline to be stuck with, or the possibility to not follow it, and play your own way. Also a range of different characters to choose from, to make your team, not necessarily just good characters. I like to be able to hire the mean guys too.

Uncharted Waters : New Horizons
was a good title for that on the SNES back in the 2D games era. Not much of a graphics game, but requires a lot of strategy and memory. It's even better if you can make tables for certain things, else you get lost quickly.

I never tried it, but my daughter really likes it (she's 14). I watched her play it a few times, it's cute. I don't know if I could really spend hours on it, but I guess I could try.

He said one of the levels took an hour, the rest were easy, and he finished the game in about 4 1/2 hours, and on his second play-through he did it in 3 1/2 hours. But then he's super excellent at games, so maybe it's just his skill getting him through so fast? He's a big fan of Ghostbusters, but he said that the game is deffinately not worth 50 dollars, it's more of a 15-20 dollar game maybe. He said that the game has no development. You're just this guy and you're not even really in the story, you're just sorta there.

I haven't played it myself, this is all just what he said.

Ghostbusters looks like a rent, if anything. Doesn't look bad, just doesn't interest me, funny as the movies I've seen were.

Just picked up Assassins Creed yesterday, and am loving it. I've heard it gets repetitive, but I'm close to the third of nine targets, and its not bothering me yet. Its a ton of fun, and a very original game--the story and the setting make for a great game, and fun gameplay adds to it.

I don't know, something about being able to run around of the rooftops of Jerusalem, Damascus, and Acre, looking for some one to interrogate, pickpocket, or eavesdrop on, so I can assassinate some slave trader or Templar, is pretty awesome.

Very awesome game.  The monotonous thing about playing, is trying to find all the flags in the different cities to get those achievements.  I found this site, that really, really helps.

http://www.assassinscreed-maps.com/Maps.htm

It shows you where the flags are at, plus, you can check off which ones you already got, since it'll probably take you a few days to get them all.  Just make sure your browser isn't set to delete all your cookies whenever you exit out of the browser, and it'll save the ones you've already checked off.  It also shows where all the Templars are at, for that achievement, as well, but it doesn't have check boxes for them.

Yeah, I've got the first one. Second comes out this November.

It is very good. Gameplay can get repetitive, because there are only like 4 investigation mission types, Pickpocket, Eavesdrop, Interrogate, and Informer, and you need 2 and later 3 completed to assassinate some one. So lots of each by the end of the game. But the first is fun and the graphics and environments are pretty awesome. So fun to run around ancient cities like Jerusalem or Damascus. And story is great.

And yeah, the second looks BEAUTIFUL.

Shame, no one has so much as mentioned the MGS Series...by far my favorite. Remind me to snipe you all for that later... Halo 1-3 are great, although the 13-under crowd on online multiplayer get on my nerves though, takes a bit of the fun out. Call of Duty 4 has excellent replay value, online and campaign. I also have recently picked up Army of Two, which Ralin stated earlier is a really fun game when you have 2 people to play with.

Army of Two is ok... when you can get the control of the damn camera, lol. Apparently I'm fine for aiming and shooting but I still got to get the hang of the camera thing. :P

Werda, for Assassin's Creed, do you think the Wii version is worth it? I was wondering if I should get it.

Sorry for the late reply.

Um, I have no idea what the Wii version is like, or much about the Wii period, so its hard to say. Assuming its similar enough to the 360/PS3 version, story and gameplay wise, I'd say so. Also depending on how much you're willing to pay. But buying used at Gamestop gives you a week in which you can return it, or it used to anyways--you could look into that option.

I just know Wii versions are often pretty different from the other consoles versions, so I have no idea--maybe youtube gameplay?

i wasn't even aware a wii version of AC existed. as for now, my sister bought The Conduit and it's supposedly the best FPS on the wii as of now, which is impressive for a Wii title. i'll try it out later.

Thanks Werda. Tried on youtube and couldn't find any better than a fake Wii ad, so I guess we'll have to rent it and see. The other versions seem really cool, even for the first, but the sequel seems like pure eyecandy. I'll have to see if they'll have a PC version our machines here can handle.

I would REALLY like to recommend DEAD SPACE for all you sci-fi fans. OMG it's amazing. If you like the Alien films or the Doom videogame series, you'll enjoy the story. It's scarier then most horror games I've played too... really one heck of an experience! I had a hard time playing in the dark, haha.

To Resident Evil 4 fans, it plays very similarly control wise, but I'd have to say it does it better (you can walk and shoot).
PLUS the main character, Isaac Clark is VERY Boba like... you don't see his face until the very end of the game, he wears a pretty awesome armor (RIG) and unique helmet, and appears a bit stoic & remains silent (doesn't have single line of dialogue, lol).

AWESOME AMAZING GAME PLAY IIIIIIIT!!!
