A friend and I got into a discussion about this. (Friend if you are lurking get on here as your opinion is valued *cough*MA*cough*). As you can tell we were going on about who was better Batman or Superman, then eventual it degenerated into a Marvel/DC discussion. I can't remember his exact stand. So what do the rest of the people think? Marvel and it's down to earth Superheroes? Or DC and it's true classics. Post your opinions here and please let us know your thoughtful opinions, instead of just "Marvel" or "DC". If say neither than tell us why or what other one you prefer?
Myself, I have to go with Marvel. DC does have some cool ones like Batman (who is perhaps the most hardcore person ever to walk the face of the Earth), and Superman and the rest of the JL. Bt my favourite Marvel characters run deep through the entire Marvel Universe. From the major hitters like Wolverine, Spider-man, Hulk, Thor, and Cap, to the less known but equally brilliant people such as Deadpool, Luke Cage, Cable and the list goes on.
Oh and as a sidenote if mods feel this should be in Role-Playing then don't even bother letting me know your moving it. (After you give your opinion of course.)

I do love DC, but my favorite villains and superheroes are from Marvel: Ironman and Venom. So Im going to have to side with Marvel. But yes, DC is classic and you gotta love the classics.
I am a Role Playing Gamer, like my father before me.
DC is classic, but it doesn't get any more classic than Captain America. His comics were during WW2. Supes might have been around then, but I'm not sure. I like Batman a lot (4 days till Dark Knight!), but Marvel has so many crazy cool guys, like (some Sev and Val mentioned) Spiderman, Iron Man, Hulk, Venom, Deadpool, Cable, Silver Surfer, Magneto, Abomination, Wolverine, Punisher, Electro, Carnage, Cyclops, Thor, and a bunch of guys who are pretty much invincible, like Galactus, Thanos, Destroyer armor, Odin, etc. (I know they are not all completely invincible though). Anyway, for me, it's Marvel hands down.
Batman is my alltime favorite DC hero, But Im gonna have to say Marvel.
DC does have Batman, but it also has Robin and Superman. Come on!
Marvel has Deadpool, Wolverine, Venom, Spiderman, Carnage, a standalone ALICE COOPER comic, an ALICE COOPER series, Bullseye, the Taskmaster, Cloak and Dagger, etc.
Yeah Marvel has Spiderman, Ironman, X-Men, Hulk, Daredevil, Fantastic 4, Captain America........The list goes on.

new MK game.
MK V.S. DC
The characters I like from DC are Batman, Joker, Killer Croc, Scarecrow, 2 Face, and Robin.
The characters I like from Marvel are Venom, Spiderman, Iron Man, Iron Monger, and Abomination.
It's a tough one for me so I'm gonna have to say.........DC. If Venom didn't exist, I would like the DC characters better than the remaining Marvel characters.
MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE 2 has been announced officially, although I was aware of the character roster for awhile before. And as far as Marvel comics that don't have to do with Earth 616, but rather ours, Marvel has Halo comics. MASTER CHIEF PWNS EVERYONE! Sorry. I had to. And, now, I will say this is probably one of the best movie trailers in every way: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=34157215 I love it. Cannot wait to see it.
Marvel used to also have Star Wars comics.

Yeah I just heard! At first I was super excited, then i heard that theyre not going to have fatalities... I couldnt believe it. That is what made MK so unique and horrifically addictive and fun. That is just stupid... Apparently the guy behind DC said that he didnt want the DC characters portrayed in death scenes.

I don't know why this awesome topic died, but I realized that I should search for it when I almost posted "Wolverine would pwn anyone from DC" in the SW vs. DC topic. If you had this team from Marvel:Wolverine, Hulk, Deadpool, and Silver Surfer, you could beat any four man team from DC. No question.

The 'good guys' of DC are the only ones without fatalities, last I heard.
Stupid. But don't they have some sort of alternate thing to fatalities? I heard something about that can't remember if it was true though.

I'm a very avid comic book reader and I have to say that I've always preferred DC and Dark Horse over Marvel mainly because of the quality of the stories. All the Marvel series I collected in the past I ended up letting go because the stories always seemed too campy for some reason, except for Punisher War Journal. Of course, that's also the reason I quit collecting Superman a while back. A couple years after the "Death and Return of Superman story arcs, the Superman comics started getting pretty campy. Always fighting with a new villain, fighting with a new villain and no real stories that fleshed out the characters much. Reminded me of why I stopped collecting Marvel. Dark Horse and DC Vertigo have done a really good job fleshing out characters in their stories, while still having some bad guy showdowns. DC has been doing a fairly good job with a lot of their titles that last several years. I heard that the writing on the Superman titles has gotten considerably better, but now I have my "list" of ones I only get now, just because comics are so expensive these days. I remember when I started getting really heavy into comics, around 1991, I used to get every DC and DC Vertigo title they had for almost five years. Then, finally I had to start cutting back because it got too expensive. Of course, getting a discount from the comic book store if you get over so many books helped, too. But, what I used to get for about $150 a month in comics in the day would cost me over $500 now. So, you see why you have to cut back some. That's the price you pay for making the paper in the comics all fancy now. Of course, over time, they don't bleed into each other any more either. But when a comic book goes from $1.25 to $3.50 an issue. Man, that adds up after a while. You certainly can't call those guys "starving artists" anymore.
"I'm just a simple Fan, trying to make my way in the universe."
Marvel is more realistic and believable. Im not into all that invincibility crap. :[
its as simple as that. I buy at least 7 comics a month and its either Darkhorse, or Marvel.

I can see what you mean with Marvel being a bit campy. Especially with this whole one more Day thing going on with Spider-man. A new villain every 3 issues. No offense but that to me is not Spider-man. Spider-man is Goblin and Otto and Brock. Now that Brock is now the Anti-Venom he has returned of a sorts.
DC has Batman.
Batman is my third favorite Franchise behind Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean
I like Marvel a lot, but I've never been much of a comic reader, so I dunno.
HAHA! Topic necromancy lives! The only characters who could put up a fight from DC are Batman, Superman, Bane, Killer Croc, and Superman villains. Everyone else sucks. Joker and TwoFace just die from anything, they're ordinary humans, physiologically. The Avengers, Defenders, X-men, Weapon X, Secret Avengers, and random aliens will pwn anyone. Especially with Wolverine. Just put kryptonite on his claws, and you've got a champion.
MM, you clearly have never heard of Watchmen.
While I totally would vote for Marvel (sorry, but Marvel has much more cooler characters than DC), DC has one character that stomps out all: Dr. Manhattan. He is a real one-man team.
Absolutely Marvel. DC has Batman and Joker, but beyond that, none that I know I really like.
Marvel has Spidey and Ironman, who is possibly my favorite hero. The movie was incredible.
Superman is way too powerful to be interesting. If you're going to have a character that powerful, at least make him funny, like Hancock.
--Captain Dynamic--
I have to go with DC. It's what I grew up on, and in my opinion, has cooler characters. Really, I'm not a big fan of Marvel. Their movies are great, but I could never really get into the comics. the DC universe (or multiverse, as I should say) is very elaborate and has a very wide range of stories, never leaving me bored.
Plus, DC has Watchmen, and that was just downright amazing.
Marvel has Deadpool. End of story. Dr. Manhattan would fall before the awesomeness that is Deadpool. End of story.
But since Watchmen was only a small series, so who knows how he would do against gods like Thor or Ares.
Although I stick to my Deadpool theory. Who has by the way been confirmed for MUA2. His picture was on the promotion for MUA2 in the Wolverine game.

sweet. deadpool is pretty awesome, I think I like wolverine better though.
Well...Marvel has Ghost Rider, Deadpool.
As I see it Marvel's Atlantis is cooler, Namor the Submariner is more interesting than DC's Aquaman. With wings or not...Although Black Manta is still one of my favorite villains.
Then again it's Batman that got me into comics in the first place. Can't beat his villains.
The new Ghost Rider arc should be awesome though. *Spoiler Tag*
The two Ghost Riders (Danny Ketch and Johnny Blaze) protecting the antichrist so that the angel who just took over heaven can't rewrite the bible.
DC kinda screwed itself with Countdown and Amazons Attack. (I don't read comics much but I do read wiki's and such. Check out Atop the 4th Wall if you like comics either way)
Cool fact though, Archie's The Shield predates Captain America. Making him the first American themed super-hero.
