I think the spirit of Star Wars was that it could be enjoyed by all ages, not just those over the age of 13.  Not only did it appeal to the older generation, but it was clean enough for children.

And it's a nice clean, good-feeling refresher from mindless gore and violence and action.

Yeah, yeah, but the TaunTaun scene was gross, not gory, and it didn't show much when Ponda Baba lost his arm.  And an arm is different than a head.

Has anyone ever seen Mace's expression after he kills Jango? My brother paused it one time and it looks like he's confused or something.... I don't know what it means, but it's worth a look.

Mace looked like he was about to throw up.  Anyway, i read this one book that said when Mace swung the fatal blow, it was an accident that he cut off his head and his actual intention of the swing was to deflect Jango's next attack.

I don't think it was that much of an accident. As a Jedi (and one so *cough* powerful) he'd be able to sense how far away Jango is and when Jango's next shot would be and therefore would know what distance to stand and when to swing his saber.

That makes perfect sense. But that still doesn't explain the confused look on Mace's face.

Let's face it, they should have had Anakin decapitate Jango. Anakin was so damn annoying that a little more growling in his direction wouldn't have hurt.

I think Mace is somewhat misguided, but not evil. He didn't have premeditated plans to decapitate Jango, it happened during battle. He could not have known what Jango's next move was for sure. He probably felt the hostility through the Force from Jango and possibly overestimated Jango's attack.

No, its good that they didn't have had Anakin decapitate him, they couldn't have.  Anakin would not have stood much of a chance against Jango.

I thought it was sort of an evil expression, but who knows?  And I hope it was on purpose, because it would a cruel twist of fate for both Fetts to "die" because of accidents.

Well, either way, it was anaccident that Jango's jetpack wouldn't work when he needed it.

I agree with Spidey. Plus, there wasn't much action with Mace in it. And Jango should be happy that he was defeated by the 2nd best master jedi, and with a good fight too.

I think they sorta wanted Mace to have more of a role in the movie, thus let him kill Jango. I also agree that Anakin wouldn't be strong enough to kill Jango so they had to use someone higher in force ability and at least a Jedi Master....ya know. It would be a total outrage if he got killed by a stupid padawan.

Well, I certainly wouldn't have outraged.  I would have inraged. Unraged.  Rejoiced.  There we go.  After all I've seen about Jango, a padawan could've (should've) taken him out.  I would have laughed harder than I did when Mace killed him.  (Not dissing Windu, of course)

Although it is sad to see Jango Fett, the most notorious and dangerous Mandalorian bounty hunter in the galaxy, die by Mace Windu which is one of the best Jedi on the council.  Jango was an enemy.  He was Dooku's bodyguard and almost killed Obi Wan.  Before the jedi started fighting, Mace probably chose to hold his lightsaber to Jango's throat becasue Jango would have killed Mace if he did it to someone else.  He used his flamethrower on Mace to try to kill him.  Also Jango can't live forever.  When Mace killed Jango, I think that Mace was probably thinking that he wished he could have avoided killing Jango but he had no other option so he had to die.

May 28, 2006 5:28 pm #

Before the Jedi started fighting, Mace had a choice. Kill Dooku, end the Clone Wars before they started, save the galaxy, rid the galaxy of one of it's biggest villians.... but in return he'd die, which for a Jedi "there is no death, there is the Force", so that's no problem for him. Instead he chose to threaten Jango for no real apparant reason other than to save his own life.

so true. mace wanted to live her was looking out for himslef not for the rest.

Also, when Mace exited the cave/tunnel, I think Jango was closest to him at that time.  The other leaders of the C.I.S. with Dooku at the time (Geonosian leader, Trade Fed. leaders) didn't matter too much.  They weren't as big of a threat as Jango was.

May 29, 2006 8:10 am #

Mace isn't really a very good Jedi.

He deserved toi be killed by Palpatine.
Anakin was telling him exactly what the Jedi Code tells Mace to do and MAce didn't listen.

The bastard porbably smashed someone's car up too.

i do think that mace kept his lightsaber at Jango's throat because he was the most dangerous and unpredictable of the bunch. He must have figured that dooku does more talking than fighting and of course the other seperatist  leaders are bantha poodoo....so that only leaves Jango Fett, one who ALMOST killed one of the better jedis - Obi-Wan. It would have thrilled me soo much if Jango had gotten mace a little better with the flamethrower so that he ran around the arena shrieking and screaming as he burnt to death. (sw ep. 2 is now rated r....lol)

But Mace coulda just lopped off Paply's Hands.
Which would have stopped him using Force Lightning.
Had Yoda or Some other powerful Jedi remove him from the force and then have him stand trial for his crimes.

That not only follows the Jedi Code but also would have prevented the Revenge Of The Sith against the Jedi Order (See what I did there, I incorporated the title, heh heh? Pretty Cool Huh?

Exactly.  And I htink most of us agree that Jango could probably beat Windu in better circumstances, so it wasn't a very embarassing defeat.

Mace Windu sucks. I believe if this REALLY happend (in real life that is, not being scripted) Jango would have owned Mace Windu so hard.

But meh, what's done is done... we still have Boba Fett...

Ok, get this...

How cool would it have been that Jango actually knew about the upcomming attack? (Maybe he has an inside man...)

And the Jango that was killed was actually one of his clones made to look like him with the scars and whatnot...?

And once the battle was over, our young Boba Fett grieved over his *father* when the real Jango comes down and tells him *Son...You can't be a bounty hunter without your head* and they both do a corny laugh...

But seriously, think about it. Would be pretty cool! =)

I hate Mace not only cause he killed Jango, but because of how people view him. They see him as being "badass", as being "cool" as being "the ultimate goodguy", when in fact he's a disgrace to his own order. There he is, lightsaber over a Sith. The one Jedi who was the most rebellious, the one most likely to fall to the dark side, the one breaking all the rules... even HE is saying Mace shouldn't kill the Sith. Does Mace do what is right? Does Mace do what he knows a true Jedi should? Does Mace decide to set a good example for the hundreds of Jedi looking up to him? Does Mace decide to act his part as one of the rulers of the Jedi? No, Mace decides to go Dark and attemps to kill the Sith. Mace is the one who nearly went Dark several times before. Mace is the one who created Vapaad, a Dark Side fighting form. And everyone insists he's still the ultimate goodguy? They claim, "Dude, he's uber powerful", boasting and reveling in your own power is a part of the Dark Side.
And also, having Mace in SW is like someone graffiteing on a famous classic artpeice. It doesn't belong and shouldn't be. To continue the flow of the art, the flow of SW, Mace must not be there because he disrupts the tranquel beauty of SW. SW and Pulp Fiction are two completely different movies, if he wants to be "badassy" he should have stuck to shooters without plots.
And how did he get his role anyway? We have thousands of fans who would gladly pay to be in SW if even for a second under costume and makeup. SJ randomly goes, "Hey, it might be cool to be in SW, hehe" and suddenly, BLAM he's head of the Jedi Council. WTF? GL goes, "Choose a lightsaber color, green or blue." SJ goes, "Can I have purple?" GL goes, "What part of green or blue don't you understand?" SJ goes, "PURPLE!" GL goes, "...ok, purple." So how'd he become a brain washer? He obviously is a brain washer if anyone likes this disgusting excuse for a punk Jedi that doesn't belong anywhere near Star Wars.

Come on!If you don't remember Mace Windu was a respected Jedi on par with the venerable Yoda, Mace Windu was a senior member of the Jedi High Council. His wisdom and experience were legendary, and his words carried great weight.

In the later years of the Republic, Windu spent most of his time in the Jedi Temple of Coruscant. He regularly conferred with Yoda and the ten other members of the Council, contemplating the very nature of the Force and the affairs of the Jedi Knights.

Windu was well schooled in Jedi philosophy and history. He knew of the ancient prophecy of the Chosen One who would return balance to the Force and...the danger of that!

Yes, I do remember all that. Do those high acts redeem his darkness? Shouldn't a person of that status be a better example to little Jedi looking up to him? Does the Council really want hundreds of little Jedi kids running around acting just like him? Having all the status in the galaxy doesn't make you the best person in the galaxy as well.

It's just another reason the Jedi had to be destroyed and restarted. More and more Jedi were becomming like Mace, and the sad part was that none of them realized it until it was too late.

I still don't agree.S.J is just the actor, not Mace Windu....That means that if you have a problem with S.J,Mace doesn't have to get all this...He was at the High Jedi Council in 28!He IS a good person, just strict.Mace was too Jedi, and surely he wished peace and prosperity to all people...
