Topic: Fett's voice

Hi all. I am reading the stormtrooper profile on Wookieepedia
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Stormtroopers
and it says that by 0 BBY 1/3 of the STs were clones. That means that one of every three guys in the white armor should sound like a Kiwi when they talk right? Not to mention the STs in dress uniform. I mean it just seems weird that NO ONE in episodes 4-6 originally had that accent in the whole empire. At least anyone with screen time.

I hate to always be negative but these things just keeping jumping out at me and I can't get them out of my head.
Also, does anyone else think the original Boba Fett voice was more menacing or is it just me? I am sure the group has touched on this at one time or another but since I am on the topic of Fett's voice I though I would ask.

Any thoughts?

The original Fett voice was wonderful! I loved it. I used to rewind the movie over and over and over and over and over just to hear his beautiful voice speaking in such a lovely way. Then they go and destroy it and I can hardly stand or bear to watch any part where he's speaking. In fact it's become a reflex to mute the movie while he's talking.

As for the stormtroopers, I don't know. I'm just assuming it's the ones who were silent that were clones. And besides which, not all clones were Jango Clones exactly. They started making clones of other people. Say some General has a worthless brother. As a present to this general they'd make a clone of the brother and turn it into a stormtrooper. So not all clones would sound like Jango by the time of ANH.

From what I heard there were NO Jango clones still in service by the time of the original movies, with the possible exception of Vader's 501'st *which I personall challenge after having seen then get beat by teddy bears in Ep. VI...and the troopers you hear don't have the 'Kiwi' voice either.

And yes, the original voice kicked butt.

I don't watch the DVD versions cuz of the voice change...I stick to my good old VHS when it comes to Ep. V

Yes, clones of Jango were pretty much gone, except for the 501st (thanks Ralin). All other soldiers of the Empire Army were clones of other people (those people served as well), which allowed them to have such a huge force.

Don't mean to get picky here, and I don't know really what source is considered official but, again, on the Wookieepedia page I site in the first post is states:

"By 0 BBY, about one-third of the stormtroopers originated from the Fett DNA, though most of them were recruits.[3]"

I'm not sure really what to make of this statement given the posts above.

Technically, an accent is not even genetic so I guess it does not matter but in episodes 1-3 it is made out as if the accent comes with the cloning process so in the SW universe maybe accents are genetic. Anyway, I'm still stuck with source validity. If Wookieepedia is correct then more STs should have had the Kiwi accent.

Any more thoughts?

I just checked starwars.com and they don't have jack on the history of the STs.

So I am wondering where everyone is getting their info? I don't follow the games and the comics and such  so I am lost about that stuff.
Where are you guys getting the idea that all of the Fett clones were gone by the original movies?

So according to this the clones were around during episodes 1-3

Wookieepedia is not the best source for correct information, I try to avoid going there if at all possible. My info that I posted I got from an article in an old Insider issue where someone (rick mccallum???) was saying that.

Also, in books and comics, I know Tales isn't usually considered good canon, but there is one comic where an old Jango clone was found during the OT era. And in a few books it talks of regular non-clone recruits, such as Davin Felth in Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina, and the stormtroopers in Allegiance. There's not much mention of Jango clones in the OT era, as far as I'm aware, other than the one I said up there.

Wookiepedia is not the best source for info, no, but it has a large Data base, which is useful sometimes....
Also the clones had been around sence episode 1 but they where in the Process of growing after the order, just because they where not in the 1st episode, doesn't mean that they where not around.

They weren't around at the time of TPM. Jango and Tyranus didn't even meet till a month or so after TPM. In the game Bounty Hunter Roz was saying she has a Toydarian friend on Tatooine who "lost everything in a podrace last season". This is hinting at Watto losing Anakin.

Good lord whats with all the one word posts. Miba, just because anyone can edit something doesnt mean its all wrong, its only when you get people who think its fun to put fake stuff in there. Anyways, i use wookiepedia for info and pictures on somethings.

I knew a guy who was friends with the Wookiepedia guys and sometimes helped them out and he told me all about how they're always arguing and changing things on each other. Now this kid practically worshiped them and the site and was obsessive about it. Even he finally got fed up with it and left. I would trust the actual Wikipedia before I'd trust Wookieepedia. I admit I haven't really read through a lot of their entries. But I'm certainly not the only person who thinks Wookieepedia is awful.

And besides, I don't even really like anything that allows people to edit something important like that. You end up with all the wrong information. I was at Wiki once and read Boba's entry and, OMG, it was atrocious! I decided I would clean it up and set it right. They changed it back on me saying I was wrong even though I knew I was right. For example, one thing they did was they claimed Boba had been born before TPM. When in fact Jango doesn't even MEET Dooku till after TPM. Think of the poor newbie who reads the entry and then thinks he knows all about Boba then imagine he goes somewhere and is talking and says something about when Boba was born before TPM and someone corrects him. Imagine the poor, hurt newbie who thinks "No, they're wrong and I'm right I read it at an "official" source." And then he tells everyone he knows his misinformation and then in 50 years there's going to be very few people who actually remember what's real, and soon, those too will go away. All because one stupid site just HAD to make to where complete idiots could edit it.

Well, when you consider that almost everything in Star Wars can be argued and debated, it's no surprise that there would be problems keeping the "facts" strait in a place like the SW Wiki.  The problem with it is that many of the articals will show one side of a subject when it can really be a subject of strong debate...on top of the fact that the info very well could be faulty no matter which side it's trying to show.

I like to use it for pics and getting a general idea of what's happening with a subject, but I don't take anything I read there as solid facts

I mean just for certain things, nothing like big important character or anything.

That Temuera Morrison guy sure does phone it in for Boba Fett's voice in The Empire Strikes Back doesn't he?

ctxboy1981, it does seem to go in a different direction than the original "Clint Eastwood" approach.

I'm tellin' ya the original voice of Boba Fett is perfect! :-) The late, absolutely great Jason Wingreen did an amazing and spectacular job voicing Boba Fett! :-)
