The lines are a different story, but most of it was proffessional canon.

Just becasue it was cannon (and I dont care what lucas says: I do not consider the character convos to be cannon) doesnt mean it wasnt targeted at a younger audience.

The lines for the characters were corny and stupid...somthing only a five year old would find really entertaining/funny.

It seems there's a lot of that going on everywhere.... And this is only a brief example.

ANH:
"Oops, I think we took a wrong turn."
"One thing's for sure, we're all going to be a lot thinner."
"What a wonderful smell you've discovered."
"I use them for smuggling. I never thought I'd be smuggling myself in them. This is ridiculous."
"Where did you dig up that old fossil?"
"Boring conversation anyway. Luke, we're gonna have company!"
"Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?"
"Will someone get this big walking carpet out of my way?"

ESB:
"It's a good thing you don't taste very good." (I know it's not in some versions...)
"Why, you stuck up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf-herder."
"Mudhole? Slimy? My home this is!"
"I'd just as soon kiss a Wookiee."
"I don't know where you get your delusions, laser brain."
"Would it help if I got out and pushed?"

ROTJ:
"I''m rather embarrassed, General Solo, but it appears that you are to be the main course at a banquet in my honor."
"When 900 years old look as good you will not, hm?"
"I think my eyes are getting better. Instead of a big dark blur, I see a big bright blur."
"Just what I always wanted. "

Han Solo: Together again, huh?
Luke: Wouldn't miss it.
Han Solo: How we doin'?
Luke: Same as always.
Han Solo: That bad, huh?

C-3PO: I do believe they think I am some kind of god.
Han Solo: Well, why don't you use your divine influence and get us out of this?
C-3PO: I beg your pardon General Solo, but that just wouldn't be proper.
Han Solo: Proper?
C-3PO: It's against my programming to impersonate a deity.

She's a Togruta, probably from the Togruta homeworld of Shili.
Her background is probably the same as any other Jedi; she was taken to the temple when she was a baby and raised as a normal Jedi youngling, specifics might come later but that's the basics of it probably.
No.
No.
No.

Seeing as Anakin wasn't promoted to Master it's impossible that Ahsoka even survives to the end of the tv series, let alone makes it to Order 66, Vader, or the rank of Master.

Good point. I'm just glad she dies. I don't like her much. If she was hardcore like Shaak Ti then mabe I would like her more.

I think she was a natural and creative with her saber skills and with the force. Plus, I believe Miba is right...............almost every Star Wars movie had corny lines in them. That doesnt mean it cant be a decent movie. In ANH, R2D2 and C3PO were considered the comedy relief of the story ( and they've said some stupid stuff). So if you really observe, you can tell that its not just in THIS movie.

Exactly. She brings shame to her race. Togruta are naturally fierce, not whiny like Ashoka (close enough) is. Shaak Ti IS hardcore ( and I love her for it)!

I don't think CW is entirely a kids movie, nor is it entirely adult either. I laugh at some of those lines, whether its out of ridiculousness or actual comedic skill I don't know ( but i think its the first reason).

Personally I am choosing to view most of this as non canon. If he had chosen different Jedi to focus the story on then I might think differently, but Skywalker's exploits have been fully told, thus making this one with a Padawan NOT possible a long with the rest of the story. And I think they are truly setting Ashoka to die because there is that one line Yoda says to Obi Wan as Anakin and her are getting on a transport about Anakin being prepared to lose/ let her go.

As for the Mandalorianization of the GAR and Clones, I think that was held mostly to the commando program, which was headed up by actual Mandalorians. I don't think that the comics are 100% canon, but this is an old argument over what is canon and what is not. I have a hierarchy as what is.... Film ( excluding the CW), Books, then comics. And it depends on what in the book works with the movies and so forth. Its complicated... but I digress...... I don't think that ALL the Mandalorians were killed in that battle. A LOT sure, but not ALL. I'm sure some would have survived or chosen not to fight. And 20 years is a long time, giving younger Mando's time to mature.  I think that as humans the clones craved belonging and culture, so when any scrap, as say Dha Werda comes to them they would embrace it fully.

I haven't even seen it, but I've seen a commentary with clips, and there is no way clone troopers were that individualized. You don't have much individuality when you live and fight with hundreds of others just like you. Nor were they engineered to have much free will. The Commandos, who had considerably more free will, didn't even go as far as died hair or tattoos, etc.

Well, I hope they show how Ahsoka dies at the end of the series. They probably won't kill her off, though. She'll just get lost on some planet somewhere and they can't find her.

Nope, you're wrong Miba. Shaak Ti has officially died three times.

1. Beginning of Revenge of the Sith, aboard Invisible Hand, due to a lightsaber in the throat by General Grievous (episode 3 deleted scene).
2. The Revenge of the Sith novel, at the Jedi Temple when Anakin invades, from a lightsaber duel with Skywalker.
3. In The Force Unleashed, by codename Starkiller who was assigned to find and kill Shaak Ti by Darth Vader during the Purge. This is the canon death.

September 14, 2008 11:28 am #

I was already aware of Shaak Ti in the Force Unleashed, sad as it is. But that's the thing. We all know that the Jedi are being killed and hunted down, so it is enviable. I feel her death there brings much more honor to a glorious character, than either of her other "supposed" deaths. Isn't that the best any of can have? A honorable glorious death? If only I should be so lucky.

Sorry, but that's not true. Lucas said that Shaak Ti's demise in the ROTS novel and in the ROTS deleted scenes isn't canon, but her death in TFU is.

Yes. all the above are right. I also like this death the best out of the other ones. I have read the TFU graphic novel and the way she dies (I will not give it away) is much better than being executed by Grievous or Vader. She plays a bigger role than before as well. And seeing as she is one of the few jedi I like I am glad she gets some show (or should I say game) time other then the clone wars cartoon (witch I loved her in btw.)
You gotta admit she's cute.

I already knew about the deleted scene death, but as that was cut from the movie and was different in the book... And I was under the impression that books are higher canon than games. And if Lucas really said that provide me with a link to starwars.com where he's saying that, and if he's saying books are lower forms of canon these days we really should update the rots novel and re-release it.

Lucas has nothing to do with books most decisions in books..  But he did approve this game.  And I assume the escape of one of the Jedi was one of the ideas they would have passed by him.

That's dumb to not have the novel canon...Lucas has made several mistakes and inconsistencies in the movies, but saying the books were non-canon, then why are we still reading them?

no the books are still canon, just Shaak Ti's death in the novel/deleted scene are not. i think Lucas was just trying to figure out a way to have her killed off, and felt that TFU was best. if you ask me, her deaths in Episode III were t3h suck (could've been better).

September 15, 2008 1:02 pm #

So like I said, he should issue a recall on the novel, make an announcement on sw.com (I have yet to find a quote of him saying all this stuff he supposedly said), and then re-release the novel. I doubt very much he said that she should die in TFU and the novel is out. It would be very stupid.

Well this game dident exsist during RotS so GL didnt really think about it. But now this game concept came up and he decided to kill her off this way because its cooler/better.

And are you saying they should re-release a novel just because one little part doestn fit with the rest? considering that the vast (VAST) majority of people arent going to REBUY a book just because one part isint cannon. So the money to fix it would be far greater than the the money that would be made.

Spoilers aren't fun, they are evil.

And I would not consider someone DYING to be a minor part of a book! Death is a very big thing. I would most certainly rebuy the book.

Edited so as not to post twice in a row.

I have the game and would like to say that this "Shaak Ti" is Shaak Ti in name only. She doesn't look, act, or speak like the real Shaak Ti.

Anyways, I cant wait until they reveal the death of little Asohka. :D I cant wait until Darth Vader plunges his lightsaber into Asohka's little body and watch her fall to never get up. I REALLY want her to die by her own master in Order 66, it would reveal the true darkness of Anakin's pain and connection to the darkside.
Plus, I wouldnt mind ceasing that annoying being off of Star Wars. :D
She gets to battle Greivous in the show.............which will be really cool. I finally get to hear what Plo Koon and Kit Fisto sound like as well.

Replays will be Sunday at the same time, for those who missed the episodes.

Oh, Sunday nights are even worse! I get weekends off so I could have technically messed up my sleep for a weekend, but Sunday nights are horrible enough without staying up late on purpose. Yes, cause of time zones that would mean they'd start at 7. But by time they're done and I'm able to fall asleep it'd probably be 8:30 or 9 or so. I'm hoping someone taped it and put it on youtube or something. It's my only chance of actually seeing the shows. Why couldn't they air at 4 or 6 or something? I really, really hope this is not a normal thing for it to air at 9. Children will never get to see it. When I was a kid I never stayed up past about 8 or so. I remember one christmas eve I was so excited I was able to stay up till 10.

Dont bother Miba. I saw the episodes yesterday. If you didnt like the movie, youre sure as hell not going to like the show. I honeslty thought it was trash. It would have been fine had it NOT been star wars. Just another kids show. But i feel like its really lowering a film series where laser sword cut people in half and split their skulls open and giant rancors that rip people apart and eat them. Its just...stupid. For what its worth, the show does have its moments at times.

which kind of animation for the clone wars did you prefer?

i kinda liked the 2-D aspect of the old one
more stylized.

I saw the first two episodes and shall review episode 1 now and 2 later.

Review: Epiosde 1- Ambush

I really liked the first episode, it was way better than the movie which i would give 45% to. My favorite 2 movies are Revenge of the Sith and The Empire Strikes Back so i am a prequel fan-boy and an original trilogy fan-boy, or rather a saga fan-boy as i ultimately put the trilogies on par. Being as i LOVE the prequels as much as the originals i am not as critical of the TV as some are.

Anyway as for the Episode it was really good IMO. The animation was excellent(for a TV show) and i liked the plot. I liked the touch of Yoda's theme from ESB in it. I loved how they made the clones more than just drones.

However the droid jokes were really bad. i cringe whenever i hear that droid leader saying he got premoted as he is destroyed and all they stuff like, "Hey , it's my programming" was just corny.

And Yoda's dialogue bugged me a bit. Back in the 80's it was charming and they managed to keep the charm of it through the prequels but the Clone Wars movie just made Yoda's dialect overuse.
So ultimatly i would give Clone Wars Episode 1
6/10

The droids were terrible.  Just watched it on surfthechannel.  Episode 1 only.  The stormtrooper effect was of course everpresent.  THe SBDs not being able to hit a clone from about 20 feet away (my guess) is ridiculous.

And Yoda's actions were deus ex machina if I ever saw one.  Of course with our pathetic BDs jumping in front of an entire column of infantry and heavies is no problem.  But of course Yoda knows he can't die so his behaviour can be as reckless as possible.

All in all I wasn't that impressed with it and I feel the entire season is going to have the same theme of that of something that is kid-friendly with bad guys being portrayed as bumbling idiots who are incapable.

On the plus side I do enjoy the stylized War Time Propoganda/ summary going on at the beginning.  A neat way to draw you in.

Here's the link if anyone missed the episodes.

i thought the first 2 episodes of "clone wars were fun. they r aimed for a younger demo,
but i like the band of brothers approach to the clone troops. and the opening being similar to an older world war

i agree that the continuing angle of having the droid army as comic relief is dumb- but if thats the worst i think we r in for a pretty entertaining show.

droids are the only dislike. change the voices (back to TPM voices), make them less stupid, show will do fine. also, i think the clones should be more of comic-relief as well. serious and a good one-liner every now and then would be good.
