Topic: Avatar Requests

Ok, as soon as I post this I shall make the avatars. :D

And as for how to make them, what type of art program do you have? I use Gimp. But I also have PaintshopPro9 (which I can't use anymore cause I have linux now). Anyway, I think even paint could do for less-fancy avatars. What I do is open the image. Then I get the "select square" tool and square off what I want the avatar to have in it. Like yours, TW, had that "image by so and so" at the bottom, but I didn't want that so I didn't include it on my square. Then I crop it down so that only what was in my square remains. Then, I go to "resize" or "scale". And here, for the BFFC's avatars, you'd type 60 into "widtht". Then it should automatically tell you what the height will be. Let's say it says 67. We don't want that, so don't actually resize yet, cancel it. Now, if the height was going to be 67, and the width 60, you want to get rid of some height, so you crop it again, taking off a small section on the top, bottom, or both. Now you go back and try to resize again. Let's say now that width will be 60 and the height will be 56. No, now ithe image will be too wide. So don't resize, go back and crop again to take some off one side, the other, or both. Once you get it to say "60" on both height and width, go ahead and resize.  Now, if you crop too much by accident and the image is a lot less than what you wanted, then go back to when it was bigger and try again. (which means while you're cropping, don't save) Now that it's resized, it might be blurry, or too dark. That's when you mess with the sharpness, unsharp mask, contrast, and brightness. Maybe even the tint if the image is too red or green or something. Some art programs allow you to frame the image, so you can do that if you want. As far as I know Gimp doesn't let you frame.

Ok...........first of all I have no experiance, I'm just willing to help. And I dont have Gimp or PaintshopPro9 or anythin like dat. Sorry to disapoint ya. :/

Oh, no disappointment. :) And it's ok about having no experiance, I was a beginner once too. And I'm still not all that good yet. I was just saying what I did do create avatars. I'm sure someone else would be able to explain it better than me, sometimes I'm not good at explaining. If you even have paint you can at least crop and resize, I think.

:) Paint's good for resizing and cropping. It might even have contrast, but I'm not sure since it's been so long since I last used it. And if you have an avatar you need contrasting, sharpening, tinting, whatever, I can do that last little bit for you. And I have nothing against you being on the team. I can't add you to the list in the first post since Kudar did that post. But as far as I'm concerned, welcome to the team. There's not really much other info to give, I think. But if you have any questions, I can answer them. In fact, if you want, you can do the Commander Cody avatar. If not, I can do it. :)

And, as for the green avatar of the video game guy (I never played the game, don't know his name), here it is:

And again, save these avatars to your computer, no hotlinking, cause I do delete them after a while.

:D Thanks. All I did was what I said above. A bit of cropping, a resize, then I sharpened it, and upped the contrast.

Sure, you can help too. :) I sent TW a few links to some free art programs, if he wants to share them with you. Or just go to downloads.com and then image editor into the search. I'm fairly certain that site can be trusted. For simple resizing and stuff, a great program I've downloaded to every computer I've had for the last four years has been Irfanview. And I think the program is fairly small too so it won't take up a lot of room.

I tried to include more of his saber, but when I did that he ended up so small you couldn't tell who he is. And it was np. :)

I just figured out how to creat TONS  of avatars....my problem was...i was saving them as Bitmap Images....and that made them waaaay too big to put on here. Saving them as JPEG images really helpes...so now i can create anything anyone asks me to...yesssss

Anyway, yay! Now we have more people who can make avatars too, so we have more variety. I guess I should have remembered that paint automatically saves as bmp, and that the internet doesn't take those. :P oops

The problem with Atton was the lack of a background, and the problem with Canderous was that the image was so dark.
