The 90-minute animated feature film is going to be in theaters this 15th of August, 2008. This film "will lead the way for a television series will debut in the fall of 2008. The TV series will air on Cartoon Network and TNT." (Source)

In May 2007, we discussed this topic in-depth when the first trailer was released. Boba Fett is not in the trailer.

For this thread to have some lasting resourcefulness -- all of this will change between now, the premiere and thereafter -- here are some notable links:

Maybe just a rehash of the cartoons, or if not that, more about the clone wars. I hope they do a bit about the commandos.

I didn't know it was going to air on TNT. Hardcore. But I just saw the first trailer that aired on the TV today, and saw a cardboard standup of the movie in the theatre just yesterday.

I saw a commercial for it...it doesn't look very good, but I'll still watch it...

The Clone Wars trailer was also in front of The Incredible Hulk, I recall. No one in the audience cheered.

Fett_II, nice link. I'm glad to see Yahoo! Movies cleaned up their act; it's very easy to get those videos playin'.

As for the content of the videos... It's also disappointing that the voices are not the same.

I went to the official site and watched some videos. Apparently Lucas wants to make the clones all different and unique to show the audience that they are real men, not mindless drones. Watch The Clones are Coming video to see what they are doing about that.

I agree about the voices... they should have stayed the same. Voice over work is quite respectable for well known actors these days and can be virtually anywhere the actor is to conform to their schedual. I bet they didn't try hard enought to get them to do it.  Does any one know if Temura did any clone voices? I know he did some vocal work for the RC game so maybe he did some more for TCW.

I saw a few of the commericals they aired on Nickelodeon, and at least some parts or levels seem geared towards the under 15 set. The whole bit with the stupid baby Hutt seems completely pointless in my opinion. But then I have seen other trailers that hightlight more of more intense fighting aspect of the film and those seem quite interesting. Some of the character deveiopment (visually i mean) seems off compared to the others. I don't know why that could be, too many lead animators not showing each other their work?

Unfortunately, and shockingly, the art is done that way on purpose using "new" technology. I guess someone forgot to tell them that stuff was old 15 years ago...

Anyways, I don't like the Huttling idea either. Jabba is stuck a guy and therefore cannot have a kid! He prefers human or humanoid females anyway. So him having a kid is improbable.

Less crazy than you would think. In the Han Solo trilogy (the one that includes Rebel Dawn) it has a male hutt character cycle into a female hutt, so that they can have a huttling. So I believe that they can morph genders, making it physically possible for Jabba to have a huttling. But is it in line with Jabba's nature or character? No I do not think so.

Yeah, Hutts are supposed to do that. Change from guy to girl and then back. To have kids. Except I read somewhere (I think it was the sw.com official database) that Jabba was born mutated to where he was always a guy. And I know he prefers humanoids to Hutts anyway (cause it is possible for Hutts to have kids with each other, just I don't think it happens often? I know it happened in a comic book once), because I also read that the other Hutts think he's gross for his humanoid obsession. So unless he decided that he wanted a kid even if it meant sleeping with another Hutt.... But I'm going to wait and see what they say on it. And unless this Huttling dies in the movie, I've never heard a mention of Jabba's son. And I think I know Jabba's family fairy well.

Yeah, it's kinda how I view the original Clone Wars. Things like the Mace episodes specifically. You could say they were retold through the eyes of that little kid, who, not knowing any better, and being a kid, blew it out of proportion and made Mace into a superhero. Just an example.

No, she has two. I don't think she's a Twi'lek, though, anyway. I think she's the same species as Shaak Ti. Which I can't remember the name of right off.

Well i thought they were supposed to have three. I cant realy remember the name either but it bugs me how they throw in a character who probably wont die, so it makes it odd that she was never mentioned or seen in episode three.

Shes supposed to be a Togruta, which is what Shaak Ti is.  Yes they are supposed to have three. Shaak Ti does, as does every other togruta seen, i e in the comics. In general they are more on the vicious side of things, warriors. This girl, just seems like a whiny weakling. What on earth would make Skywalker choose her as an aprrentice. I say SHE must die. ITs the ONLY way I'll accpet any of this movie as cannon. If not... eh... what can I say. I'll ignore it like I have ignored Splinter of the Minds eye.

I try to wait to resereve judgement untill I see things. I always have, that's why i've gone to see movies that almost everyone pans, but I end up enjoying and vice versa. I make my own mind on things.

Other Clone Wars information that I happened to see. I went to the bookstore yesterday after work and apparently in the wonderuful world of marketing the hell out of something, Karen Traviss wrote the novel adaptation of The Clone Wars.  I don't know if the book will be as good as her others ( I'm thinking No. As i read a page or two, it seemed more simplistic to me.)

she can't die in the movie, it's too soon. but in the tv show, then she can die. but since ani does become vader, it's most likely she gets killed in the purge.

They aren't COMPLETELY real in my opinion. I know that sounds a little cruel, but this is why: they had their emotions tampered with. For example, none of the clones ever question their existence; they don't question anything for that matter. And I know this might sound a little.....inappropiate, but do clones have "the needs of men"? In other words do they need women?....

And about the movie I personally think it might be good, I read somewhere that someone was trying to start a 3 way war between the Republic, the CIS, and the Hutts. That's why Jabba's son was kidnapped.

so apparently the new tv show is to be an expansion and continuation of the old series, and parts of the novel Labyrinth of Evil will be used in this show.

Huh. I wonder why they didn't use Labyrinth of Evil in the old CW then? Seeing as they directly contradicted it in the old CW.

dunno, in the old CW, Genndy Tartakovsky (creator of Dexter's Laboratory and the Powerpuff Girls) pretty much had all control, George has more power over this new series.

Spoiler Warning...
Film Reaction

So i saw Clone Wars last night, and it was really cute. this is not the star wars i love and embrace.  But having said that the characters are fun.  I was hoping to see some cool new bounty hunters since it was a "Jabba-centric" film but there arent any distinguishing villians in Jabbas thrown room, the closest thing to a henchman was an R-7 droid working w/ a sith.
The coolest character IMO was a clone named Rex, and there is some IG droids bumping around a big city Hutts palace...performing their duties w/ moderate competence.
overall- it was light hearted fun. i just hope the live action show is darker, because starwars is aiming for younger and younger demo.

So it might be worth seeing then eh Cujo?

Ok I feel better knowing that the series is in a sense a continuation, and that while this togruta chick may live now, she will not survive as a whole. There are a few options for her. 1.She dies 2. She leaves the jedi order before the events of Labyrinth of Evil or 3. She dies :P If she was trained to the point of Knighthood then the council would have no choice as to make Skywalker a Master. But its clear in RotS that he is not a Jedi Master and the council does not yet see him fit as one yet. The benchmark for becoming a Master is training a padawan to the point of Knighthood. Obi-Wan followed this as he foilows the tradional path. ( I know there are other ways of ataining the rank of Master,  but for arguments sake I'm leaving them out). I'm quite curious how they take it from here.

ps.  Do they any chance address the missing lekku? As a togruta fan that seem to really bug me.

*SPOILERS BELOW*

So, I just got back from it.

1. *sniffle* Without John Williams it... just... isn't SW at all.... I hate the music in this. I want the REAL title song back. I want the REAL credit song back. *sob*

2. Hutts don't speak Basic, and Ziro is just creepy, I could barely stand the scenes with him in it.

3. Padme was pushed into it for no real reason at all, it seemed forced.

4. The battle droids shouldn't have that much personality.

5. I hate the graphics.

6. Ahsoka really was kinda cool. XD

7. I love Asajj Ventress, too.

8. Obi's great as well.

9. Huttlets are omg!socute! I want one! :)

10. I actually liked the Clonetroopers. I wouldn't think I would, what with Traviss's influence. But I did. Rex was awesome.

11. *sigh* I liked it. I really did. I was wrong, this isn't the absolute death of SW. The tv series will be, but so far, the movie is alright.

Oh, and Si, there is no missing lekku. She has three, like she's supposed to. The middle one's just not as long yet, probably cause she's still a kid.

Yeah, it's some guy called Kevin Kiner. It's all drums/flutey/indian type stuff and metal. And the main theme is butchered horribly, they try to make it into a march. 0_0

GL has said that at first he considered the popular music of the time for SW, back in 77. The reason he didn't do that was cause he wanted something timeless, something that wouldn't mark it as being made in a certain era. Said that in Empire of Dreams.

And at the time his choice made sense; to not include metal sounds.  Metal was very new then, it was unknown if it would last.  Also, he _did_ make a few concessions to music of the time.  Lepti Nek anyone?  However, I prefer that to Jedi Rocks.  Lepti Nek was obviously a product of the 70's, but that's no reason to have discarded it.

A few references are ok, an entire soundtrack wouldn't have been. For example, in AOTC you can clearly hear the electric guitars going off at one point. That's fine.

Agreed.  It would be ridiculous if they made a Star Wars movie suddenly with an entirely metal soundtrack.
