I post on another forum and on there I have been taking part in a photography challenge since the start of the year. There is a theme set for each month (by the previous winner) and at the end of the month, there is a poll of all the pictures submitted.
The theme for June was I hate. I won it this month :D I won with this picture :D

Wow, congrats Devil Girl! :D And couldn't have picked a better subject for 'I hate,' who in their right mind doesn't hate flys?

Awe thank you :D
LOL I do not mind them so much if they stay outside and out of my face :D

That's an awesome photo Mrs Fett, congrats! :D
It was like thousands of voices cried out for a sequel and were suddenly silenced...
oh, i hate flies. yesterday, one flew right into my eye while i was at a grad party.
congrats.
quite a contrast of the vibrant flower and the disturbing detail of the fly.
nice capture.
I hate flys...but the bugs in our backyard (not sure what they are) swarm me when I try to mow.....

Awe thank you Mel :D
Eek that must not have been nice Fett_II :(
Awe thank you Cujo :D
Eek that also will not be fun A-A :D

nothing to worry about, i destroyed it in my fingers as i picked it out.
Congrats from one photographer to another! I'm proud! Putting ones work out there is sometimes a hard thing and getting kudos... well that takes the cake! I am happy for you.
"Suggestion: Electrocution works well. Evisceration and Decapitation are also effective, or um, so I've heard."
Not that I am an expert on art or photography, but that is one of the best photographs I've seen by a non-expert. It is extremely well focused, zoomed, centered. And as Cujo already stated, the juxtaposition of beautiful flower and creepy fly makes it even better.
well done.
Hail to the King Baby!!
Now tell me that you "terminated" that fly after the photo shoot... be it fly swat or spray can :P

Oh dear Fett_II LOL not a good day for that fly :D
Thank you Si Titran and Fetterthanyou :D that is so nice of you both to say that :D :D
LOL Mel :D not a chance :D I thanked it for letting me take a picture of it and let it go on its merry way :D I do not mind them so much when they are outside. Also by letting it go it will no doubt get eaten by a bird that I do like to see :D
Edited to add:
I have taken another fly picture recently :D I am really pleased with how it looks :D I love how you can even see pollen on the flys tongue :D

What lens are you using Devil Girl? Camera? I think its a macro lens to get you that level of detail.

I do not have a DSLR yet but I used a Nikon P80 to get that :D ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nikon-Coolpix-P80-Digital-Optical/dp/B0017KP9DA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1215176210&sr=8-1 )
I just got as close as possible to the fly and then I cropped the picture :D I was only a few centimeters away from the fly when I took that :D
I am really looking forward to begin able to get a Nikon D300 at some point though :D ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nikon-D300-Body-Only/dp/B000VDATEI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1215176418&sr=1-1 )

Ah... so you are one of those Nikon people :P I almost bought a Nikon SLR film camera a few years ago, and actually happy that didn't work out and I got my Minolta M5. (Thats how many years ago that was... that was their new thing.)This is why my photo work isn't up here yet. Its old school film and prints. (I happen to love that stuff)
Next week I shall be finally getting my DSLR, my bosses Canon D20. I love that camera. I've used it so much over the last year, it just feels right in my hands. I'll have to track down lenses though :(

ok wow some technical stuff girls... I'll let you two photographers have fun...
:P
Those are lovely photos. I love the colour.
And I love the fact that you captured flies. Those are tough buggers to sneak up on.
Yeah, you can't catch them without........... oh I forgot. You cannae sneak up on them....... ;) :P

LOL :D yes I am one of those Nikon people :p :D it was the first digital camera that I got and I took to it :D
I also love the old film and print SLR's but it is not possible for me to do that at this moment so digital is perfect for me :D
That is excellent that you are getting a DSLR next week :D have fun taking pictures with it :D Devil boy told me today that Nkon lenses fit on all of the camera bodies so that means that we can get a less expensive DSLR (probably a D80) to keep us going until we can afford a D300 :D
LOL Terra :D This is all new to me so it is fun to be able to :D
Thank you Stranger H :D I think the thing with insects is that you need to slowely sneak up on them and also catch them when they are preoccupied (like the fly in the last picture that was busy with the flower and the first one that was busy cleaning itself)
Hehe Masterchief :D I can sneak up on them ;) (well most of the time :D )
