anyone interested should see THE DOCUMENTARY: Metal: A Headbanger's Journey.
That'll teach you alot about the breakdown of the Metal genre...including Deathmetal not included is emo/ screamo "offshoots", but based off of Wikipedia's "Emo" definition, I'd say it came from the hardcore punk scene, which branched off from "Early punk" like the Ramones, the Sex Pistols and an old Goth fave The Clash.
