Topic: Spammers

So apparently a spammer has found his way to our beloved site. I know that Aaron and the Mods know how to do their jobs, so this is not a cry to them to band the offending party(s).  But seriously do spammers really think that constantly posting disgusting threads over and over  will work in drumming up buisness?

I wonder if there is a way to actually derterr spammers from posting (or getting into the chat room coughdar'mandacough).

It would appear to me that in the past few weeks there have been more spammer activity than there used to be. Any one else feel this way? Or am I imagining things?

In general I know this site is really good when it comes to spamming. It keeps us classy I think, as spamming to me is cheap and vile.

I must agree with you Si, I have been noticing more and more people spamming up the chat room and other everyday topics.  It is extremely annoying and I really  wish there was a way to stop these spammers before they even post.  Perhaps, at least for the creation of threads, the mods must look them over before they are fully allowed to become threads?  That might help for unnecessary threads, repeated threads, and downright disgusting threads.  Well, it's just an idea to keep this wonderful sight clean and friendly.

Yeah MOST people that register on the site are actually Boba Fett fans or Star Wars fans at the least. I'm thinking of one specifically that most definately IS NOT either.

A good thing is to report.  Posting in the message boards may not work but reports are sure to make it to the admin and/ or mods.

People telling this bot to stop won't work.  Just ignore it and continue on with your posting.

I PMed one of the mods today at about eight o'clock its 6 PM now, i'm confident the admin will deal with it, just hoping it isnt to much trouble for them to delete all posts/topics from this whatever the crap it is

right then, so everyone should:

1. PM mods about these bots.
2. Report their post.
3. Vent here!

You can't afford me.

Just report them, and they'll get banned soon.

As some of you noted, it's best to ignore the posts. If it's blatant junk, it's probably not a person.

When any of you see an offensive post, please report it. Reports are actually much better for us moderators than a private message because we can jump right to the post, check it out, and do something about it.

In this case, one of the other moderators handled it. We've got a great team here to cover for one another, both all of you and our dedicated mods.

I completely agree.  It helps that this is a pretty small and close knit site, but great work from the Mods and Admin keep this a fun AND tight ship.

Eveyone is right. Zbytch85716 is just a Robot and trying to advertise on our lovely site. just ignore it, as Aaron said and we should be fine. Just delete the bot's account if anyone can, thanks.

Hey I can't spell either (or type as fast as my brain thinks). Plus flippng the order of the letters kinda messes me up a lot. None of us are perfect, althought we try our best.  I am glad to see the main problem solved. Thanks to the wonderful mods!
